Ah, the sun. Quil stretched his considerable bulk, revelling in the warmth penetrating his fur. It felt good to be outside again, after being penned up for a while. He curled his lip a little, revealing a short length of sharp teeth. Really, if the humans here didn't want a 'situation', then they should know better than to have allowed that sentry-human to be the one to escort him to his 'check up'.

After a person gets burned in the arse once or twice, they tend to get irrational, and make threatening moves at an obviously stronger pokemon.

Shaking his head sharply, the Typhlosion allowed himself a moment of smugness. The sentry-human who'd escorted him to this yard was staying well enough away, this time. Good. Quil stood, briefly, on his hind legs and glanced around. If there was no other creature here, then he would simply practice his fighting skills alone, as he had intended- no need to let them rust.

However, if there was another creature... well. He would see what happened. Strangely, few of the other pokemon here were willing (or fit, as he remembered his first meeting with Bliss) to match him.

Shianna's bulk was moving slowly down toward the exercise yard. Her wings were tucked in close to her body, and she grumbled a little as she moved. Today would be a good day for sunning, but her usual spot didn't feel right at the moment. Her good eye caught the motion of a smaller pokemon moving and she moved her head in that direction. Hmmm...

She moved over to the Typhlosion, as quietly as a dragon can, and plunked down right next to it, stretching her wings out and blocking his sun.

I have yet to meet you before, she stated simply, her good eye staring at him unblinking.

Startled by the sudden appearance of a ... rather large dragon... Quil snarled, briefly letting fire dance across his shoulders in surprise. When the other pokemon- for a pokemon it must be, even if he'd never run across one like this before- made no further moves, he let the flames die, but did not lower himself down to four legs.

No. He responded, eyeballing the other pokemon warily, unnerved by her one eyed stare. I've never seen you. But I'm not permitted out very often. Here, he couldn't repress a small, satisfied smirk. I am 'unreasonably aggressive.'

Quickly irritated at his sudden lack of sunlight, Quil dropped to his fours soon after, and moved out towards the front of the strange pokemon, to an area free of her wings.

Shianna laughed. Unreasonably aggressive? That was a new one to her. She let her tail curl around her body as she slowly sank down onto her belly, her wings tilting to better catch the light as she sunned. You don't look like you really could harm much, no offense intended. To Shianna, not much was really threatening. But she knew better than to judge by looks alone.

I am sure you have your danger.

Quil bristled visibly at the insult- or percieved insult- to his strength, growling low in his throat. 'Not harm much'? Who did this pokemon think she was? While normally, the Typhlosion would swiftly follow such a comment with the opening move of an attack, he was in no mood to be confined to his cell again so soon.

Though he couldn't be counted on to show as much restraint if further insults were given.

Growling a little louder to himself, Quil huffed. When you burn several humans through the course of a day with the intent of turning their skins to charcoal, the idiot things get uppity.

Yes well the only way to really get rid of them is to eat them, Shianna said nonchalantly. Yawning her mouth wide open to expose her teeth she chuckled. Not that I would suggest such an action at the moment, they taste rather horrid.

Craning her neck down to get closer to the Typholosion she smirked. I am called Shianna, and your name is?

That would take longer for me than you. He showed no signs of intimidation by the creature's considerably large maw- more likely because of his continuing ability of not being a good judge of what would be too much for him to handle, than anything else. So I'll have to take your word for it. They don't look appetizing, anyway.

I was called Quil by my first trainer. The name stuck around.

Shianna laughed again, the tip of her tail flicking. They don't do they? shaking her head she bumps the Quil with her snout before laying it back down on the ground.

It is good to meet you Quil, though I must say your trainer lacked imagination.

Surprised by the unexpected bump, Quil shied a little away from Shianna, and snorted. Ugly things. No markings, just a lot of fur on their heads. Pink as newborns. I don't know how the tell each other apart- they don't even have senses worth anything.

He lifted a lip in a sneer. Yes, they did. I don't care, anyway- one name is as good as the next.

The Typhlosion let his gaze rove for a moment. He hadn't done anything he'd planned on doing today, yet. But.. He let himself study Shianna. She would be a good fight, if she'd get up. She didn't seem like she wanted to do anything but sun, though.

