Oh you know what I'm talking about. The lovely little five pointed star in a circle we know better as the Pentacle, that's been horribly demonized (despite our efforts to turn that viewpoint around). What's your opinion on wearing it outside(whether in jewelry form or on a t-shirt) in public?

Or how about a thors hammer? Or perhaps other symbols that have been horribly tainted? Should we wear them as a personal statement of beliefs? How 'bout those who wear them out of rebellion? (and I don't mean those teeny boppers who get into Wicca for a week just to piss off daddy for not buying them Pokemon Platinum the day it came out.) Feedback!!!! Write it!!! scream

...and I am about halfway through Platinum right now, the gym badges are so messed up compared to Silver and Gold sweatdrop (last ones I pwned)

well in my case I do wear a pentacle,or pentegram as I call it, but mine is more like an amulet, is costume made, so I dont like showing it too much, but there is ocattions when Im on the pool, or beach, and people see, and come and start asking questions about it, so I have to explain about it, but in my family I dont have to worry about it, and must of my friend know Im a magick aprentice and practitioner, so when Im around them, I dont hide it.

Some people are afraid to wear a pentacle because of whatever negative feedback they may get. The thing is, as one of my old councilors used to say ... erm, something about rather not wear a dead man around your neck (referring to the cross with Jesus on it).

A lot of people, sadly, think the pentacle, or the pentagram, is a symbol of the devil. I've known it isn't, but I don't wear mine all the time. I have several, and, since I don't go out that much, I have them in a special jewelry box. I do wear them when I go to CUUPS, or to Salem, or to an Open House at a metaphysical store, or Pagan Pride Day. I don't really fear wearing one in public, it's just that I don't want some person coming up and saying I'm an "evil witch" and giving me a hard time.

What I do wear a lot, ever since I was 14, is a dragon claw pendant my old best friend gave me. When people see it, I tell them why I wear it, but not what it means to me. What it actually means to me is that I have a dragon guardian spirit.

*settles down into story-telling mode*

I was 14, and it was shortly after my grandmother had died, when I had gone over to my old best friend Candy's house to spend the night. It was mid-afternoon when Candy, her boyfriend, and I were in her bedroom, I was lying on her bed, taking a nap. When I was beginning to wake up, not quite out of sleep just yet, I mumbled something, which Candy later told me it sounded like "Hei-Toan, Teel-Shund". Then I stirred awake, and my eyes focused on something on Candy's night table - it was a necklace of a dragon's claw like I've never seen before; the orb has honeycomb-like facets, and the pewter claw has more detail than other dragon claws I've seen (and with others, I would usually find them with smooth orbs). I looked at the claw, and for some reason, I said, "Malnore". At this time, Candy and her boyfriend were looking at me strange, but she let me keep the dragon claw. I still have it to this day, I wear it as it's a part of me, and I only take it off at certain times.
A short time later that day we were in a discussion about a past life. The era was called "The Beginning Time", a past time Candy shared with another friend of hers, as well as some others she knew. Her name back then was "Star Flower" ... or, "Hei-Toan". She was a druid. I came to find out what "Teel-Shund" meant later.

This wasn't the only weird thing that happened to me concerning The Beginning Time. One day when I was in my yard (actually it was my great-grandmother's house my family and I were living in at the time) and I found this ... what looked to be a staff to me, although it wasn't that tall. It looked like it had carvings of long, slim insects with long, wavy legs. I had put that in the laundry room on the back porch of the house. Either that night or the night after I found it, I had this dream that there was an old wizard looking at me very sternly - he was wearing dark purple and light blue robes, and in the background there was a mountain with thunder and lightning going on around it. I woke up after seeing the image in my dreams, guessing this is the wizard the staff belonged to ... or something like that. The next time I went into the laundry room to retrieve the staff, it was gone.

One of Candy's friends came over to my house one time, and she led me into a guided meditation through my third eye, which I remember it's multi-colored. It was through that, and other re-awakened memories and dreams, that I remembered who I was during the Beginning Time, what happened to me, who Malnore was to me, and who the wizard was to me.

Malnore is one of my totem spirits, in my Beginning Time past life he was somewhat of a guardian and teacher of mine, and a close friend. Gildron, the wizard in the blue and purple robes, was my teacher in the magic school The Council of Nine Wizards had on top of the mountain, Khar-Shund. As you can see, Teel-Shund is the opposite of Khar-Shund.

When I began role-playing online back in 2000, I based my first and main online character, Nerilaith, off of my Beginning Time past life. Her history is the same as mine in that life, of what I do remember, and I also mixed in some other things, like Malnore being her father (she didn't know that until he told her much, much later), and when he was defeated by an evil wizard and killed, his dying wish was to have an amulet made (the dragon claw) and have his spirit contained within. He protects her from physical and magical harm (when the amulet is on her), and also supplies her with immortality (there was a storyline segment of her past I wrote about how she was supposed to be immortal, but that was taken away from her - I'll save that for some other time).

Do you have to be wicca to have a penticle?

but, what about wicca does it represent. I think that I believe in things that are similar to wiccan beliefs, but i dont beleive in the God and Goddess, so i cant be a wiccan.

The Pentacle represents the five elements that make up life; earth, air, fire, water, and spirit. They're linked together with a circle, as life moves in circles, and that a circle is often used for protection. Spirit is usually the topmost point, that's why you sometimes see pentacles inverted. Pointing downwards indicates "power unto oneself" where pointing up it symbolizes "power working for a higher goal". Being a religion that based on doing whatever makes you happy, Satanists adopted the inverted pentacle, and thats why you typically dont see it worn around public, if at all.

Pentacles are often worn not only as a statement of faith, but also as a protective amulet, and to remind us that the elements are everywhere, and in everything.

Hope it helped!
