AIM LOG: Lithia_Brandon & _ p a o cx

Boring. One word would sum up the past several days in this adolescent's life. At one point he thought he might've found something interesting, though in the end it turned out to be nothing but his own imagination. That's how bored he was. With a frustrated groan the male finally stopped walking and took a seat, wanting desperately to find something that would pull him out of his boredom. "Why," he started muttering to himself. "Do I keep coming down here again? I'm fairly content with napping under the trees up at the Haven, and yet every so often I decide to come down to this realm." Tarik heaved a sigh as he tried to figure out the reason behind his constant want to visit the mortals' realm. He didn't even like the mortals! Despite having a good reason for talking to himself (at least as far as he was concerned), to the passing onlooker he kind of just looked...insane.

Zibuka was anything but bored. He always found a way to have some kind of fun, on his own or in company. Like that morning he had run into a pack of hyena, stole their scavenged food and ran around for most of the day, letting them chase him and fleeing from them only to lure them closer again. It had been thrilling, reckless, and ridiculously entertaining. How mad they had gotten!

To the sly cheetah getting mad was just a waste of time and energy. It was too easy. Why waste the effort needed to frown and growl when you could just be filling that space with fun stuff? He would much rather stay upbeat, happy, and engaged in exciting, new things. Why linger on what had happened to make you mad in the first place, when he could just motor on through to the next new experience and learn something from that? It didn’t make sense to him.

He spotted a lion up ahead that appeared to be talking to himself. Grinning, the cheetah made his way over with quick, lithe steps. “Hello, there, my young friend! Something bothering you?”

"Yes!" he answered suddenly when he heard the other's question. "I can't figure out, for the life of me, why I come down to this seemingly god forsaken place to look for something interesting to do when I could spending all this time napping under my favorite tree!" When he'd finished answering the question a bit more honestly than he would've liked Tarik raised a brow and glanced up at the one who triggered his little rant. "Right, so who are you now?" he asked, though he didn't really sound upset with the cheetah. The bit of irritation at his predicament kind of just seeped through.

Zibuka didn’t notice the lion’s use of ‘down here’, thinking he just meant he had walked from the north down to the south. He did, however, notice how vexed the other seem and it made him grin. Not that Zibuka was a bad guy, or that he took pleasure in seeing other people struggling with their anger, but because he couldn’t relate and it made him feel a bit goofy.

“I’m Zibuka,” he said with a nod and pleasant, suave smile. “And you’re adorable. Hey, listen, there’s no need to stress. Maybe you’re not at your little tree right now because you had something more important to do out here, huh? You just haven’t found it yet.”

He grinned. He was a very flirtatious cheetah, and he didn’t really care just what was on the receiving end of his flirtations. Male, female, cheetah, lion, leopard, rock. It didn’t really matter to him. He was attracted to everyone, liked everyone, and didn’t feel the need to mask it. If they didn’t appreciate it he would adjust his behavior, but only because he didn’t purposefully go out of his way to piss people off.

Adorable? At that he couldn't help but look a little confused. He'd gotten the compliment before, but from an older female.. not an older male. Figuring it was another thing with the mortals, Tarik shrugged it of. "Tarik, it's a pleasure," he returned the introduction. "And no, I don't think that's it, though I've never actually thought about that." True, maybe there was a reason he'd been coming down more often now that he was older. But what could that be? What happened with the lioness in the little cave? ....Well, now, he wouldn't mind doing that again, but could that be all? "But, assuming that there was some hidden purpose to my traveling here, what would it be?"

“Tarik! I like that name. Sounds tough when you say it. Mine is all soft syllables, even with that K in there,” he said, conversationally without actually following the natural flow of conversation. He had a knack for saying whatever was on his mind, the moment it entered. He continued to smile, eyes bright and glistening curiously.

“As for your purpose, I dunno,” he laughed, “meeting me? I’d say that was a preeeeetty good reason to come out of your way, away from your tree. Where are you from, anyway? I just wander around, if you were going to ask once you answered since that’s generally how these things work. But hey, our paths crossed so that’s gotta mean something, right?”

He grinned, flicking his long tail behind him, “you look a bit young still. I’d say you were out here to learn something important. There’s no end to the new experiences you can have, and you don’t even have to go out and look for them. Just don’t fight it. If you’re bored or angry you’re probably just not allowing the fun stuff to happen.” He nodded sagaciously.

He kept himself from scoffing at the idea that he wasn't 'allowing' anything fun to happen. He wandered probably just as much as this cheetah did, after all. They seemed to be total opposites, though, so maybe it was just that he didn't attract any interesting individuals while this one.....well, this one was among those that made things happen. "Learning new things would be a good reason to have come down, but by chance running into you.." and he chuckled. "Might just be some coincidence. Though I think I might be able to learn a bit from you too, so maybe we were supposed to meet, as you say." Tarik gave a shrug. "And for now I'm just wandering around too. I've never considered any place home, so I wouldn't really be 'from' anywhere in particular."

“Sure, it could be coincidence. I believe in that, too. I’m not much for faith and future. I live today and, as far as I can see, so do you. We’ve gotta learn from somewhere, might as well be from the people we meet randomly in our travels. Like you,” he titled head, “let’s see. You’ve got something odd about you. Not trying to insult you, just saying, your… I guess… aura is heavy, and weird. I don’t think I’ve met someone like you before.”

