Laurus crept along the forest floor, following a dragonfly. At first glance, it was just another bug. Wings. Feet. Weird buggy-type eyes. Nothing special. But if you looked closer... There was a double set of wings. Laurus was sure that this was the key to how they seemed to hover in midair and zip around with such precision, whereas regular flys just seemed to wander around in a wobbly flight pattern with no particular aim. He just wasn't sure exactly how it worked.
Which was driving him crazy.
He LIKED to know how things worked. It was kind of an obsession of his... Whenever he found something new, he had to know how it worked. If he couldn't figure it out at first, he'd study it for days, until he had reached as much understanding as he could, or until he found something more interesting to study.
He had a philosophy. There was much more to something than just the obvious purpose. Like a seed. Why did plants have them? Even trees had seeds! Like, those little acorns... Why were they there? For a snack if it was a slow hunting day, of course. Everyone knew that. But after studying seeds off and on over a long period of time, Laurus had figured out a different purpose; plants grew from the seeds. Their hidden purpose was to make more plants! It was ingenious. And that was just one example! Laurus was sure he could find a thousand other purposes for just one tiny seed...

Sneaking away from home was becoming an easier and easier accomplish, now that she thought about it. Savannah had snuck away at least twice this week already, and neither one of her momma's had suspected a thing! Her little heart soared with pride in her abilities while she plotted along the forest, lolling this way and that to look at all the pretty colors.
The little friends, her butterflies, flitted around to all the different flowers and gave them due love. Instinct was lost on this little one and instead of practicing her pouncing skills, she gave them a greeting and went on her merry little way.
Savannah was content with walking. No real purpose in mind or problem to solve; just some good ol' fashioned fresh air. And still, she became bored so easily and required stimulation. So, she went nosing around in the brush, scarring the souls right out of squirrels with hurried attacks and her noises of disappointment when they ran away.
" Oh, oh, HEY! " She'd spotted another dragon close to her in age, with the coolest little heart markings on his rump. His coloration reminded her of the sky and she automatically decided he was the awesomest thing on four feet. Her tail swished this way and that in excitement as she tried to get to him, though he seemed preoccupied, but soon she noticed her problem. " Ah, acorns. I'm stuck again! "

Laurus was closer to the dragonfly than he had ever been before. He was sure that he would be able to see all the minute workings of the creature.
If the thing just stayed there...
Suddenly, a voice burst out, and Laurus looked around in confusion. He glanced back to the rock where the dragonfly had been perched. No dragonfly.
He sighed and trotted over to the brush where a mostly white young female dragon appeared to be... stuck.
"You seem to be in a bit of trouble," he stated dryly.
((Two things occur to me. 1) If they were to have babies together, they would turn out SO cute! and 2) If at least one of those babies was a boy, it'd turn out even girlier than Laurus and Pembe. whee ))

( They would be pretty adorable and with Savannah's family tree, feminimity seems to be running pretty strong, xD. Lets just see how this rp goes, though, k? :3 /can't really imagine Savannah bein' a mom)
Savannah shook her head eagerly, lips pulled into an excited grin despite the situation. Either she didn't notice that she'd cost him something valuable or she didn't really care. With her family life, anything was possible.
" When am I not? " She laughed pleasantly, tugging once more on her lower half only to meet up with the same resistance. " Momma says that if my head wasn't attached to my shoulders that I would lose it. Though, I'm pretty sure that would never happen to you, because you seem like the really super cool type of guy. A little like my brother, but alot less rawr." To emphasise it, Savannah made little snarls and waved her front paws.
" Hey, maybe you could help me out, huh? Then we could play or do something awesome. "

((Yeah, sorry, it would definitely be VERY far into the future if it happened. xd Sorry, I have a bad habit of planning out my dragon's futures when they're still in egg stage. xd ))
Laurus grinned wryly. "Yeah, you do seem like that type..." he chuckled. His face heated up in embarressment when she called him a 'super cool' guy. How did she know? She'd just met him... He didn't think of himself as 'cool' at all... In fact, he suspected that he was kind of a nerd...
He couldn't help but laugh at her attempt at acting vicious.
"Sure, I'll help you out," he grinned, "Just don't use those fearsome claws and teeth on me, kay?" Smiling, he circled behind her and quickly surveyed the situation. Some twigs caught in her mane and a larger branch just under his ribs. First he plucked the twigs free. Then, with a well placed yank, he dislodged the larger branch. She popped free of the bush.
"There ya' go," Laurus grinned.

