User Image It was almost that time.

Almost.

So close that Hallowfell felt giddy with excitement. Soon bucks would be competing for does and little kittens would be born to the large, healthy warren he had found himself in. Oh, how he loved to chase some tail.

This would be his first mating season with the warren and the speedy buck was eager to prove himself worthy of the does that lived within the Down. He wouldn't be happy until he mated with at least one female, and he had a particular female in mind. The white and creamy brown doe had caught his mismatched eyes some time ago and he was eager to at least introduce himself to her. That was part of the reason why he had gone through such great lengths to find a particular tasty young plant to offer her.

All there was to do, now, was to wait. He had already eaten his fill of the moist, fresh shoots that were popping up all over the warren; his siflay was done. Now he was waiting on the beautiful doe to emerge from the warren and to do a little siflaying of her own.

Zoysia loved this time of year. Last year she had been too young still, but that hadn't stopped her from trying to get the attention of the other young bucks. Her vanity ran deep, and all the attention went straight to her head. She had grown to a beautiful young doe, and she wanted to take advantage of that. She'd try motherhood out to continue the beautiful parts of her for the warren. A duty she was very serious about as a matter of fact. Nothing was more important to her, besides perhaps herself.

Emerging from her hole, she immediately began preening herself. A doe just couldn't get the job done right underground. Her coat had to shine like the sun shone or she wasn't happy with it. She hadn't noticed anything, or anyone, else before beginning her cleaning routine. She always expected them to come to her though... they always did.

((hehehe. if we don't get a slot, we may bribe a slot later in the year wink ))

Hallowfell, like so many bucks before (and after) him, fell straight for her expectations. As soon as he caught a glimps of her familiar and enchanting white and cream coat, his paws started moving on their own accord. It felt as though Frith, himself, had entered the buck and was moving his paws for him.

The fresh buds were held tightly in his maw as he approached and he didn't stop until he was quite close to her. He then carefully laid his offering of the sweet buds near her and glanced up, grinning ear to stump. Sure, he was covered in tears and bites, but his pelt was still nice and what did scars do other than give a male a tough appearance? He hoped they would work in his own favor.

"F'r you, madame. One of radient fur." He chuckled and nudged the sweet tasting offering closer towards her.

(( Sounds like a plan to me! Such pretty kittens these two would have. <3))

Glancing down at the offering, Zoysia was delighted! Not only had this beautiful buck brought her something, but it was her favourite as well! Giving him a good look over, she grinned at him her sweetest smile. "Thank you so much!" She put away her grooming for a moment to bite into the savory bits. So wonderful!

Giggling as soon as she was finished, she licked everywhere to make sure that she hadn't messed anything up. "What's your name? I don't think i've seen you around before, though don't take that personally, i often don't pay attention." It was true enough, Zoysia was known for paying more attention to herself than others. Many of the other doe's questioned why she wanted to be a mother, and her abilities to be such. She'd just have to surprise them.

The buck felt slightly giddy as he observed the beautifully pelted, healthy female devour the little prize he had sought out and picked especially for her. She liked it and that was a plus one on his score card. He offered a a smirk at her comment and was not offended at all, especially seeing as he was fairly new to the warren.

His time as a hlessi had given the tagged buck's wounds time to heal and he had arrived only a couple of seasons back. He had regained his health since then, but he was not overly large. If anything, he was slightly smaller than many others. His pelt leaned in his favor, as well as his lean body and speedy paws.

"I wou'dn't 'spect you t' know me, really." He replied in his slightly strange dialect and gave her a brisk nod. "I came 'ere on'y within the past couple 'o seasons, miss. B'where are my manners. M'name is Hallowfell. What name might one as lovely as yerself 'ave?" The flirt inquired cheerily.

What an odd accent! He was definitely not from this warren, but she adored the attention that he was giving her. Much more than any of the others were willing to put in to her. Sometimes she thought they were more busy being on about themselves and fighting with each other for does, she wondered if they (does) were really important at all, or if it was all just the process the bucks enjoyed.

"Why, i'm Zoysia." She managed to giggle. "I'm flattered with your fascination with me. Can i ask what brought it on?" She asked, a little more serious this time. After all, she was curious as to how this buck knew about her enough to be waiting for her with such lovely presents!

"And how exactly did you get that thing in your ear?" She asked, biting her lip a little. The last may have been a bit rude, but she was curious, and often spoke her mind without thinking it would have any consequences.

"Zoysia? Lovely name, miss." He tilted his head to one side and offered her the most charming smile his scarred face could manage. The fact that she seemed happy was enough to encourage him to continue trying to woo her.

"Hnn, facina'shin, eh? Oh, I 'unno. Miiiight be y'flatterin' fur or those lovely eyes." He beamed as he admired the lovely, pale furred doe. It was when she brought up his ear tag that his jovial expression faltered slightly and his full ear fell back against his skull.

"It's a... Eh. Human mark, eh?" He offered in a slightly weaker tone, but he still wore a slight smile.

