It was hot, and dry. "Ugh." There was dust everywhere. In his fur, in his eyes, in his mouth. He'd kill for some nice water. Or maybe a flood. Funny, he'd never thought drowning would suddenly become his chosen way to die. He'd found shade earlier in the day in the lee of one of the large cliffs he'd been wandering between, but with the sun directly overhead now there was nothing to do but walk and pray he found some sort of overhang. Or a tree. "Hell at this point I'd lad down under a lion for shade," He chuckled sourly to himself.

He was hungry too, and his already svelte body had grown faded and even thinner. Mediocre at hunting, he hadn't been able to catch any of the local prey. They knew where to hide and always just got away, to his shame. "Aaaahhh! Isn't there anythign to eat around?" He'd cried at his most recent failure. As if to kick him when he was down, a passing bird had taken that moment to relieve itself while flying overhead.

Suffice to say, Kuku wasn't having fun anymore.

Really, she just could not help herself. The large lioness threw her head back, letting out a fit of laughter. This completely gave away her position a bit behind the male, but it was just too funny.

How could she not hold the beliefs she did when she found males like this roaming about? It was easy to see his fatigue, his hunger. And even easier to see that he was hopeless and alone in her land. She could have run him out without much fuss.. But this was exactly the type of male she was looking for, wasn't it?

Getting herself back under control, she stood easily from her position laying in the dead and dry brush. Offering up a neutral smile, her head held high, she gracefully moved across the short distance, stopping a few feet to the male's side.

" It would seem... That you are having a few difficulties in my land. What brings you out so far into an area you can not handle? " She asked him curiously, not yet bothering to offer an introduction as she watched him tensely. He make look hopeless, but she wasn't about to let her guard down before a potential threat. She had already learned from that mistake long ago.

Kuku would have started at the laughter if he'd still had the energy to manage it. Instead he managed only to grind to a halt, a puff of dust rising from his fur, jolted off by his cessation of motion. He sagged a bit as he heard the lioness approach. He turned his head away so she couldn't make out the look on his face as she stood beside him.

As she spoke he hunkered down, belly to the dirt. Still looking away, it was impossible to know if he was afraid or not. His ears did twitch about at her words though, a clear sign he wasn't so far gone as not to hear her. A beat passed after her words, and finally he took a shaky breath.

"...SHAAAADE!" He cried, and promptly rolled his ay right under the lioness, sprawling in the shade under her belly. If she'd looked down she would have seen a rather absurd look plastered across his face. His eyes were closed and his ears perked up happily. His tongue lolled out almost like a dog's with his delight. "Shaaaade~" He repeated, wiggling about like an overgrown child.

Complete and total bewilderment was the best way to describe the look on the young lioness face as she stared out at the place where the Cheetah HAD be standing just as moment ago.

Her head tilted down slowly after a moment to stare down at the male who was now... under her, wiggling around in the dirt. Somehow, she could no longer see this creature as a threat at all. He was... insane. Definitely insane. Perhaps the heat had effected his mind?

Letting out a sigh of annoyance toward the kind nature buried down in her.. somewhere, the lioness shifted from over the odd little cheetah, casting him in the light again as she began walking. " Come on then. Can you walk, or shall I drag you? The dens and a stream are not far off from here. "

She really couldn't just leave the unfortunate male out in the sun. He seemed to be harmless enough, and she was more than strong enough to handle a cheetah. Shaking her head a bit, she went on for the dens, expecting him to follow.

"W-wait! Noo..." Kuku whined and rolled to his feet when the lioness moved away. The shade! It was gone! But it'd been so nice...The brief respite had revived him, and mention of a den and a...a stream? Could it really be?! Well he certainly had energy for that!

In a puff of dust he was after her, running like he was as fresh as the first day he'd entered the canyon. In a blur he was past her...he skidded to a stop, kicking up more dust in the process.

"Ah...which way is the water, ma'am?" He bounced on the balls of his feet and pranced in place a bit...Was this really the same male that had just been about to fall over with exhaustion?
