The morning air passed over the pink sleeping mass of fur. It could have been quite alarming if you didn't know it was a helix curled up in a deep sleep, if only to get her beauty rest. The wind ruffled the furr as the ball unfolded its self to stretch out and yawn massivly, and most un-lady like. Bleary blue eyes blinked at the rising sun before they shut tight in another yawn in wich afterwards the young Gamma helix shook out her fur. Black hearts of all sizes trailed up one leg along with even brighter pink stars. Her white belly was a drastic contrast to the majority of her that was pink and well, any thing her color was bound to stick out. A pink toung darted out to lick an even pinker nose before disapearing again when the female rose to her paws.

Sophie was slender. She wasn't a stick but there wasn't much to her. She was small as she didn't grow too much after becomming an adolescant and grew even less when she became an adult. She made her way down the slope that lead to a clearing that had been flooded the day before and now had a good sized puddle going for it. Sophie stood before it, looking into the reflective, still water, her head turning every wich way as was her body, to make sure no fur was standing on end. She then proceeded to take a few drinks from the puddle before turning delicatly on her paws and strutting slowly back up the slope.

Kashikoi sighed softly as he padded into the darkness and the unknown, as he always did. It was a new day, he guessed, with the warmth of the sun on his shining silver back, glinting off his pupil-less eyes which would never see for him again. His moist nose twitched and his hackles rose instinctively when he scented a rabbit bolting away but he did nothing. After all, what was left for him to do?

His fur was matted and dirty, his blindness long ago causing him to feel no care for how clean his fur was. Why should he, anyways? Everyone he cared for, everyone he knew, they were all gone. Even his sister. His dear sister Rue. His nose sniffed sadly at the memory and he wondered how he was still alive. He had lost almost all hope for her survival and his actions reflected that. He only went hunting when his senses demanded and only then to find carcasses for he had never taken the time to learn to hunt without the help of his sight. His muscles, once strong and easily noticeable from his time as a warrior years ago, seemed almost non-existant against his protruding limbs and shaggy coat. He rarely spoke to others, often turning openly hostile against any he met in hopes that one would give him a quick death. Unfortuneately, they could see his blindness, and left him alone, calling him mad or pitying him.

Again a sigh left his lips, still bloodied from the carcass he had found weeks ago. If he wasn't dead, he certainly smelled like it, and he often heard screams from little pups he wandered close to, claiming him to be the living dead. He shook his head slowly at the thoughts, leaning down gratefully to the cool wet he suddenly felt gliding across his paws. His tounge flashed out to moisten his nose and he sniffed curiously, discovering that the land he was on was either a swamp, flooded, or just very wet for some reason. He waded across it, enjoying the feel of the cool liquid against his filty coat, and ignored the debris he felt float against him. When the wind changed, he could feel ripples against his side and a new scent reached his nostrils. A helix.

He thought about attackng it but after closer inspection, fount it was a female, and had given up the idea of death by another helix by that point. Having no desire for company, he merely turned away, padding in the waters to the other side.

Soft white tipped ears swivled to catch the sound of soft splashing coming from the puddle behind Sophie. At first she figured it to be birds splashing in the water but it was more like a plonking sound, like something being dunked under the water. In hopes that it would be some other helix who may have caught sight of her, she fluffed up her fur with a good shake before she turned around to see a retreating silver and rather dirty, helix. But of course that must be why they were in the puddle. There must not be a different close by water sourse. With that in mind she'd probably find a different place to dwell if this was the only water source. Ah but maybe this helix could tell her?

Sophie's ears perked up at the thought and she headed back down the slope. She really didn't feel like going through the water and getting wet so she picked up her pace a little bit and went around to meet the strange helix. "Hello? Excuse me?"

Kashkoi paddled laborously around the large puddle he was in, trying to find the end. When he did, he slid out and, without bothering to dry himself, stepped closer to the prescence of the trees he felt. He thought he would be able to escape unnoticed but it seemed his search for land had roused attention. Stiffening his legs and bristling his fur slightly to show he wasn't the best option for conversation, he turned his head to the nearing helix, his ears twitched curiously when the soft, feminine voice reached him.

"Yes?" he replied, his voice low and quiet, almost a whisper, but deep with experience and age. It had been a while since he had last spoken and his voice was harsh from disuse, almost croaking. He cleared his throat and started again, his clouded pupil-less eyes searching for the helix it would never see, before he repeated his last word, his voice stronger. "Yes?"

His mind, used to analyzing, already thought out his options, his questions. Why would she talk to him, of all helixes? Certainly his appearance kept most at bay. Perhaps there was no one else around? Had her family drowned? If she happened to be an assassin or the like, and planned to kill him, well, that was perfectly fine with him, and he wouldn't head towards the badger's den in the forest a bit to the left, one he had passed as he came this way. His ears swiveled constantly, his nose sniffing furiously, as he tried to use his senses to answer the questions his eyes had always answered.