No stranger to flattery, Zoysia played the roll very well, shying at his compliment, and fluttering her eyelashes when he commented on her eyes. She was quite the flirt, and yes, flattery could get you everywhere with her. When the gorgeous young buck mentioned humans, instead of being taken back by it, Zoysia's first response was somewhat unexpected.

"Oh you poor thing! What did they do to you? They didn't hurt you did they?" Most does would have shied away from rabbits with human connections, but Zoysia's only concern was for the safety of this young buck. The more she looked at him, the more she came to admire his fine coat and get past the scars that he carried.

"I mean... that is if it's okay to talk about." She asked shyly.

He winced slightly as she made to speak, expecting some sort of reprimand or scoff for he trying to court her after he had been near the Elil, but her words and her reaction were actually far different than he expected and he parted his mismatched eyes to peer over the lovely female once more.

The fact that she seemed more concerned with his well being, rather than the fact that he had been with the humans, made him even more sure that this was a female he could see himself with, if not now, at least in the future.

Ah, eh? Err, well. S'alright. We c'n talk 'bout it." He replied with a curt bob of his head. He didn't seem to mind so much around her, if only because she didn't seem to mind the fact that he had been near them and that he wore a yellow ear tag that seemed to stand out a great deal.

"Dinna 'urt much. Th' ear mark did fer a bit, b'that's all, really. Don' remember much else when I was wi'them, Miss Zoysia."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 20, 2009 11:20 am

Listening, Zoysia eased her breathing. What a strange buck! He was most certainly different however, and those eyes... they seemed to draw her in farther than she'd ever go herself.

"That's just awful... but at least you don't remember much else... at least you got away. How are you liking it here so far? Is it hard for you?" She asked, knowing that many of the rabbits around were put off by anything having to do with the humans, or rabbits not from the warren originally even. There were many cliques that had their own beliefs about outsiders, though she'd never truly fallen into any. She had been described as a butterfly once, fluttering from one group to another, never really keeping to one.

"Heh, fittin' in 'ere better than me ou'd warren, s'for sure." He gave her a wry grin and a quick wink, trying to appear as perky and easy going as ever, though the conversation had been taking a rather personal turn for some time, now. He kept going merely for the sake of getting himself over it. He had to move on if he wanted to be comfortable here. And besides, she seemed nice and had a personality that obviously matched her dazzling coat.

That and he would always drag attention wherever he went, what with having the strange, foreign object dangling from his full ear.

"Ain't been too 'ard, methinks. I do like it right good 'ere. S'a lovely warren, specially to 'ave such a wonderful doe such as y'self, ma'am. 'Ow 'bout you? Y'likin' life 'ere an' all? S'a beauty of a place!"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 20, 2009 2:41 pm

Bobbing her head up and down, she then tended to the out of place fur on one of her ears. "I do like it here, it's beautiful, well protected, and plenty of young healthy rabbits to make friends with! There isn't really anything not to like. Even the Owsla is tame enough."

It was true enough. She enjoyed being able to socialize heavily, and was glad that the warren was growing in size. With breeding season coming up it would grow substantially larger. She hoped she would be part of that, but who knew if it would happen. Diverting her attentions from such thoughts, she tried to think of something else to say. She'd stopped playing with her ear now.

"So, erm... it's a lovely day today.." she said cheerily.

"Aye, 'tis. Certaintly nice'n all. Nothin' better'n warm sun on th'fur, if I do say so m'self." He grinned and gave her a quick nod, then turned his mismatched eyes to the clear, afternoon sky.

It certainly was nice out and for that, he was thankful. It seemed that the winter days had not been long ago and he wasn't one much for cooler, chilly weather. He did note something in the distance, though, and a faint trace of fresh rain on the wind. The sunny skies wouldn't last for but another day or so, before rains came to them.

He ran his paws over his maw, then his full ear, and groomed as carefully as he could around the bright yellow tag. He moved on to his half torn ear next and settled once he was sure they were groomed thoroughly enough. fortunately the pain he had once felt had long since passed and they both had healed properly.

"Wot say we play a game, eh miss?"
PostPosted: Wed May 06, 2009 11:17 am

Zoysia was intrigued. She didn't know many games at all, and the thought of playing one with this wonderful buck was appealing enough to grasp her attentions. "Why certainly. What did you have in mind?" Her reasons for not knowing many games were that she tended to pay more attention to grooming than playing around the warren. Because of it she had a reputation for being a bit attached to herself, but also for having one of the shiniest coats a doe could have.

"How 'bout a... Chasin' game, eh, miss? Ne'er 'urts fer a good ol' run! Fun an' keeps ye' in shape iffin' y'run int' an elil." He spoke lightly, but one would be sure of the truth behind his words. It was always good to stay in condition, lest one of the thousand decide to give chase.

He sat back on his haunches and groomed his full ear quickly as he watched her with admiration and intrigue. She certainly was a lovely thing and he couldn't help but to dwell on thoughts of her. She'd surely produce lovely kittens. Between the two of them, he was positive they would be healthy.
