It was rather cool and quiet on the Savannah. The air held a crisp chill now that the sun had sunk below the horizon. The air was still though, and peaceful. Yara was sprawled comfortably on the large limb of a tree. It was quite large enough to cradle her small form nicely and it made the ideal resting spot. The limb wasn't that high, but it still gave her a nice view of the land around her.
She'd run across this particular spot earlier that day and had found it so pleasant that she'd decided to stay for a few days. The tree grew next to a small watering hole and there was a rock formation not too far away that could provide more shelter, should she need it. However, since the weather was nice, she decided she was more comfortable in the tree. Laying her head on her paw she let her mind wander.
Siyara had been traveling for quite awhile now. There was no reason for her to travel and she had no decided destination. She traveled wherever she wanted to go and stopped when she wished. It wasn't an easy lifestyle, but it was hers. Still, something seemed to be missing and she wasn't sure what that was. Her guess would have been for some companionship. She longed for a group, or even one other to travel with, to share stories with. Perhaps that was what she was searching for.
Yara yawned abruptly, startling her thoughts. With a chuckle, she told her mind to quiet down and closed her eyes.

Suijin found himself to be rather content, in the last few days the pieces had landed in his favor. (He acts as though life is one big chess game and he is the king, destined to win.) He had met a charming young seer, who he had fooled quite easily, and she gave him all of the information that he wanted and more that he hadn't expected. Sure some bad news had come from the gray female's lips but good also followed and he chose to work to change the bad into good.
It was what he was best at after all, he would do whatever it took to get things to be the way he wanted. He would fool whomever he wanted and would take advantage of whomever he needed to. He could play the part of the tricky b*****d or the charming prince who could, and would, sweep women off their feet.
His water-blue eyes scanned the area he found himself in looking for something to entertain him, perhaps another female to use as he had done with Horowai. Yes he wanted to spread his genes and eventually take his spawn back with him, not all of them though, to help rebuild his fallen pride.
First he would start with the little girl from the seer's vision.
She was the key.
He was pulled from his scheming by the sight of a mostly white female. Deciding he would play the part of the charming male he put on his most convincing fake smile and called out, "Hello there ma'am!"

Yara was just drifting off to sleep when she heard a voice from nearby. Frowning, she opened her eyes and gazed around her, confused. She spotted a feline figure nearby and from the voice, it was a male. Looking closer, she could see that it was a male lion. Yara was torn between curiosity and suspicion. Still, the greeting seemed kindly enough, and if she needed to, she could climb higher in the tree to protect herself. Situating herself so she could move if she had to, she called back.
"Hello there. What brings you out here so late? I admit it is a nice spot and you are welcome to share it as long as you mean no harm. I'm in no mood for a fight," she said bluntly. She didn't want to bother taking the time to make it subtle and figured she might as well be honest.
Yara watched the male closely and waited to hear his reaction. He might be a weary traveler like herself and it wouldn't be kind to begrudge him the space, but she needed to be sure.

He paused in his walk to observe her and the way she moved when she heard him. He could see her pause, hesitating almost, to reply to him as though she was wary, yet the greeting turned out friendly enough. Mentally he shrugged to himself, it was late and it was natural to be suspicious of strangers. But he wasn't going to do her any harm, not unless the situation really called for it.
He had a feeling it wouldn't.
"A long day of traveling with little company sadly enough," he replied to her with a small frown trying to earn her sympathy. He glanced at the ground as though he was thinking when she continued to speak. Lifting his head he shook his head and quickly replied, "Oh no, I mean no harm ma'am." He paused smiling sheepishly at her.
"I simply wished to speak with someone, to have a conversation. Two days without seeing a single person can take a toll on a person!" He exclaimed as though he was the sweetest person you could ever find. Of course everything was a lie, he simply wanted someone to entertain him.
"If a pretty lady like you doesn't mind," he mumbled looking down as though he was embarrassed.
It appeared as though he was quite the actor.

He seemed genuine, though Yara was not quite sure she should or could trust him. Still, that was no reason not to at least be hospitable. Shifting, she stayed on her branch, but sat up enough that she could speak with him.
"Now that I understand, sir, and you are welcome to share the space. It is a lovely little spot and it simply wouldn't be gracious of me if I didn't offer to share," she said with a smile.
She took a moment to look the male lion over as he was now close enough for her to do so. He was a handsome creature, with pleasing colors, she admitted to herself. And he seemed very kind. It could be a facade, but Yara was determined to think the best of people, so she would give him the benefit of the doubt.
"May I ask your name, sir?"

When the leopardess replied to him he lifted his head, his expression lit with what appeared to be excitement. She was falling into his little trap, perfect! "Really ma'am? I'd be ever so grateful!" He exclaimed excitedly a bright smile upon his lips as he stepped forward.
It sickened him to play the part of a sweet, innocent male that in reality was nothing like him. Yet it was necessary to get what he wanted and it seemed to be working so he would continue, he needed to charm her and charm her he would. Besides she was pretty, he liked females of simple colors and designs, more likely that he would show through in any resulted cubs that way.
Yes he was always planning on how to show that he was there, that he would always be around in some way shape or form. It was simply, as he saw it, his destiny. Not to mention any of his spawn that floated around could easily make a good addition to his pride, once he got that back together of course.
"My name? Ah! Er .my name?" He furrowed his brow as though he had to really think about his name. "Ah! It's Suijin! My name that is," he let out a nervous laugh as he dropped his gaze. "Can-can I know your name miss?"

