Early March, 109
Christian stood in the training field, reloading the ammunition of an AK-47 style assault rifle for practice on long distance targets while keeping a wary eye on SpiritPlague to make sure the wolf didn't stray far from his side this time. The man shot a few successful rounds at the wooden marks, but with some effort as his arm was still sore from the previous week. It was still early in the morning, so not many riders were out on the feild as of yet. And despite it being spring, the air was cool and damp with a hint of overcast. It would be nice, he mused as he adjusted the scope on the rifle. To go out a patrol today. What for...?Just to get out of the fort... and it would be a good experience for Azrael and Blacklight if they came along.....who? Christian paused, thinking the wolf was merely joking around, but a indifferent silver gaze proved him otherwise. "That one OCD kid with the black and white she-wolf", as you like to so politely put it.Oh... those two. Honestly, we've known them for what, seven/eight months now and you never bothered to remember their names? That's awful. At Christian's disappointed look, Spirit responded with a bored flick of the ear. The only names he ever bothered to remember were his rider's and those who were capable of gouging his eyes out... which were only the Alphas, in this case. Where are the two monochromatic pups anyway? I don't believe we were scheduled for training today, but if he does show up, a little practice won't hurt, eh?
The few times that he and Azrael had been in battle since winter, there had been very little centipedes involved. However, Christian knew from experience that within the first couple of weeks of the upcoming wet season, the creatures would be out of hibernation and sprawling everywhere. With the consideration that he had been recently permitted to bring his Apprentice to the front lines of battle, the man realized that Azrael would have twice the amount of work in his first experiences of close-range battle.
Christian returned his focus on the wooden targets in the distance. Pressing the butt of the assault rifle onto his shoulder, he carefully positioned the muzzle before pulling the trigger. The sudden pressure in his left arm caused the Private to wince only slightly before he lowered the gun from his face to inspect the damage on the target. Much to his dismay, there was a small bullet hole at the edge of the target rather than the center. "Drat," he huffed. Normally he was a better shot than that. Why do you suddenly suck so much? Came Spirit's taunting voice.Christian cast a quick side to the ragged wolf before sighing and reloading the rifle. A tad hard to keep the gun perfectly in place with a faulty arm that looks like it was just used for a chew toy. Which it had been, in some sense.Spirit merely snorted. You shouldn't screw up your arm so often.Sorry, I'll keep that in mind next time I have it shoved down your gullet.Silver eyes narrowed in annoyance. Don't be sarcastic with me, boy.I'm not. I'm being facetious~ Christian chimed. Keep being facetious and I'll tear your whole arm off next time.Christian grinned softly at the wolf's attempt at bluffing, yet he knew the threat wasn't entirely empty. Chuckling to himself as he adjusted the scope on the gun once more, he clicked his tongue and raised the rifle to the target. We'll see.

Hey...Kid...get up......Kid, come on not again! Stop sulking around, it's JUST a flower. Seriously, this is RIDICULOUS. Blacklight ruffled her fur and stomped her paws around furiously. No response from the curled up figure on the bed.
I SAID GET UP YOU SORRY EXCUSE FOR A WOLFRIDER! THE FLOWER IS NO LONGER ASYMMETRICAL YOU IDIOT I FIXED IT GRAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!
Azrael suddenly jumped and fell off his bed, frightened by his wolf's ferocity. His mind then cleared, allowing him to up off the floor and stand up. He sighed as he brushed the dust off of himself and fixed the bed. Still no response from him. He glanced over at Blacklight, who was still huffing from her burst of anger. Shrugging, he pet her gently and began to walk out the door. He motioned for his wolf to follow. Reluctantly, she followed.
S-sorry about that, Kid. You know you need to fix that problem of yours, otherwise you'll be useless in battle. I don't want you to get hurt... She paused and looked up at her partner. He wasn't listening at all, but rather he seemed lost in thought. Well then. I'll keep quiet for now. Her face showed signs of worry as the two continued to make their way to...well, wherever Kid was going.
The two found themselves wandering all around the fort, from the other barracks to near the Alpha and Beta housing to the hall and finally deep into the training field. Azrael seemed to be re-familiarizing himself with his surroundings, as if he'd forgotten where he was, although that wasn't necessarily the case since he walked as if he knew exactly where he was going. He walked around the other members of White Shadow training in the field and made his way to the shooting range. He shifted his jacket uneasily, which Blacklight took note of. He didn't mind. She'll figure out eventually. She was a smart wolf who knew almost everything about him. He smiled wryly as Blacklight commented on their location.
Oh, I see...you want to do a little training? But you left Liz and Patty back in your room. Unless.... Something caught her attention at the corner of her eye. She turned her head to see a pair of familiar faces. As soon as she opened her mouth, she felt herself running into Azrael's rear end. OW! Watch where you're...nevermind. Look, it's Christian and, ugh, SpiritPlague. You DO remember them, right? Making sure since you're not all yourself today. Her nose distinctively wrinkled as she said the other wolf's name.
"Who?" The first thing Azrael said all day save a few moans and groans. He was looking over at the older Wolfrider pair, but nothing seemed to register in his mind as if something was occupying and consuming all of his thoughts.
For the love of minced meat! Our patrons! Did you just forget the past half year? He taught you some shooting skills a while back and we even saw each other a couple nights ago! What is up with you today?
Azrael payed no attention to Blacklight and continued walking. He wanted to avoid any contact with anyone, but he knew his wolf wouldn't let him. Indeed, before he could get far enough away, she bolted over to Christian. Sighing heavily, he followed after. No point in leaving now.
