Between the bustling people on the street and the honking of the yellow taxi cab horns Lillian could have sworn that it was Christmas time all over again. At least it wasn't too crowded here in Durem like it was on Gambino Island. To the young lass it seemed like people were getting ready for summer to roll around. Least that's what she guessed by all the swim wear, shorts, and tank tops people were walking out of shops with.
The trio gather outside a clothing store as they tried to figure out where to go. Rarely did they ever venture down to Durem and now that they were here both Tyson and Lillian had no clue where to go.
As Lil and Tyson bickered over the directions placed on the town map that sat beside a phone booth, Iorek took this time to glance around. At last he was able to stop and stare at the new area. The buildings here were much higher than in Gambino and they did not possess the flare that was found on the island. It was all very strange. This place reminded him of the dark depths of Gotham, a dreary home of one of the heroes in a comic book he loved so much.
Iorek suddenly cringed when he heard a sharp crack sound in his neck. A tingling pain raced down his spine as he craned his head up to stare at what he believed were gargoyles resting on top of one of the buildings. Why did they have to be so high that his neck had to hurt?
The raevan grumbled with dismay as he brought a large hand up to rub the sensitive stone flesh. Enough of staring at the buildings. Instead, Iorek turned his vibrant green eyes to look onto the crowd of people. All kinds of different humans were walking about on this day. The poor, the rich, the very pink ones, the bizarre ones, and other kinds of fleshy beings too varied to describe were trudging all about him.
Iorek quickly moved away from a burly man dressed in black with piercings that littered his face. A pin cushion with frightening features was all Reks could say about the man as he drifted a few feet away. Why someone would want to do that to their skin the raevan would never know. The only answer Iorek could think up as he floated two heads above the crowd was this: Some humans were just bizarre little creatures.

Tsu breathed the dirty city air in deeply. There was something about Durem that set him more at ease than the rich areas of Gambino. Sure there were less bikini clad women when you got further away from the beach, but there were also more actual bars and less of these clubs that the tourists seemed to prefer. Tsu had dragged Zave out for some bonding time, but at the last minute decided that he didn't really care to go to that maid cafe today. He didn't have that big of a sweet tooth to begin with. So instead the two were wandering the streets looking in windows at some of the summer wear and all in all just spending a day... not talking to each other. So much for bonding.
Zave on the other hand was not enjoying the outing so much. For some reason, Durem's air always felt more stale. If they were going to spend some time just wandering about... the beach or even the mountains would be so much more preferred. "Hey Tsu, why did we even come here in the first place if you weren't going to buy something?" Zave complained. The words were useless as Tsu pushed through another throng of people that seemed to have been let out of the movie theater. "I'm seriously going to leave yo--" Suddenly, something moving in the corner of his eye caught his attention. About a couple of heads above the rest of the crowd of people, was a large stone being. It looked like one of those gargoyles that people used as decorations on old gothic buildings, but why would someone be carrying one around here...? As he was just about to puzzle over that, the gargoyle blinked his green eyes. "Hey Tsu! Tsu!! I think there's a raevan over there! Let's go take a look?"
Before Tsu could even get in a response, Zave was off in the direction of the floating creature. Sighing Tsu muttered "Sure... why not? It's not like I've found anything I can afford anyway." Making sure one of his best fake smiles was on his face, he chased after his charge's retreating figure.

“I think if we go straight we’ll wind up at the diner in less than ten minutes. That then gives us plenty of time to eat and run over to shop for clothes…” Lillian stated as she traced a diligent index finger over the plastic map.
Tyson peered over his sister’s shoulder with a terrible scowl rooted on his face. “Now hold on Lillian!” The lad growled as he balanced on his tiptoes. “You promised we’d go to Mars-X to look at those new comic books! Why don’t we go get a pretzel at one of the stands, go to Mars-X, and then look for those clothes.” Tyson too raised an index finger but instead it was directed at a colorful red and yellow cart on the sidewalk. “There’s one right there! I’m guessing it’s a ten SECOND walk to get there.”
Lillian squinted as her eyes turned to the less than approving stall. Who knew what kind of bacteria was gathering there…”No. We are going to the diner. It’s the closest and it’s just ten minutes away. I think you’re legs can handle that and then if you have a good attitude we’ll see about going to the comic book store later….”
Iorek was barely keeping up with the kids as they pursued into another heated argument. He had learned to just phase out whenever they started. Even if he was strong physically mentally he was not ready to handle that kind of wear and tear. With a shake of his head the raevan turned his eyes to look back into the crowd. Sure these humans were bizarre but Iorek had noticed in the last few weeks he’d join the ranks of people watcher. No human was alike, each one had a personality, a look, a history, and a way they carried themselves….So peculiar and-Iorek’s train of thought suddenly crashed into a wall when his eyes landed on a white haired young man coming straight for him. For a second his body went rigid. For a moment he wasn’t sure if he needed to protect or not. The oncoming man was dressed in blue and the wings that adorned his back told him that they held some kind of connection, ‘course the absence of a lower was a good heads up too. “Hm?” Iorek drifted to float before the kids as he turned, looking at the raevan with great curiosity and uncertainty. “Hello?” He voiced when the other was near enough to hear him.