Yara shrugged off her worries and focused on being hospitable. Suijin had done nothing that should put her on edge and she knew that her caution was beginning to make her look standoffish. She moved fluidly down off of the tree, her one 'talent' of natural grace making it look much easier than it was. She moved over to sit a short distance away. Now that she was closer, she could see him better and attempt to get a better impression of him.
She smiled at his rather nervous nature and hoped that she wasn't making him that nervous.
"My name is Siyara, but please, call me Yara," she said with a respectful nod of the head. She didn't give him her full name, but then again, she rarely did with anyone.
In an attempt to lighten the mood and perhaps help him to relax, Yara smiled kindly and picked a hopefully innocent question out of the air.
"So, may I ask where you come from?"

Suijin watched with interest as the leopardess smoothing jumped down from branch with such grace that he had never seen before. He inhaled sharply making it appear as though he was gasping in awe, something completely unintentional. His eyes never left her from this moment on, no he was taking in everything about her. Her grace, her simple beauty and her seeming interest in him had captured his attention.
He had to be careful now, he had a thin thread that he was walking upon and if he lingered on one section too long the whole charade would come crumbling down around him. And he had been working too hard to let that happen now.
"Siyara," he repeated testing it's weight on his tongue, "Yara." He smiled, it was a rather nice and simple name. "I-it's a very nice name miss," he told her.
At her question he blinked pretending that it startled him, that he wasn't really sure of how to respond. "I don't really know, I remember waterfalls and then no waterfalls..." It wasn't a complete lie.

Yara found herself slowly dropping her guard. It wasn't often that she did so, but this Suijin seemed honest and trustworthy and if something did happen, she was certain she'd be able to take care of herself. She could move quickly over rough terrain and that was certainly helpful. As she moved, she could feel his gaze on her and she focused on not being self-conscious about her movements.
She settled comfortably into a reclining position and listened as he spoke.
However, his answer puzzled her. Perhaps he did not remember where he came from? Could he have lost his memory somehow? It was strange, but not unheard of. Perhaps he really was lost.
Yara's expression turned to one of concern, but she didn't want to press him, so she smiled and nodded.
"I see. Hm. Well, I've been wandering for so long that I can't really recall where I'm originally from. I've been traveling around since I was a cub."
It was certainly true. Siyara had been on her own for a long time. Not that she really minded, but she certainly enjoyed it when she had a traveling companion for as much time as they wished to share the journey.

Everything was falling right into his paws so to speak. He could see her warming up to him, dropping her guard and creating that opening he had been waiting for. Just a little longer and she'd be his, at least that was the feeling he was getting from the way things were going.
"I-it's strange," he began pausing to lower and shake his head. "I spent my whole life there, always thinking that I would continue to live there, that everything would always be perfect..." he trailed off with a sigh. It was a painful memory, the day everything crashed around him. It was the first, and only day, that he hadn't seen coming.
The male was no seer but he had the ability to see everything, the direction it was going, long before it ever happened. When the drought happened it devastated the young male, the young king. And when his pride abandoned him, it took a heavy toll.
"I can only find it in my dreams now," he confided truthfully. He would dream of it, repopulated too, but he had only been able to find it once before, where he had his heart broken.
"Traveling can be rather lonely..."

Siyara watched him closely and quietly. It was obvious from his expression and his body language that he had gone through some very painful times and was recalling them. She felt her heart reach out to him. She hated to see others in pain, especially emotional pain, because she knew what that was like. Once, she'd had everything she could ever want and it had been taken away from her for one small mistake. She was paying for that mistake for the rest of her life.
"Then one day, everything changes and you wonder why, if you had seen in coming, why you hadn't been able to stop it," she continued quietly, her thoughts turned miles and years away. With a sigh, she forced herself back to the present and glanced over at him.
"I know what you mean. Yes, it can get very lonely sometimes. However, for some reason, those like us continue to do so. Maybe it is because we have no other choice, maybe some don't want another choice."
Yara shook her head sadly before smiling back at him.
"Well, we certainly are in a melancholy mood tonight. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought it up," she said, ruefully.

Keeping his head down he peeked up at her studying her expression. The past he had just recalled was painful indeed however he was able to push them aside easily, he had a mission and he'd be damned if he let a few sour memories keep him down. As he watched her, secretly, he knew that she felt sympathy.
Perfect.
"I always thought that I knew everything, that everything would stay perfect," he sighed finally looking up at her. "I guess sometimes you see things coming but they come so fast you can't stop them..." Those words made him think of his biggest mistake, the girl he had fallen in love with as a child and still loved to this day.
Unfortunately for Suijin she had already moved on, was over him, while he still clung to the past. When he found her and admitted that all along he had loved her, well he knew it meant nothing but he couldn't help but hope that she'd still love him too. He knew she didn't and she slipped through his paws like the very water he loved and grew up in.
He was snapped out of his thoughts by her next words. He smiled sheepishly at her, remembering he still had to act here, and shook his head. "No, it's good. Helps to talk about it I think. Besides, I like the company."
