Nathaniel (Teh Zan) & Farlest (o0 Sephiros Immortal 0o)
There seemed to be a feeling of deja vu in the air. The British lad had a strange feeling that he had something very similar to this only recently. That, perhaps only a few days ago, the same thing had happened. Nathaniel raised an eyebrow as he adjusted his bag on his shoulder, tilting his head to the side. Today, he was walking towards the mall in attempt to find something or other in one of the stores. He wasn't quite sure what he needed exactly, but a vague idea was enough. And if it wasn't, there was always the book store or the option of going back to the dormitories and looking for Jaden. Neither one was a bad option, so he felt sort of relieved to not be so strictly bound. It was weird to be on this level with people, and very difficult. He was still having trouble not snapping at people, or making conversation. When you've looked at people the way Nat had for so long, it was hard to see them as something else. No matter. As he reached the mall he half-wondered if he'd have any more of those random encounters with Jaden's friend. Ahah! That was the deja vu. Yes, only a few days ago, he had met Zach, who had pulled him over in the mall. Unfortunately, he had a feeling something like that was going to happen again, only this time he wasn't sure he wanted to be threatened. It was tiresome to have to 'reassure' all these people that he could protect Jaden and would not harm him without them diving down his throat like beasts.
And indeed, the sense of deja vu was indeed a good one, for there was yet another of Jaden's friends about, though in a contest, Farlest would likely beat Zach into the floor if said contest was physical, Farlest was also several hundred times lest likely to threaten anyone. Fairly bouncing along, he too was headed for the mall, off to buy some snacks for study time later, and a book...the latter being a reward once study was over. Bright green eyes noticed Nathaniel quite quickly, however, and though he'd seen the other before, he'd never really talked to him, with a grin, he jogged towards the British boy, waving a hand. "Hey! Nathaniel, right?" It was but a moment before the slender, pretty young man was right alongside the other.
Unlike last time, Nathaniel didn't pause in his proceeds through the mall, but merely glanced at the other and assessed him. All these people knowing his name, he was definitely some sort of topic of gossip. It seemed almost exasperating, but not once did Nathaniel think that it wasn't worth it. The other youth has eyes as bright as his, though maybe more bright than toxic. Running a nervous hand through his hair, he slowed his pace slightly, "Yes... are you one of Jaden's friends?" Best get this out of the way before it became awkward somehow. The Brit wasn't sure how well he could deal with things like this.
Ah well, pegged right off the bat then. Far laughed softly, green eyes fairly glowing, and he nodded quickly, "Yes, I certainly am." Bowing deeply at the waist, he carefully surveyed the other, as though making counter-assessment. So this was the lauded Nathaniel, who caused instantaneous puppy-eyed love in Jaden. Interesting. He seemed a quieter sort, like Ka was. That figured. "Farlest Kanataki. And it's a pleasure to meet you."
Bowing? The youth raised a bit of a brow at that notion, but mimicked the gesture with less grandeur. After that, he held out his hand lightly, having stopped his walking to pay attention to the other. It was only proper when someone was speaking to give them one's full attention, whether they deserved it or not. As a friend of Jaden's, Nathaniel could spare the time. He surely didn't want any annoyances to come upon his boyfriend because of a mishap with him. That would have been quite the disaster! "Nathaniel Jacobson. Yes, a pleasure..." He trailed off lightly, wondering what this one wanted. Or if he wanted anything at all. He reminded himself, gently, that people didn't always have to have motives and maybe just did things because they did. He let out a small sigh and then let his emerald colored eyes look at the other. Jaden did keep some interesting company, that was for sure.
It bemused Farlest, for though he'd been raised with an oriental mother, he'd met very few people who even bothered to semi-return the greeting in the same fashion, save awkwardly. "I've heard a lot about you." He continued with a lopsided grin, "We'd hardly get any of our homework done, Jaden and I, for all he'd go on." Really, Farlest had felt almost girly when he'd talk about Ka, and Jaden would to on about Nat. Their own personal boys. "I've been looking forward to meeting you, and I haven't seen much of Jaden lately, so things are going well, I'm assuming...?" Brushing a quick hand through long, dark hair, it seemed the teen wore a constant smile, always bright, happy and energetic.
