Mirage watched in her mirror as happy congratulations turned into chaos as her worst "agent" attacked his lover when he found she had born pups. Like herself, many chose to stay back and watch, unsure of whether they should get involved or not. All, except for her most promising and his sister. They ran to the aid of the female and she smirked a bit. She knew the girl had good intentions. The boy, however was see-through only to herself. He acted to save the attractive female.
"That boy's libido will get him hurt one of these days," she muttered to herself as she glanced over at the other mirror. Abel Nightroad was dealing with an even more pressing matter. Wondering what the girl was capable of, Mirage had sent two of her influenced into the young female's vicinity. She had torn them apart and nearly lost herself to a bloodlust she could not control. Her father was grieving over his daughter's fate and all around comforting her as she tried to understand what it was she could do.
Honestly, she felt for them. That must be a hard thing to deal with. Not that it really mattered. Just as long as they didn't get involved in this fight, she didn't care. Should the Nightroads get involved, it would be a bloodbath she didn't want on her paws.
And she wasn't getting involved in this, either. She had learned enough from the Cheshire Cat that she couldn't directly involve herself. Not that it mattered. Angelus was a free otter. Everything he did was his own volition. And that's what worried her most.

Fashir felt his heart squeeze in agony when he realized what was happening, he reached out and knew. Angelus had lost his soul once more, the blinding flash had not been one of joy...but one of the tide turning. He could sense the pain of the Angelic otter who had been sworn to slay those who were wicked. The precious lives she had brought into the world were nestled safe within thick shelled clams.
Everything was wavering, the lines between good and evil shimmered in his mind's eye. He could see the demonic female crouched over clams protective yet strangely hungry, was she good or evil? Her brother knocking Angelus away from the female yet was the act one of unselfishness or motivated by wicked thoughts.
It was all slipping from his grasp now and meanwhile the youngest child of his hailed Sarah and Abel was becoming a dark stain across his vision. Her curiosity drove her to wickedness without remorse. This had to stop, and he had to find a way to stop it. With a soft growl he slipped through time and space towards his former beloved.
"Mirage!"

Mirage flinched like a child caught watching something she shouldn't and sat up slowly, turning to face her opposite as he appeared in her chambers. "You don't have to shout. You may be blind, but I'm not deaf," she shot back and rubbed one paw against her ear. "Of course, after that, I very well could be."
The last thing she wanted to do was to tell him that she had told him this would happen. She hated it when he was this wrong, because it hurt him so. She liked balance. And Angelus was doing a helluva a job in screwing it up. He always had. Much as she usually liked evil-doers, the fiendish demonic was REALLY starting to get on her nerves. Because she knew he would never obey her.
"What do you want, Fashir? Come to yell at me for meddling again? Well, DON'T. 'Cause I haven't done anything."

"You haven't hmm? Angelus soul is gone Mirage, I know how upset you were with me for returning it to him." Fashir moved closer following the scent of the feline before him.
"You have been watching as well, you see the pain now the fear...this is not what was supposed to happen. Angel loved Buffy...with all he had in him, would have died to protect her, this warped version of events is not my doing..." He growled softly, accusingly.

"You read him wrong, Fashir," Mirage replied, doing her best to keep her own hurt from her voice. It was hard, but in the end only a little slipped out at his accusations. She stood her ground, not wanting to show any weakness against him. He had been in his power for so much longer than her. To this day, part of her still worried what he could do to her if he lost his temper. But she wouldn't let him know her fear. She was not in the wrong this time.
"To Angelus, pain and fear is like a drug. He craves it. I knew that and THAT is why I protested your foolish actions. He NEVER deserved a soul, even at birth he was a monster. He doesn't answer to me, Fashir, he never has. I knew this, which is why I wiped my paws of him. I like balance and sanity and he is the embodiment of the opposite." She finally looked away from him then, unable to stare at his blindfolded face any longer. He would never believe her. He didn't trust her, not where her domain was concerned. And she would never tell him that she couldn't control Angelus. Just admit that she wouldn't.
"Don't ask me what changed, Fashir. Maybe it was the clams and how they meant he would have to share his precious Buffy. Maybe he was fooling you all along. I don't know."

"He was not to be jealous of his own children, it was something else...something must have caused him to loose his soul." The old wolf paced and snarled furious that Angelus was wreaking havoc on the innocent.
Worse, now the clams were in danger, three new souls that might forever be turned into the darkness.
"You can harness him Mirage, he is one of yours now, evil, wicked to his core..."

"But I can't control him!" Mirage spat in haste and immediately shut her mouth, her eyes a bit wide at her sudden admission. Damn it all! Why did he have to get her so riled up?! She stood and stalked away from him, clawing at her mirrors until they formed one large one and started play Angelus' many evil escapades. Hardly a day went by that he didn't do something utterly despicable. "I am Evil, Fashir. But you don't understand how it works. I can't CONTROL anything. I can prod and poke and trick others done an evil or miserable path. That's usually what I do. I act as a catalyst, the spark that starts a fire," she rounded on him and pointed back at her mirror.
"That uncontrollable blaze was not my doing. He was like that from the beginning. There are things he's done that even I would never wish on another creature. I've set many men and women down paths of great, terrible things. I do it to shake things up. Everything I do, I know it can't last. Sooner or later, some goody-goody will come along and beat my villain down, or even save them. Angelus has been beyond saving," she hissed, her green eyes narrowed in pain for him and frustration that he would never understand or listen to her. She turned away from him, her teeth grit tight as her gaze met the mirror as it played the meeting of Angelus and that poor demonic female. Mirage certainly had a paw in Drusilla's actions. Maybe through her, she could make things a semblance of being right...
"You never listen to me, Fashir. Am I'm that stupid to you? Do you hate me that much?"