( Believe me, I know. xD I've seen your work with Syoto, lol. Its all good though, I won't stop you from plotting. :3 )
At his admission to her nature and easy dismissal, Savannah was even more sure that he was awesome. Her brother would have laughed at her and waited for her to figure it out herself, which could take hours, before actually lending a paw. She was so ditzy sometimes.
" As long as you don't provoke the beast, I'll do my best to stay tame. " Giggling, Savannah made sure to stay absolutely still while he did his magic. After a couple seconds had ticked by, she was wondering when he would start tugging her free and to her surprise, he started plucking away at things and boom!, she was free.
The little dragon stretched her legs out and surveyed the damage. She had a few scrapes her and there, but nothing too horrible. With a delighted little leap, she ran around in a wide circle before coming back to his side, gratitude shining in the depths of her stormy blue eyes. " Thank you so much, my blue knight! " Innocently, she reached out and gave him the equivalent to a peck on the cheek in her family; a good rub on his muzzle with her own. " You saved me from certain death, you did. "

((Good. Because trying to stop my plotting will result in... ninja Very bad things. ))
Laurus laughed as she circled the small clearing they were in before returning. She certainly was a hyperactive little thing... Reminded him of a dragonfly... Of course, everything reminded him of a dragonfly these days. That was what happened when he got hooked on a subject.
"Thank you so much, my blue knight!" she exclaimed.
Knight? Laurus thought, Woah, I think that might be going a little too far. I mean, it--
He froze where he stood as she rubbed her muzzle against his own.
"Wasn't that big a deal," he was so surprised that he finished his thought aloud.
He blinked. At that been his first kiss? He didn't even know this girl's name... And already she was kissing him?
Weird. He suspected that no matter how long he studied girl brains, he'd never understand them. It was the same way with his mom; he couldn't understand her thought process at all...

Savannah sat back on her haunches, proud as peach with her ordeal. " Oh, but it was. " She answered, lightly wrapping her tail around her legs in an act similar to her mothers. Unconsciously, she had also taken on the elders stance of complete contentment and inner peace.
Of course, her mothers tail wasn't thumping against the ground, but they couldn't be identical. " Being stuck in a bush wouldn't have been an epic way to die, now would it? Thats not how I plan to go down. "
Boys were so funny. He was trying to pass it all off like he hadn't done anything at all, when in fact, he had helped her out so much. She would definately have to remember him....wait a minute- " Oh! " Savannah chirped, her eyes widening as she leaned forward into his personal space yet again. " My name's Savannah, so, now its your turn. I have to have a name for my knight. "

"I-I guess not," Laurus stammered awkwardly, "but um, I don't think I'd be happy dieing in any way. At least not until I got a lot older... I don't really 'plan on going down' anytime soon..."
"Oh!" she chirped. Laurus ducked instinctively as she totally entered his - as his mother called it - 'bupple' once more. He wondered if she was going to try and kiss him again. Did he want that to happen? ... No, no, he didn't think so. Not yet anyway. They were pretty young to be doing stuff like that... He blinked twice more in confusion as she told him her name, asked for his, and referred to him as a 'knight' again, all in one breath.
"Uh, Laurus," he replied.
Girls were so weird. She was acting like nothing had just happened, when she had kind of, sort of kissed him. Definitely weird.