Nathaniel folded his arms across his chest, not out of any sort of negative emotion, but more to have something to do. It wasn't that he was fidgeting, just more along the lines of he wanted to have his hands somewhere other than at his sides. There was a slight flush across his cheeks, but he looked away until he felt better about it. It always unsettled him to know that Jaden was talking about him. What kind of things did his little blond American say? Finally, when he could look back at Farlest, he gave a grin, the best he could come up with, awkward though it was. "I haven't heard anything about you," and little did Nat know how rude that sounded. To him it was simply truth. "Jaden rarely tells me about his friends... but yes things are well. He's happy."
Farlest blinked at that, head tilting, but quickly judging that the other didn't mean ill by it, and instead laughed softly. "Well, I suppose not, I'm rather unremarkable, and Jaden has more friends than he probably thinks he does. He used to get all mopey and puppy-eyed over you, I'm terribly glad that he's happy now." Really, there was something almost adorable about this British teen that Jaden was so infatuated by, and Farlest could see just why his blond study partner was hooked. "You're a science student here, correct?" Amusing, that, considering the little faerie-child that Jaden was.
"Not quite yet, but I will be very shortly," Nathaniel said almost protectively, as if he was unhappy with his current status. But more importantly... mopey and puppy-eyed Jaden? To this he raised an eyebrow and tilted his head to the side. He was unaware of how 'adorable' he was, or anything of that sort really. He trudged on, getting a little too curious and nearly ready to demand answers, though he was quite sure Farlest would give them. He seemed to be a kind and agreeable sort of boy; Nathaniel had no problem tolerating him, or talking to him for that matter. "Mopey? Jaden used to get mopey? Over me? What does he say about me?" There was no more emotion in it other than serious curiosity, what was odd was that he was even asking. Nathaniel was not the sort to ask things like this, not ever. Jaden brought a whole new piece to the puzzle and it seemed that the British lad found himself doing more and more things he wouldn't otherwise. These questions were just another example. Part of him was worried, but part of him wanted to know. Still, why didn't he just ask Jaden directly? He had patience. Oh well. He'd already spoken, might as well stay to hear the answer.
Oh goodness, it was just getting better all the time. Having to stifle the urge to snicker gleefully at being the bearer of such news, he instead smiled serenely, "Oh yes." He started matter-of-factly, "Jaden was quite convinced that should he tell you what he thought of you you would likely never talk to you again, and so he'd pine away, draw little pictures and journal in elven about you, that sort of thing. It's horrendously sentimental, but that's Jaden. He really is quite fond of you." Clasping the other on the shoulder, he leaned in, just barely looking up at the other teen. "And believe me, if you ever want advice..." A quick wink, "I'll be more than happy to give it to you, at least where Jade's concerned." Retreating then, he laughed, near to clapping his hands with delight. Now if he could only see them together, they'd be frightfully cute, and probably bumblingly awkward. Perfect.
Nathaniel was taken aback by how quickly the other gave it up, and how strange what he gave up was. Pictures, elven? Sentimental things like that? His face flushed a little more and he made a mental note to ask Jaden about it later. Surely the other would be okay with it, right? Was there ...some kind of privacy he should be aware of? It was about him, and they -were- going out now, so wasn't it okay? And then, he stiffened. The other was close, too close, and too friendly, and a little too cheerful and giggly about the whole thing. Nathaniel felt a disgusted urge to jump back, but refrained for it would be rude. His expression barely changed, save for the slight twitch of his eye. He was -not- used to people like this, and for sure he didn't want to be. "I'm not sure what kind of advice you mean... but if I ever need it, I shall seek you out..." Nat responded, more to be polite than really meaning it, for now he was slightly frightened by the near maniacal response of the other. Were two boys together really that 'adorable' that he had to nearly squeak with joy?
