 Aoibheann flew down to the stream and backwinged as she landed, touching down as light as one of the beautiful brown feathers of her wings and tail. It felt so good to be flying without any worries like this. She hadn't flown this freely since before she'd laid Elune, Sir Clifton, and Rementh...well, she hadn't exactly been terribly free in flight while she was pregnant, either. Well, the three had left the nest, so to speak, and she and her beloved Mayur could fly the skies more freely now. She smiled as she took a sip from the crystal clear water, inhaling the scent of summer wildflowers growing in the meadow, such as lupine. She started browsing the lupine, not noticing the other mare nearby.

 The purple colored mare stood at the stream and sighed at her reflection. As each day went on, the bigger she seemed to get. She tried to not eat, but that didn't work, running all day didn't work either. At this point she was getting very frustrated with her situation and she wanted to just make it all go away.
Hearing the soft fluttering of something flying, Neva looked up from her reflection, and spotted quite the pretty mare. She backed away silently, hoping to not be noticed by this mare. With her having her problems, there was no way she could let anyone see her! And so, she kept backing up quietly, until a twig snapped beneath her hoof, and she went as rigid as tree stump. Perhaps the other didn't hear it?

Unfortunately for the other mare, Aoibheann had very keen senses, and her head shot up. Being a Sylrin and an Aririn meant that she had to keep alert for anything that might be desperate enough to attack her. She spotted the purple mare attempting to hide and smiled gently. "It's OK," she called out gently, walking slowly and cautiously toward the other mare. Now that she could see her more clearly, it looked like the unfamiliar mare was putting on the kind of weight Aoibheann remembered all too well. "I won't hurt you." Was this the other mare's first pregnancy? That might explain why she was nervous about being seen, but there was no graceful way of asking the mare so soon.

"I'm...I'm sorry for disturbing you." Neva said quietly, as she continued to stand where she was. Why did she have to be seen now? Of all times? She lowered her head slightly, as she tried to figure out what to do now. This was such a pretty mare, and she didn't want to feel embarrassed in front of such a pretty. Oh what to do!
"I..I can leave if you uh..want me to." Her voice wavered slightly as she decided to let the other mare choose what she should do.

Aoibheann smiled in her gentle way. "You weren't disturbing me," she said softly. "I do like seeing others, especially mothers to be," she added with a wink. Well, that was one way of finding out whether or not this mare was a first time mother. "I'm Aoibheann. What's your name?"

"I'm...Neva" Her voice was still quiet, but with a confused sort of tone to it. Mother to be? Who was she speaking of exactly? Though perhaps she was speaking of just in general. "I've never seen a mother to be. Have...you seen them?" She asked, curious now as to what the other mare could be talking about.

"Nice to meet you, Neva," she said with a bob of the head. She laughed a little. "Neva, I'm looking at a mother to be right now. You're carrying eggs in there," she said, indicating Neva's belly with her delicate muzzle. "I presume it's your first time?" she asked more gently. In all probability, Neva hadn't understood that putting on pounds like that was a part of pregnancy and had assumed she was merely getting fat, which was why she'd been too embarrassed to be around Aoibheann. It all made sense with that explanation, if that was true.

"Me? A mother to be? I couldn't be." Neva shook her head as hard as she could. She wouldn't believe it. It couldn't be true! Could it? "It's not possible. I'm just merely getting fat. Just need to go for an extra run each day. That's all." She was beginning to feel a bit panicky as the option of having little ones ran through her mind. There was no way it could be possible! Unless, her bit of romping around awhile ago with a stallion...no...she shook her head at the thought. Never!

Ah, denial. The first stage in any pregnancy, from what little she'd seen. "Did you have a fun romp with a stallion recently?" she asked in her most gentle, motherly tone. "If you did, I wouldn't be surprised if you're expecting. Do you feel really, really unreasonably hungry? That's another sign of a mother to be. You have to eat more to feed the babies growing in eggs in your belly."

Her face was even redder in color from blushing. Neva did in fact have a fun romp with a stallion as of late. She just didn't want to believe it could lead up to having things growing inside her. And being hungry, she was always hungry now, but she still wanted to believe she was merely getting fat. "I'm, just gaining extra weight. I'm not expecting little ones. I can't be. I don't think. Oh I don't know." She hung her head in shame, and confused, not sure whether to cry, stomp and be angry, or laugh. This was so frustrating!

Aoibheann smiled in her motherly way. "I'm sure you are," she said in a mollifying tone that also had undercurrents of unwillingness to pass off what would appear to be young Neva's first pregnancy as merely getting fat. "You should be very careful with exercising too much," she said in a brisker tone. She wasn't entirely going to humor Neva, but she *was* going to give Neva advice on pregnancy that sounded like advice on dieting. Maybe Neva would even rely on this advice. "Never, ever push yourself too hard, and if you truly do need to eat, and feel like you're absolutely starving and deprived of energy, don't ever let yourself go without nutrients. Nutrients are always good for you." And your little ones, she added silently, opting to not push Neva on this occasion.

"What's wrong with exercising to much? It's not that bad." Neva said, as she raised her head a little bit. She was glad that the other mare had stopped suggesting that she herself was going to have little ones. It just wasn't possible. "I'll exercise all I want. Unless, I'm feeling sick. Which sadly I've been feeling sick quite often lately. I probably ate something that didn't agree with me." Nope. She was pregnant. Not possible. Not in her mind.

"You just don't want to push yourself too hard," Aoibheann said with her gentle, motherly smile. "If you feel sick, you should rest." She tilted her head. That sounded like the morning sickness. Definitely a sign that this mare was pregnant. "Ordinarily, if you ate something that didn't agree with you and it made you feel sick, it shouldn't last more than a day, unless it's a very severe allergic reaction, and even those don't last much more than a day." Yes, at this degree of denial, it was probably much better to give pregnancy advice under the guise of health advice. "Anyway, exercise should not involve pushing yourself too hard, just doing what you can to stay healthy, and pacing yourself as you go."

"You seem to know a lot about this stuff. Why is that?" Neva asked, truly curious, hoping now that the whole pregnancy thing was was done and over with. "You're much to pretty to have to deal with being fat and having to exercise all the time." She lowered her head slightly. In her mind, she was nothing compared to this pretty mare. Absolutely nothing at all.

Aoibheann smiled, happy that young Neva seemed to be relaxing, off the topic of motherhood. Or so she thought. "I've been pregnant once before," she said, her smile softening with the memory, eyes sparkling. "I felt so fat, after I laid those three beautiful eggs, I felt so sure I must have done a thousand things wrong while I was pregnant, before I realized I was carrying eggs." She laughed ruefully. "Being fat didn't make me feel happy, but I tried to stay healthy, even get back into shape. The hard work paid off after I laid the eggs, and I always gave my children the same advice I'm giving you." That last bit was true, but she hadn't gotten around to discussing pregnancy with her children yet. They weren't at that stage in life yet.