His sharp eyes flashed and then he grinned broadly, languidly moving closer to the younger lion and sniffing the air around him curiously. Cheetah’s weren’t particularly known for their sharp sense of smell, so he didn’t really get anything from the action. He was mostly just seeing how the lion smelled, rather than trying to discover something by it.

“I’m like that, too. I don’t have a home. I go where ever my feet take me. And so far they’ve taken me pretty far, and I’ve met some interesting folks. Oh! Earlier I was messing with some hyena. If you’re ever bored, man, you should totally check them out. They’re hilarious. Loud, and they run around on these stumpy little legs. I’ve never laughed so hard.”

Tarik listened intently to the cheetah's words, almost surprised that someone who seemed so lax could think at such a level. He was, however, older and probably knew more of the mortal world than Tarik ever would in his lifetime, so he soaked it in and only nodded on occasion. "Right, well I guess that's true," he started, then raised a brow when he said something about having a 'heavy aura'. He knew it was because he was a god, but he'd never heard it described in that way before. Probably because, most of the time, those who stayed in his company paid it no mind. Zibuka wasn't like most, though. "Ah, well I get that a lot. Maybe it's because I'm a little big for my age or something?" he lied, not sure what to pass it off as to make the other drop any suspicion.

At mention of his encounter with the hyenas, Tarik couldn't help but laugh. He'd never bothered with canines much before, but if it was as amusing as he said then maybe it was true. He didn't seem the type to lie about such an experience anyhow. "Oh?" he asked, trying to picture what one looked like chasing a cheetah around. "And how long did you have fun with those canines?"

The cheetah tilted his head, thinking about something but not sharing what it was. His smile faded only a little, and only for a moment. Soon he was shrugging and shaking his head, flicking his tail again. He couldn’t place his paw on what he was feeling, but he wasn’t going to pry if the lion didn’t want to give him some hints. If he said it was because he was big for his age, than Zibuka would believe him.

“I was playing with those things for hours. They kept getting tired out and they couldn’t keep up, of course,” he stood proudly, showcasing his sleek form, “I’m a cheetah, after all! They kept barking until their throats were raw and they just gave up. I left after that. It wasn’t fun trying to avoid them when they were just walking around. But before that it was pretty much the best thing ever.”

Of course, Zibuka was the kind of guy who found a new ‘best thing ever’ everyday. Mostly because he didn’t dwell in retrospect and never really compared his newest discovery of fun to any of the ones he had experienced before. They were all stand alone, and so it was always easy to find some thing awesome in a brand new way: it was like starting a new blank slate each time. Nothing to compare it to, no way to be disappointed.

Tarik didn't catch the sudden and very slight change in the other's expression, but was rather more concentrated on picturing the image of hyenas scampering after a creature as swift as the cheetah. It really was an amusing thought, so, in the back of his mind, Tarik thought to see for himself at some point. Though Zibuka was probably the only cheetah willing to purposely irritate any hyena to that extent. "You'll have to take me the next time you go bother those things then," he said with a grin. "I don't think I'll ever find anyone who'd risk their life for a little bit of entertainment."

“I will!” Zibuka laughed, nodding his head in promise and winking to seal the deal, “if we’re in the same area again, I’ll definitely stir up some trouble with hyenas. It might be even better a second time. Ha! I didn’t consider it risking my life, really. Those things could never hurt me, even if I was walking. Nah, it was all fun, all the time. No risk involved.”

He grinned, beaming. It wasn’t pompous or show-offy, though he did feel a bit of both as he talked about his hyena-annoying ways, but rather just happy to be talking about it. He didn’t get to share his adventures with others, and that was something he always wanted to do. If he could help someone else do something outside their norm, push their borders and explore new terrain, he would be happy. Or happier.

“I should probably let you get back to whatever it was you were doing. Ah, right, that conversation with yourself. What was up with that, anyway? Just so frustrated with being away from your tree that you had to voice it? I’d cut back on that, I think.” He chuckled.

"No risk, huh?" he asked with a raised brow, smirking slightly. This was probably the most he'd loosened up in front of a mortal, and he had to admit that it felt pretty nice. Just this once, but maybe because of his company's nature. With anyone else he might not have been able to get as lax as he was now. "Well I don't think too many would think that way, but if you say so." And he shrugged it off. His smirk disappeared when the cheetah said that he'd caught him while he'd been venting moments before they met. "Just bored," he said, a little less willing to talk now that he knew that Zibuka had seen him doing that. "I was venting my frustration, but I'm not emotionally attached to that stupid tree. It just has...more shade than the others." And with that he stood, faced the direction he'd been heading earlier, and started walking again. "Anyway, I guess I'll see you around then."

Zibuka clicked his tongue behind his teeth, watching the lion turn around approvingly. He nodded his head, grinning from ear to ear, and flicked his tail as if to prompt his own body to get to moving. Had to keep walking, and meeting new people! He wondered if he had made any sort of an impact on the young, strange lion. He hoped so, but he wasn’t going to dwell on it. If their paths crossed again, he would be able to see if anything had come of this meeting.

“Alright, I’ll see ya, handsome. Hey, and don’t worry about the talking to yourself thing. I was just teasing. Sometimes you’re your own best company, right? I talk to myself all the time,” and he wasn’t lying about that, “but I’ll see you around! We’ll chase some hyena’s real good, I’m sure.”

He laughed and turned in the other direction, prancing a bit as he moved away, humming loudly enough to be heard by his departing companion for a little distance.
