The snow had melted; and the earth had dried. It was Spring time, and it was getting warm. Istas missed the snow, but she didn't mind the warm weather. It was know to know she could run around and not have to worry about slipping. She gave a stretch as she padded forward onto the path away from the teepee. Today she wanted to get out and about. After being fairly dormant it was important to her she felt to get social again!
But where to start? She felt the usual places had grown to common for her, and she trotted her way passed the field and river that were near by. No, today she would venture to a new location to socialize. The bird were chirping, and others were out and about. She found herself slipping back into the shade of trees as her auburn eyes found another field. "This holds promise..." She thought as she drew herself closer to the tree line on the path.

The oak tree provided shelter. Though he hadn't needed any shelter in the end. The evening had been dark and to Saeran it appeared like it would rain or even possibly snow. He was relieved it hadn't rained or snowed. Rain he could deal with but snow, especially from where he was from, there tended to be lots. Then there was ice, he disliked the slipping and sliding and then the falling.
Falling was embarrassing. Saeran disliked being embarrassed. The flush on his face, the small giggles and horribly covered up laughs. He knew others who took embarrassment in stride but not him, never him. Perhaps he was a perfectionist deep down, everything had to go perfectly. But it also may of been because of becoming embarrassed in front of others, especially if they were important horses. Had to make a good impression, after all.
The stallion pulled himself up and away from the oak tree. No need to dwell his entire morning on unhappy and frustrating moments. He stretched and a yawn escaped him. He walked along, passing a river and dipping his head to take a drink. He dipped his head in further, into the cold water. Feeling more awake now as well as refreshed, Saeran continued on his way.
The sun was bright for morning, it would be very warm today. Unless the weather changed. Which was possible, anything was. He paused on the outskirts of a field. It was pleasant. Quiet. But it was fairly early in the morning still, likely not every critter that lived near by or even in this field was awake yet. There was, however, something about the field. Saeran inclined his head towards the east, where he was supposed to go next. But his attention still went to the field.
He narrowed his gray eyes, surveying the field with mild interest. It would take only mere moments of his time and it was early still. Saeran looked briefly to the east again before heading into the field. One good thing about his height was how he could peer farther. It was easier to see but it was also easier to be seen. Shaking his head, Saeran continued his walk through the field.

Istas didn't seen many out and about yet. She give her head a tilt as she went to move closer to the field. But then a stallion had strode out. A rather large stallion at that. He carried himself confidently. It wasn't like it was a bad thing, but When she would make her friendly way to talk to him, she had a feeling he may be stuck up. But then again, one shouldn't judge a book on its cover.
Looking over the few scattered others, Istas made her way onto the field. She wasn't a regular to the area so she had a slight uneasiness when it came to just approaching the others that were regulars. Istas said hello to the ones that she moved passed, and would stop to talk to the one that was most friendly in their greeting first. As she walked the bell on her handkerchief bounces off her chest and jingled with her steps. She reached Saeran...
"Oh what a lovely morning, isn't it?" She curled the corners of her mouth for a smile and turned her body to the side. She wanted to be able to pinpoint who had th best hello. Not that she herself rose with the sun, but today was just the day! Though she was slightly hoping the stallion would prove her wrong, seeing as she didn't hear much from the others.

