He is, without a single doubt, my favorite character of all time, tumbling through dangerous situations with a silver cigarette case and a mouth too fast for his own good. He’s rough and bitter around the edges, battered from magical wars and years of heavy drug use, quick to anger and slow to forget. He is a lover, throwing himself body and soul to those who hurt him most. He’s a singer, voice raspy but addicting, drawing rough passion from his fans and his friends. He is Reg Black, frontman of the Coversluts, pillager of Hermione Granger’s cherry, and professional smart a**.
Whether you’ve met him gambling the contents of a stolen wallet in Slots, running through the GD with a cigarette in the corner of his mouth, or struggling to keep his life in one piece across the Wizarding World of Gaia, to know Reg is to love him.
This thread was founded to celebrate everything Reg is, and everything he is not.

• NazzyThere are a lot of reasons why we love Emo!Regulus Black. I’ve known him since he was first used in one of Kat and I’s post-GoF Alternate Universes, where he was the manga-reading emo that comforted Harry Potter when the Golden Trio was held hostage by the Death Eaters in a Florida hideout. And I’ve loved him all the way until now, where he’s the bitter and miserable emo who loved and lost Hermione, skipping in and out of the law’s grasp.
My love for Regulus is directly connected to my love of Kat. They are very alike, at their cores; both of them are unapologetic about who they are, with personalities that draw you in until you can’t help but love every perfect flaw. Her Regulus has always been clichéd, from his battered converses to his uncanny ability to ******** everything up but save the girl at the end of the night, and yet no one has ever complained - his charm and love of life, and frank “******** you if you don’t like it” attitude, force people to accept him. I’ve never once found myself annoyed with his characterization, because Kat has created a truly perfect character that one cannot say no to.
Regulus always adapts to his surroundings, and yet, always remains uneasy with them. Whether it’s the domestic bliss of married life with Hermione Granger, the masochistic and desperate servitude to Blaise Zabini, or the content-to-be-depressed fling with a doomed Severus Snape, Regulus always stays on his toes, prepared for the worst. He is a bird that cannot be contained, yet a drug to his lovers that cannot be ignored; he yearns to escape routine but those who love him want - need - to chain him down. That is Regulus’s tragedy, and I think that is why I love him most, despite how many times I’ve pulled my own hair shouting at him to just stay at home with Hermione and be a good boy.
Not to mention, Kat has created an incredibly attractive emo boy. How can you not love a bisexual emo with piercings, who sings in a band and smokes more cigarettes in a day than he could fit in his baggy hoodie? • CassyHe exists.