Sophies pretty blue eyes took in the sight of the dishevled helix and his cloudy eyes that were looking slightly to the left of were she stood. Her own expectant and happy go lucky disposition shifted to immidiate concern. Really when was the last time he'd actually eaten? She should help him. "Um, I'm realy sorry to bother you but..." Her voice trailed off shyly before continuing, she usually wasn't at a loss for words. She'd come over intending to ask if there were any other possible water souces and now she was on the verge of dragging him to where she'd been sleeping and make him eat somthing. Really what did one do now? "...well I was just thinking and wondered if you might know of any other water sources that would be near by?"

Sophie was slightly put off by this helixes standoffish disposition, but she supposed she'd be that way too if she was all alone and unable to see. He must be so lonley... It was making her sad to think that this helix just might not have any one. Sure, this was the first helix she'd met since comming this way so she too, had no one but it seemed as though he had let it get to him. Sure, he smelled a little funky but...okay no not a little but still!

Kashikoi was surprised with the female's sudden shyness. She hadn't seemed that way at all, when she first appeared, but he couldn't say it was unexpected. She was close enough to see him properly now. His lips raised jealously as he thought that, that she still had her sight. It was quickly gone, though, when he remembered himself, and he licked his lips as if that was what he had meant to do all along. Even his fangs were yellow and dirty and his breath stank with the only meal he ever ate nowadays: carrion.

"No." Kashikoi replied, giving a slight shake of his head for emphasis. Being unable to see, he had lost most habits which involved his sight, such as speaking with his body alone, and not his voice. After all, he saw little to no purpose in it. (No pun intended.) Shaking his body to rid himself of the water still dripping down his fur, he turned away and flicked his ears towards the forest. "Was that all?" he said, already stepping away.

Sophie let a small "Oh." Slide past her lips and was momentarily feeling defeated, that was, untill he started to walk away. She wasn't sure why she was so concerned for this helixes well being but felt that if she didn't stop him from leaving her sight, then something bad would surely happen to him. "Ah, no! Please don't go!" She frantically searched her brain as she called after him, wondering what words to distract him with. "My name's Sophie. Um, whats yours please?" She let a little bit of her earlier pep back into her voice now. She winced slightly as her paw came incontact with something squishy. She looked down to see mud oozing fromm between her toes and grimmaced as she shook her paw and proceeded to get mud on her face. She sighed.

Kashikoi paused, one of his paws still raised in the air, and his tail flicked both curiously and irritably. By then, he thought her to be one of the needy females, one who lived on the attention of others. But it had been a while since anyone had taken the time to talk to him and so he turned back, his steps cautious on the unknown ground and reluctant as he wondered whether the choice he was making would be one he would regret.

"Hello Sophie." he said quietly, uncertainty lacing his voice. He wondered what it was like back then, when he used to have a conversation every day. Now, he was racking his mind for something to say back. Thank the heavens she asked for his name or he'd have just stood around like a mindless idiot.

"I go by Kashikoi." he said, pausing. Ah, yes. This was the part where he stood like a fool.

"Kashikoi...Its a pleasure to meet you!" Enthusiasm laced her voice as she beamed at the stranger before her. She knew he couldn't see, but maybe a good mood would rub off on him. "Do you prefer that or something shorter?"

Her head turned to the side at hearing something beside her no too far off, reassured it was just a squirrel, she turned back to Kashikoi. And then the little critter skittering about reminded her of something. "I don't mean to be..so forward but you look half starved. Could I catch something for you? Please?" Her brow furrowed in hopes he wouldn't take her offensively...after all she was just trying to be helpfull.

Kashikoi wondered if she happened to be blind as well, for the enthusiasm tinting her voice was certainly unexpected. The last time he had heard a voice this happy and directed towards him was before his pack had been attacked and this caused bitter memories to sprout in his mind. He shook them away and tried to concentrate on the other's words, pressing his ears forward.

"It's... it's nice to meet you, too." Kashikoi said, wondering if it was some sort of greeting. Certainly, their short encounter wasn't adequate to affect their opinion enough for the meeting to be considered "pleasant." He kept the thoughts in mind but pretty much ignored them for the time being as her words were once more filling the space between them.
"No. Just Kashikoi is fine." he said, his voice flat. His sister used to call him "Kash" and he'd be damned if he let any other helix call him that in her assumed death. His fur bristled but he realized that the female he spoke to now probably had no idea about his sister, Rue, so he forced himself to calm down, feeling guilty. He had gotten angry at her, for no apparent reason, and she was still offering to get him something. Practically begging by the tone of her voice.

"It's all right." he finally said. "Times can be harsh and it's best to think of feeding yourself first."