Shianna snorted a little and rolled her shoulders. I can't say I'm overly impressed with their looks either, but when they want to, they can take down the best of us with their machines... Shaking her head slowly she sighed a bit. But perhaps that is our fate, to always be inferior to our "masters."

Shaking her head a bit, she slowly rose to her full size, her wings slowly coming in to fold against her back. I cannot for the life of me find the proper place to sun out here. Snorting again she turned her gaze toward the nearest fence line. Though if I could get over the fence...

She was imposing at her full height, and it was a wonder how she'd been captured by the humans int he first place. Her stance was that of one that had fought a lot in her old age, but was now more than content enough to relax when she could.

Quil summed up his feelings on the human machines with a simple sneer. Cheating, is what that is. Can't defeat us on their own, so they use tools.

And I will
never call a human 'master'. This sentence was punctuated by an angry snarl. No creature weaker than I am should call themselves my master.

That's because this is a small yard, and you are... big. The Typhlosion cast an entertained eye over the large pokemon, and took in her stance and build. An old hand at battles, he thought. Probably the best fighter on the island. (Aside from himself, because he refused to consider the idea that he was weaker than another- even though he'd lost several times before.) The old urge filled him again, predictably, and thoughts of more isolation time flew from his head.

I haven't heard of anyone being able to do that. Failing that, do you want to spar? As blunt as ever, Quil finally gave in to his desire to test his mettle against this experienced fighter.
PostPosted: Sun May 03, 2009 12:58 pm

Hmmmm? Spar you said? Shianna returned her gaze back to the Typhlosion with a bit of a smug smirk on her features. That is, if dragons could smirk. The dragon type chuckled, a low rumble in her throat now as she bowed her head in agreement.

That sounds absolutely wonderful, I take it I won't have to ask you to hold back, I simply hate it when my opponents think that just because I only have one eye I'm at a disadvantage, I've fended off males twice my size before. So please, by all means give it your all.

Maybe she was goading and patronizing him a bit, but Shianna hadn't had a "good" fight in a long time, not since kicking another male out of her range. So she welcomed a bit of a match.

Flapping her wings hard, she jumped back to a decent starting distance and lowered her head into attack position, her posture telling her foe she was ready.

Whenever you'd like then, little one.

Growl-rumbling a laugh, Quil resettled his weight, lowering his own head stubbornly. Four paws on the ground was his most stable fighting stance, and he thought he might need that kind of pose, against this one. Quil was impressed to see that she didn't look like she was going to try and hold back either, given their size differences. Several had done that to him, before, when he'd been a Quilava. And paid for it. As if. I never hold back.

It was true, too. Whether against a Caterpie or a Rhydon, Quil had never even attempted to fight with anything less than his full and glorious strength. Some called it a weakness, or cruelty, but Quil called it respect. He'd had enough of softness several trainers back. He didn't think of Shianna's dare as patronizing- it never occurred to him it might be. Warning, probably. Battle banter.

Taking her invitation readily, Quil started the match with a roar laced with fire. A proper flamethrower- the best thing for starting out a match.
PostPosted: Tue May 19, 2009 8:02 pm

Hmph, you will have to do better than that, Shianna snorted and with a heavy flap of her wings glided back out of the burst of flame. Not that she was really worried about getting pegged by it. Sure it would have probably stung the dragon a little, but really, she'd rather not risk the chance that this Typhlosion actually packed some punch.

Taking to the air, she flew up a little higher to get some decent altitude, and then went into a dive.

Now this is how you use fire! Shianna opened her mouth wide as she dove and let out a large burst of blue flames from her maw. Dragon Rage was always a good opener she felt.

He didn't bother to respond to the dragon, and dove for her shadow beyond the range of her attack. Quil grunted- he hadn't managed to dodge the whole blast, and it had caught his back half before he pulled himself out of it. Shaking himself vigorously, he spared a quarter of a glance for the area and looked back up to track Shianna. It had hurt, and he was probably crisped a bit back there, but he was a creature who lived for fire. His dense fur was naturally resistant to the stuff, so the power had been halved for him.

Whatever. He still hadn't scored the first hit.

Quil grimaced. Earthquake would do no good here, damned flier that she was. Deciding, he planted himself more firmly on the ground. The fire on his shoulders burned white as he inhaled and inhaled until, opening his jaws wide, he released a Fire Blast. That was fire!