Instantaneously realizing what he'd done, hands were quite neatly tucked behind his back, and Far's expression turned sheepish. "I'm sorry, I've probably gone and popped your personal space bubble." His tone was sincerely apologetic. "I didn't mean to, I tend to get..." He pulled a wry grimace, "Overexcited about things like that. Ka'hmesh would likely smack me, and Jaden would be red as a beet if he could see what I just did. I'm making a fool of myself, aren't I...?" He could be serious, just like anyone else, thank you just the same, and the last thing he wanted was to leave a completely bad impression on Jaden's boyfriend.
Nathaniel dusted himself off a little, not to emphasize that he'd been bothered by the other, but simply because he felt better to do so. It wasn't that he hated personal physical contact, it was just that he didn't really like being that close to anyone, save for Jaden. He was still so new to socialization that that moment had been a bit rough. He ran his fingers through his honey-brown hair and shook his head, shrugging a little as if in acceptance, "It's... fine, I guess. Not quite a fool."
Far's expression was still one of slight mortification, "But almost, if I'm right." Shaking his head, more at himself than anything else, he sighed softly, "But yes...I just wanted to meet you, introduce myself, and if possible not make myself out a complete idiot. At least I managed the first two. Jaden's opinion of you is so very high, after all." There was a momentary pause, and the teen pursed lips slightly, "Did you two just hit it off...? Or was it more complicated than that?"
He would have to remember to talk to Jaden later. Some of the American's friends said such interesting things. He knew that Jaden was fond of him, that the blond admired him even. But was his opinion of Nathaniel really so high? The Brit was curious. What was it really... that Jaden liked so much? It was quite clear, Nat thought, what he liked about Jaden. And then the other was talking again and he had to snap to attention, "Hm? Oh." He paused, wondering quite how to answer. "More complicated..." He said slowly, not sure how in detail he wanted to get. He didn't know Farlest well enough to feel happy telling him the entire story. He wasn't sure anyone even deserved to know. It wasn't exactly something to give out. Besides, Nathaniel wasn't one for gossip.
Indeed, more like Ka than Jaden and he had surmised initially. "I figured that it might have been so." Far responded casually, head tilting to one side, "You two don't seem the sort to do anything easy, I know Jaden isn't. He has to get so meticulous about everything...enough to drive himself to distraction sometimes. It can be utterly adorable too." Far made a soft, amused sound. "I'm sorry, you came to the mall to get something didn't you? And I'm here distracting you. What was it? We might be going the same way." Best to look for redemption whilst it was still to be found.
"Adorable...?" muttered Nathaniel. He was thoroughly confused by Farlest at this point, but there was little else to be done. He said things that were both interesting and embarassing, but for that the Brit didn't dislike him at all. He was rather amused by this friend of his boyfriend. Especially by this idea of redemption the other seemed to be going for. He blinked and tilted his head, "It wasn't anything specific... don't ah... don't worry too much?" Nathaniel never said things like that, but he figured that perhaps it was needed. Something in him told him that that was a good thing to say. "I'll probably head over to the book store either way."
He nodded quickly, "Mmmhmm." Choosing just to leave the word at that. If Nathaniel didn't understand, well...he surely would in time, one way or another. "Well, I was going to buy a book, something fun to read once I got done with required reading for the evening." He pulled a face, "As much fun as learning is, there are basic classes that I just have to plod through." Bouncing just a little bit, he started to head towards the bookstore. "Coming with?"
"..." Nathaniel looked oddly at the other, staring for a moment. It hadn't really ocurred to him that they would honestly go together. That someone would actually not hate him and want to leave him immediately. That for once... someone aside from Jaden... actually enjoyed his company. Or was this tolerance? There was a bit of shock, but Nathaniel gave a smile, a bright and true smile, the first he'd given Farlest, and nodded, "Sure." And then he hopped slightly forward, to be next to him and not fall behind, and began to walk with him. This was strange wasn't it? Just a little? Or maybe... it was everything else that was strange. Maybe for once... this was normal. Yea. Maybe.