He looked over the field. What was it that convinced him to go into it? It was a field he could of easily bypassed but the look of it, he had to see what it held. So far, nothing of interest came. There was a rustling of the grass, perhaps small animals lived in this field. Though, considering it was a field, it was likely a place for many small animals to live. Saeran could see it. Ducks, other birds, mice, rabbits. All scurrying or flying about in the field, gathering food, raising their families, playing. Possibly deer came by, too.
Saeran frowned, considering the field still. Nothing. He turned around. It was best to continue on. The large stallion slowly walked back towards the way he came, slowly because Saeran still had a thought that the field could be of interest. Or that it still seemed interesting, regardless if nothing came. The time of day was early and likely not every animal was awake yet.
The sound of a greeting caused Saeran to stop. He turned his head to the side, spotting the mare. He turned his full body towards her. So, other horses were about at this early hour. Excellent. A chance to interact with ones of this area. A learning experience for him. He hadn't encountered any horses of this place yet, so to meet others and allow them to teach him was something he wanted. Very much. And if they wanted to know more about him and where he came from, Saeran would likely teach in return.
"A good morning to you, dear young miss." He gave a small bow of his head. Mares he knew had liked to hear they were young, was this mare like the ones he knew in his past? "It is indeed a lovely morning. Though, quiet." He provided a small smile. It was odd. Saeran normally enjoyed quiet early mornings because he knew, later on in the day, he would barely have a quiet moment to himself. But, he supposed, he was lonely. No interaction with others for awhile, even if he was withdrawn, was dull.

Dear young miss It caused her to giggle. He wasn't as young as she once was, but not all that much older either. Five months away would be her one year. Though sometimes she felt much older from the wears of life. But the words Dear young miss. Caused her to judge him as being possibly older then he looked. Her ears gave a swivel and she smiled. He could be simply be one with the ways of flattery?
"Oh? But quite mornings are the best kind I find. For later when the foals rise, the air becomes filled. Nature creates its own music. It's nice to hear it... A gentle awaking to the busy day." As she walked nearer to him, she found that he was very handsome strong features. Could he possible be a herd leader? She hadn't met to many that had a build like that.
"Are you from this area by chance?" Istas had been born and raised in this land. Lailah and a few others she met, a very few had traveled from other lands. If this stallion was indeed from another land then this could prove to be even more exciting of a day for her. She loved to hear stories about other lands.

An eyebrow rose as she giggled. He was new to these parts and so it was more likely that he would say something strange, something not usually said. Perhaps courtesy and some flattery were not as common here? His comment toward her about being a 'dear, young miss' was maybe not something said, laughable even.
Saeran frowned, wondering. He felt embarrassed, he never enjoyed laughter when he didn't understand what was so funny. He preferred being on top of things, understanding and knowing why instead of not knowing and feeling left out, out of place. No. His words were fine. She seemed young, younger than him anyway and so Saeran felt his words were justified. It could be because she was a mare that he didn't understand. Mares seemed like they were very complicated.
The mare's opinion of liking quiet mornings was like his own. Saeran had thought she would of preferred busier moments more so than quiet ones. He was wrong in his judgment. "I like my mornings quiet as well." He admitted. "But, I also think it would be a nice experience to see this place active. Bustling with foals and other animals."
He watched warily as she came nearer to him. She seemed to be looking him over. Saeran didn't like to be judged by his appearance alone but he knew his appearance wasn't like most stallions. He was taller and thicker, he was looked upon as someone strong, a protector even. He wasn't as fast or elegant, and his size not always appreciated.
Was it so obvious? "You've guessed correctly. I am new to this area, coming from a place farther away." Saeran wondered if she was from this area. "You are from this area?" He asked. If she was from this area, perhaps she could let him know the key places to visit or if he needed to watch for any danger. He doubted he needed a guide but some advice or tips were always good to have.

After she had looked him over, she glanced up. She had no idea that she had caused him to feel embarrassed. She was flattered by it. She hadn't met anyone that presented a compliment like that to her, before talking. The giggle was a good giggle.
"Oh?" She was happy to hear that he liked the quiet, almost as if, he said the opposite the place would suddenly burst with activity. Her auburn eyes glanced away from him for a minute as she listened to what he said. He was from else where. She could barely contain her excitement in this, she bounced ever so slightly in her spot, and she smiled the bell on her scarf jingling with her movements..
"Me? Well... I wouldn't say from here exactly, but I'm not from as far away. I reside about a half a days walk from here." She thought about it. That was about right... Claude lived near by and because of the walk she often went and stay a day or two with her best friend, before venturing back home. "But I have ventured here enough to say I am familiar with it."
"Since you're not from here, would it be prying of me, to ask where you are from? To maybe tell me a bit about it?" Her back black colored hooves shuffled the ground a little, kicking her tail out of her way. She wasn't exactly judging him, Some things based on his size did come forward, but she was more curious about where he was from, and that would generally lead to allowing her to figure some things about him. Though she wasn't to sure if the effort was worth it, if he would just pass through.
The mare drifted into her thoughts. Maybe she was being a little to intruding having asked that question. She did jump the gun on it. But it was already out and said... She couldn't take it back, she would look like a fool doing so. It would be now best followed with intelligent conversation and good company, to make up for her sudden intrusion...