Zave slowed down when he realized that the other raevan had come in between him and something else.... realizing that rushing out of nowhere might cause any one good reason to panic. "Hello?" the other frei called out to Zave. Somehow the voice reminded him of gravel... raspy, but not unpleasant. "Erm... Hi," finally coming to a stop, Zave put on his friendliest smile towards the other. He hoped they would interpret that as they didn't mean any harm to anyone. "My name's Zavier. I don't think we've had a chance to meet before, so it's nice to meet you." Zave bowed his head politely.
It was about that time that Tsu ran smack into Zave's back and the two of them tumbled forward towards the other group. "First you go running off, and then you decide to suddenly stop. Make up your mind already." Tsu grumbled loudly rubbing his nose in an irritated manner. It was bad enough fighting through the crowds, but during sale season it seemed that every possible bargain hunter had crawled out of there hole and filled the streets, leading to more irritation from the doctor. He really just wanted to hit the book store to see if Ms. July had put out a new centerfold or not, and maybe see what the new fashions were for the girls... and just how much they revealed.... but nooooo... he was now a prisoner of war. Trapped in enemy lines where 40-something-year-old mothers were fighting like lionesses over the spoils of their kill. Finally looking up, Tsu came to understand why Zave had been so excited.
"What do we have here? Another one of the raevans from the lab? Let's see, let's see... who is this one? One from stone? It's been a while since I've seen any of the other ones besides Lazarus or Rivener. Stone seems to be really rare... you'd think I'd remember this."
"Tsu... you're being rude!!" Zave chided the man, before offering an apologetic grimace to the stone frei that still stood between them and two younger children who seemed to be in a rather heated debate. "This is Tsu... he's my... erm... guardian I guess. Although sometimes it feels the other way around. What's your name?"

Iorek blinked rapidly as his mind tried to catch up with just how swiftly things were moving. One minute the being similar to himself was kindly introducing himself in a manner humans would say was polite and the next both he and a two legger were toppling towards him. Looks like the human was the clumsy to this raevan's grace.
"Ah! C-Careful..." Iorek said with concern as he responded to the two's collision almost as quick as it had occurred. In an act to save the two an unfortunate trip to the pavement he quickly hurried forward and outstretched his large arms to catch their forms. Like swan wings that would raise to cover the babies on it's back, the stone raevan's arms came around to pull the two men by their shoulders closer to him. Still rather wary, mainly due to how quickly the pace had been that he was introduced to them, Iorek kept his dominating height.
Looking down questionably at them Iorek began to ask "Are you alright?" But fell silent before he could finish "alright" so the man who had interrupted the blue one, Zavier, with his careening body could speak.
Listening intently, unsure if he was addressing him or simply chittering to himself Iorek's long ears raised and twitched to show Tsu he had almost achieved his full attention. But part of Iorek's mind was still tinkering away for a reasonable response to the white haired raevan.
When a break came in the man's questioning Iorek jumped at the chance to snag the dead air. "I-I'm Iorek!" He glanced down at them both and smiled gently. That was the easiest way to begin he guessed. Hopefully the man wouldn't mind if he interrupted his thoughts to reply to Zavier's earlier greeting.
Hearing the man say 'Rivener' allowed Iorek to feel comfortable giving them more information. He had met the raevan a while ago and the guardian to that fellow was a trusted friend of Lil's and Ty's. They must be safe to speak to. "I know Rivener...and yes...I'm made of stone that's why I look different than him and him." He said meaning Rivener and by turning his head to look at Zavier that meant he was the second of whom he spoke of.
"I'm new I suppose...I-It's a pleasure to meet you both. I-I hope I please you..." Reks replied with another smile in tow after he breathlessly finished his quick reply to both their questions. Before he could inhale any air though the trio was joined by two more.
"What the heck is going on here?" Lillian barked as she had finally taken notice of Iorek's leave only to find him a few feet away with his hands on two strange men. "Are they giving you problems, Reks?" She asked with a scowl, coming up next to the raevan on his right side. Her eyes narrowed and glared daggers at the two men Iorek had been conversing with.
As Tyson came up next to his sister, the boy didn't seem at ease with the strangers either. Unlike Lillian though he quickly recognized that one was a raevan. "Oh! Hey! Lil the white haired one is a raevan...they're from the lab." He pipped up with a prod to his sister's arm.
"Hmm?" Lillian growled as she looked between them both, searching for the reason to trust them.
"Yes...Lil please be calm. They mean us no harm. Both are kind." Iorek replied as he released the man called Tsu and his new friend Zavier. In order to show Lillian he felt safe, the youth sank down to float lower than Zave, the sign for they held his trust. "This is Zavier and his guardian Tsu. Zavier, Tsu, these are my guardians Lillian and Tyson Maevin." Iorek replied, his smile remaining as he pointed to his care givers, very pleased to recognize himself as theirs.