The frettfull female brightened at his words, oblivious to his sudden mood changes. "You will stay here then? Untill I get back? I promise I won't be gone long." Sophie looked into the woods not knowing exactly what she was going to hunt, something good though...hopefully. SHe'd never been good at it...but good enough that she survived. "Okay, you stay here." And then she was gone, weaving through the close knit trees, stopping to smell the air, before zooming off again.

"Wait!" Kashikoi called, coughing. It had been a while since he raised his voice that high and an irritated snarl formed on his lips. She had obviously mistook his words to mean that he wanted her to hunt for him. Shaking his head, he licked his nose, moistening it to catch scents better and bounded after her cautiously. However, this caution made him slow and it wasn't long until the female was far ahead and he was left alone.

He knew he couldn't go back because he didn't take the time to remember the way and he was too used to his own scent to notice it anymore. He thought over his options: stay and wait for her to find him or just leave. The latter appealed to him but suddenly, his stomach growled, and the thought of the fresh food Sophie had promised seemed to allure him just as much. If he stayed, he would get a free meal. If he left, he wouldn't have to deal with the peppy female.

He curled his tail around his leg, sighing. Decisions could never stay easy, could they?

Sophie slowed to a light jog before moving lower to the grownd and eventually a crawling motion. Of course her color would never help her hunt any where but she hoped that the flowery bush she chose would at least take some notice from her. Blue eyes zoomed in on a frail looking fawn. How lucky was she today? THe mother seemed oblivious to both her and the fawns presence, more of doing her own thing. No wonder it was so frail looking, clearly the only reason she was with the fawn was because it followed her, not because she took care of it. Momentary pitty took over her before she remembered she'd probably be doing it and the 'mother' a favor and sprang for the fawn.

Taking down the fawn hadn't been as easy as she'd thought and the only reason she'd caught and killed it in the first place was because it tried to go through some bushes and got stuck. She let loose her hold and sat down for a minut, licking her muzzle free of any blood and catching her breath. Sophie looked down at the fawn, it was alot heavier than it seemed and it would make a good meal, that she was sure. She sniffed at the air before continuing on her way, dragging her prize along with her.

Sophie was huffing and tired by the time she was almost back to the clearing when she saw Kashikoi sitting in the woods. For a moment he reminded her of a statue but she shook her head, clearing her throat so she wouldn't startle him. "Um..I brought you the food I promised. I think you will enjoy it." She was out of breath but brought the fresh carcass over to the blind wolf before moving away to lay down and lick at her muzzle, allowing the older male to eat first. She would eat later as she wasn't too hungry at the moment, instead she was marveling at her catch.

Kashikoi was just about to leave, deciding he'd stayed too long, when the scent of blood reached his still-sensitive nose. He panted longingly at the scent, keeping his mouth open and lapping at the air as if he could taste the food there. He turned to face the scent and the female he heard padding closer, her breath coming out in huffs.
He was surprised that she had found him but the thought, in fact, every thought, was driven from his mind. The food was close and he could hear or scent no enemy to the prize as Sophie had gone a little ways away. Before he could stop himself, he had thrown himself at the free meal, and was tearing at it vigorously, as if it were the last meal he would have. His eating was sloppy and uncoordinated. Being unable to see it and having his scent blocked by the blood, he only aimed his fangs at any soft flesh he could find, and much blood was splattered on his coat and the surrounding area. The meat was delicious, even more so because it had been his first fresh meal in a while.

Only when he finished, a small part of the creature still left bleeding on the ground, did he realize it was a young fawn. That explained why Sophie was out of breath. He felt grateful to her and suddenly ashamed of himself. He had to rely on a young female to bring him fresh kills and sate his hunger. He, Kashikoi, who could have been the best warrior in his old pack, had degraded to this. What was worse, it was he who had done it to himself.

He licked his muzzle clean of blood, sitting down where he was. "Thank you." he said to her, ears flickering as he searched for her whereabouts.

Sophie actually jumped from the place were she'd been laying down at the sound of his voice. Had she dozed off? Apparently so. She sat up, stretching and shook her head. "It wasn't a problem." She said gazing at him for a moment. He realy was a mess now and she had a sort of OCD about appearence and wished he'd lick his muzzle to rid it of the fresh and dried blood there. She shook her head briefly and cought sight of the mangled corpse all thought of how he managed to get blood on his shoulder out the window. She raised a brow at it in concern before turning back to Kashikoi.

"I'm glad to know you enjoyed it, Its the least I can do." Pink ears flickered as they cought little sounds arround them and she smiled. "Besides it was fun actually. If I hadn't met you I'd probably would have just had a rabbit and then be lazy, but look! Since meeting you I get to eat the first deer I've had in a long time and I'm so far from lazy right now...even though I did almost fall asleep..." Her rambling voice trailed off as she thought about that but she perked up again.