Was it something he said? With the slight bounce in her step as she tossed him another smile, Saeran wondered what he had done. He shook his head. Strange but he doubted he would figure it out. As the bell jingled, his gray were drawn to it. The bell was attached to a peculiar article. He hadn't noticed it before. Saeran frowned. Was it possible this mare interacted with two-leggers? Two-leggers were not considered highly, they were distrusted by him and the others. Once upon a time Saeran was all right with them, even allowing them to braid his mane. After meeting with the herd and being initiated, he was told never to interact with them again. Ever.
Though Saeran disagreed with what she wore around her neck, he couldn't assume she was on good terms with two-leggers. She could very well dislike them. If she did enjoy hanging around two-leggers then so be it. Even if the herd wasn't fond with them, they also told him to put up with differences if only to learn more. The first priority was always to learn. So, Saeran could put up with it, much easier then many of his comrades.
"Excellent." He gave her a small smile. It was good to know that this mare was indeed familiar with this area, albeit living a little ways from it. He had made a good choice to come into this field. If he hadn't, he never would of met her.
It was a prying question though Saeran would never say it out loud. He hadn't considered the possibility of being asked about where he came from in such a short amount of time. But he did mention he came far away so Saeran supposed the question was inevitable. He thought about what to say. Saeran knew to never disclose the exact location of where the herd was, he wasn't stupid. It was fine to let some information about the herd slip out but not everything. Better to be discreet than to shoot his mouth off. Saeran knew this. Only fools and idiots would mess it up.
He was neither fool nor idiot.
"I am from a herd. It is not so different from where we are now. There are meadows and forests, lakes and streams. But much farther than you traveled." It was a simple statement, barely providing anything. It was better this way. But was it fair? Saeran wanted to know about her world and yet he refused to give back, at least the same amount of information. Would she notice this?
"Do you require anything else...?" Saeran frowned. He had wanted to finish his sentence with her name, when he realized he didn't know it.

Istas's auburn eyes would follow his to her bell and scarf. He seemed to study it, and she wondered if he would ask about it. She kept it as a keep sake really. But he took time to think. He seemed to be very cautious. She wondered if she seemed threatening to him. She was indeed so interested in him, and did want to know more, but maybe fore asking more, she would have to give. Which she had no issue doing, what did she really care. He wasn't a kalona, or skin walker.
She would have to get over that feeling quickly, to keep his interest."No, not right now." She smiled at him, not the same as before. It was a more knowing smile. She wondered if all the stallions looked like him, with the larger build where he came from. Might be worth a visit one day to see, she though to herself with an interal small laugh. "Seeing as you're new around here, I can assume you have your own questions?"
She would be as accommodating to him as she possibly could. She wasn't hostile, or mean. She was rather friendly, and more then willing to be of assistance. But she hoped there might be an equal exchange here. It had been a while since she had a goof and intriguing conversation. And he had it, assuming he would put up with her long enough for her to get it.
The sun had started to heat up the area. Her ear gave a twitch as it was evident the animals of ht e area were starting to wake. She glanced around and then back at the new comer. She never got his name. But he seemed so serious... Her carefree attitude and his might not match so well. She was curious, and he was serious about this. It was like he was on a mission...
"I'm Istas. It's nice to meet you." She hoped things could be a little friendly with formal introductions. She lowered her head, and the bell jingled again. It was a constant reminder of her birth father.