" So, Laurus, what were you doing? Running away from your mom, too? " Of course, he had to have been doing something and maybe he had an overbearing mother like she did. Savannah was a little tired, so she settled into a relaxed sit, plesantly awaiting him to respond.
Laurus was so stiff! She was well aware that she wasn't normal by other dragon standards, her family had told her that, but she was seriously starting to doubt that. Laurus was the really abnormal one. He almost seemed like he was avoiding her, like he didn't want her to be as chipper, but that was absolutely ridiculous. Who didn't express happiness this way? Oh, that was it! He just wasn't happy. Poor boy.
She'd have to fix that.

((Lol! This will be FUN. rofl Savannah-logic is almost as good as Salano-logic...))
"Uh, no, not really," Laurus blinked again. He seemed to be doing that a lot lately, "Are... you... running away from yours?"
A thought occurred to him. Savannah seemed very energetic... Maybe too much so. He had two theories. First, perhaps her excess energy could be used for something productive... He'd look into it. But in the mean time, he'd go with his second theory: Perhaps he could educate her... She was so energetic, it seemed like she'd even have fun learning! Unlike Pembe, who kind of 'groaned' whenever Laurus tried to teach him how the world worked... Of course right now, Savannah seemed a bit ignorant...
He'd have to fix that.

" A little bit, ya. " Savannah beamed proudly. " I'm amazed she let me get away as far as I did, because I'm sure she's tracking me down at this very minute. Momma is a smart dragon and she doesn't like to let us leave on our own for a while. " Shaking her head, Savannah leaned in to whisper, " She's afraid we'll get kidnapped. "
Pulling back, she looked down sadly and sighed. " I hope she doesn't treat me like this forever. Someday, I want to travel and see the whole world, but I can't do that with her hanging over my shoulder, you know? "
Mothers were a nice sort of people, but sometimes they were just a little too loving. She wanted someone to stick by her side forever, so she would never be lonely and always have fun, but she was sure that no family member could play that role. They would always be worrying and fussing.
Savannah was so lost.

"Well, perhaps your mother has a right to fear that you'll be kidnapped," Laurus replied mildly, already searching the ground for more dragonflies. He'd seen them all over the place during the past few days and - especially with the green ones - you could probably step on one before you even knew it was there. Laurus didn't want to step on one. He wanted to study one. "There are some horrid dragons in these mountains." He glanced at Savannah with a frown. "My mom said that she heard a rumor about this delusional guy who thinks he's a king? And he's been like, kidnapping innocent dragons and making them his 'servants'."
He tipped his head to the side a bit, studying her as she spoke. She wanted to see the world? Laurus wanted to see the world, too... Although he suspected that he wanted to see the world in order to learn about it and understand how it worked, and she no doubt wanted to see the world because she thought it would be 'fun.' Still... It was an admirable goal... She had surprised him... he'd assumed that she was all about butterflies and rainbows and 'pretty' things... But... Maybe there was something more to her?
Maybe she was worth a bit of study?
Laurus shook his head and continued to survey the grass, searching for dragonflies. That was ridiculous. She was obviously just a silly girl. There wasn't anything 'more' to her...
Or was there?

Savannah nodded solemnly, " My mother says the same thing. She told met that if I met a blue dragon with three white stars that I was to run away as fast as possible. He must have done something really bad to make momma mad at him, though. She's usually very calm. " Pouting, Savannah muled over a thought. "I don't want to be a servant, you know. " The little dragon perked up proudly, puffing out her chest in a very manly fashion. "I'm a princess. "
She noticed the way he kept watching the ground, like he was looking for something. Politely, she backed up away from him so that he could continue forward. Her eyes scrunched up. " What are you looking for? Theres nothing down there but bugs and dirt. " He was a funny little boy, this Laurus. Nothing like her warrior of a brother. Quill had a word for it, and she thought it was geek, but she wasn't sure.

"I'm sure you are," Laurus chuckled. She wasn't really a princess, of course, but he could indulge in her childish fantasy for a little while... Maybe this was why she'd been calling him a knight; she had a certain obsession with medieval monarchies...
"Precisely. Bugs and dirt. Exactly what I'm looking for," Laurus replied with a smile, "Mostly bugs, though. A dragonfly, to be exact. Have you ever looked - and I mean really looked - at a dragonfly before? Fascinating..."