"You cannot control that creature? He is completely evil Mirage, surely you have some sway." He leapt after her refusing to allow her to move away. He paced before her great mirrors and shook his head.
"He could have been saved...she touched the core in him, goodness...I saw it."
Her words made his ears p***k and he rounded to face her. Her words left him speechless for once, he could never hate her...yet how could he love her now? Chaos had molded her into the very thing he so often sought to weed out and destroy. Still he did love her he could feel her words like a vice around his heart.
"No Mirage...I could never hate you, nor think you stupid...all I can ever do where your concerned is...regret."

Mirage snorted bitterly at his words, looking away from him, much like a petulant child. "And you forget one tiny detail, once again Fashir. Free. Will. You do everything you can to encourage them in the 'right' direction and they throw it in your face because with all our powers we can't circumvent free will." Her only real weakness, really. Not that she really cared. If one soul decided to avoid her proddings, then she could just move on to the next one. That was the thing with Angelus. She liked to be able to control her agents. Hence why she usually used very emotional or easily led ones. Emotional cases tend to be led down a path and fight to stay on it. The latter, well, they were more often just stupid or gullible. Angelus was neither of those. He was clever and completely insane. She couldn't risk attempting to use a thing like him for her devices, because, unlike Fashir, she knew in the end it would blow up in her face because Angelus went his own way. One could only manipulate one such as him for so long before he started questioning it.
"Funny you should say that, because that's exactly how I feel," she muttered on the regret statement, her ears folding back a bit. Sure, she was full of regret. Regret that she hadn't stopped him before this happened. She had known it would. But she had to let him go his own way, learn for himself. Part of her wanted him to be right. So that she didn't have to deal with this. With Angelus out of the picture, should could deal with much easier controlled specimens. But no. She had been right, and now things were going to hell in a handbasket.

"He loved her Mirage, I saw it...and even in his wickedness I can tell he feels something for her, it fuels his anger. If only I knew what force took his soul back, if only I could return it to him..." Fashir growled in frustration, normally things went perfectly according to his plans.
His greatest fear was not so much for the wholly dark creature that was Angelus, nor the pure angelic Buffy, but for the three tiny lives they had created together.

Mirage sighed and slowly shook her head. "Don't look at me, Fashir. I've resigned myself to just watching," she replied softly, turning back to the mirror and touched a paw to it. The images upon it faded to a soft gray fog, swirling back and forth. If he didn't already know about her testing the warriors of the Oasis, then she wasn't about to bring it to his attention. In the long run, she was just keeping them on their toes. Good for both sides in her opinion. But Fashir was not in the mood. If she told him about that, he'd probably blow up and yell at her and make them both more angry. And right now, Mirage was tired of being angry.
"The only person that knows why Angelus did what he did is himself. And, honestly, I'm not really inclined to ask him."

Fashir frowned and turned away from her his body tense, he wanted time alone with Mirage the way it used to be. Now they only seemed to fight, their love seemed to be gone, she would never again be his tender kitten.
His voice came our harsher then he had intended. "You chose your path Mirage, your charges are those wicked ones, you had best find angelus and harness him."

Mirage flinched at his words and felt a tightness in her chest. Sure, she'd made a tiny mistake in thinking that she could work happily by his side by taking on the position of Evil incarnate, but that didn't mean he had to keep bringing it up. Didn't he realize that all that did was make her more bitter?
Of course he did. He wouldn't say so if he didn't. He'd just let it go and move on. He really did hate her. "You'll never understand, will you? It much be so nice, living in a black and white world. You say you can't hate me and that you don't think me stupid, and yet all you do is point out my faults and mistakes. You never believe me. Face it Fashir." Her eyes narrowed and glowed with all the hurt she felt. "I wasn't the one that left you. All I did was try and get closer to who and what you are. It was YOU that drove me away."

Fashir left his back turned to her, it pained him too much to see her so upset. "I have no choice but to deal with you as what you are, evil."
He moved to slip away from her floating home, her den of strange darkness and flickering lights. So different from the world they once shared together, when they could share it. He had been so good at his work, goodness and light suffused every corner of his plane, chaos came and he banished it. In the end he always came back to his Mirage, his love for her made the whole future brighten, and when he saw the brilliant flash in the distance he thought their world would be perfect.
He halted shocked, the same brilliant flash that he had seen for Buffy and Angelus, he thought their future would be beautiful as well. It seemed the flash was not what he had always thought...if only he had realized it sooner.

Mirage cursed in feminine frustration and did the first thing that came to mind as he turned away from her and started to leave her presence.
She conjured a shoe and sent it flying at him. It had just popped into her mind and was so cliched it was almost dripping with unoriginality. Stiletto-heeled and bright pink, it headed straight for Fashir's big dumb head. Heel away from his head, of course.
"You... You... Ugh!" She wanted to tear her hair out... or tear things from him for that matter, at that comment. Just because she was Evil, didn't mean that's all she was! Gods knew that Fashir had his devious moments, few as they may be. Oh, how she hated his superiority complex. She was tired of him always seeming to have the upper paw over her. In her frustration, two pots that were sitting off to one side shattered.
