For those who have played any harvest moon game, one good way to gain good money is to plant crops. This game is no different in that sense. In fact, it is the fastest way to earn money.
Every Spring, recommended crop is turnips. They grow in like 4 days! Plus, because there is a "Sprite Unlocker" for crops, this would be the best.
To start, since energy won't be much, plant only two donut squares worth. (16 crops)
Use your hoe to dig three little squares vertically, two squares more horizontally, two more squares vertically, and 2 more squares horizontally.

This is what one donut block looks like. *p = tilled square
So, with the turnips, plant two bags of these on the tilled land as shown with the small picture.
Then with your watering can, go to the little pond you have by the horse's house and fill it. You unlock a sprite for doing so. Yay!
Now, what you do is water your planted seeds.
