Spring.
A time for rebirth.
A time for new encounters.
None of this was particularly on Echo's mind as she accidentally trod over a fresh patch of growing flowers. The mare stopped as the scent of the blossoms were released into the air and she inhaled deeply before eying the damage she'd done. A flick of her tail was the only sign of regret shown as Echo continued on her meandering path.
Her full name was Echo's Song but mostly she just preferred the simplicity of Echo. Spring was a time to rejoice and although it did not show in her expression, deep inside she did care about the turning of the season. Methodically she checked her position before coming to an abrupt halt. There - nestled in a grove of trees - was the prize she sought. Glancing around and not seeing anyone in close vicinity Echo edged closer to the wooded grove with the excitement of the find rippling through her.

Raffaele cantered easily through the grove, making it seem easy to weave in and out of the trees without a single stumble or running into any branchs. He was quite happy that the snow had finally melted, and that it was spring once more. A season that was neither too hot, nor too cold, and brought most Soquili out of hiding. A good time to start families, or at the very least have a good time.
He finally emerged out of the grove, not twenty feet from the mare whose colors seemed familiar to him, but he couldn't say where from. Sliding to a stop, and digging up some flowers in the process, he then turned to face her. "Hello." He said shaking a bit of dirt and flowers off his hooves, not that the dirt mattered since it would blend with his coat, the only advantage he had found with his coat color.

Echo stopped abruptly at the sight of the brown stallion in front of her. Whatever she had been expecting - this was not it. She had thought the grove before her had only one entrance. Perhaps she had been wrong all along. Dipping her head in acquiescence Echo huffed silently. Were her carefully laid out plans ruined now?
Flicking her gaze towards the sky as if searching for answers Echo did not see the stallion shaking debris from his hooves. However she did notice when a small rock struck her side. It didn't hurt at all but it drew her attention back to the earth - in a way.
"Hello. A nice day isn't it?"
Ugh. Small talk. Echo hated that. It sounded so false when used. What else could she say though? This Unicorn Soq was a total stranger to her.

Raffaele was rather surprised by her first question, if only for the fact that speaking of the weather seemed like a last ditch effort to keep a conversation going. Not the beginning of one, which usually started with an introduction. "It is nice enough, a welcome change after the bitterly cold winter." He said with a toss of his mane. "I am Raffaele." He added after a moment. "What is your name?" He then asked, as he tried to remember where he had seen those colors before.

Okay now I'm confused. I thought only I knew about this grove. How did he manage just to appear from it as if by magic? I hate mysteries sometimes.
With a resigned sigh Echo glanced upwards to see Raffaele contemplating something. The mare couldn't fathom the reaction she was obviously causing the stallion and she pawed at the earth before realizing that she'd been asked a question. She flicked her tail briefly against her body before responding.
"My name is Echo's Song. It is a pleasure to meet you Raffaele."
Muttering under her breath she added the comment, "If I only knew who you were."
