Rap knew his plans, knew them and kept them all to himself, huddling them close to his heart. Without his plans he would be lost, not knowing where to go next, not knowing what path to tread. Yes, the day that Rowtag - the son of Kenna - had talked him into believing the Simo had killed his mother, he'd felt something come alive inside him.

The need for vengeance.

He didn't show it often, but in him harboured a terrible anger, an anger that would occassionally explode and would do so again in the future. And yet, though he despised that red, foul-mouthed youngster, he knew all his hopes for vengeance were to lie within him.

And so he would wait at the borders of the Simo, alone, waiting for the sign that things were ready, that they could do what needed to be done to see that they regretted killing his mother.

Rap was a fiery and emotional sort. And whilst he easily showed his anger, he also showed his other emotions easily too. Love, sadness, joy. He was an emotional sort, not the type of male to be ashamed of tears or hugging a friend. And along with the vengeance came something else. He needed to know whether his brother was still alive. His golden brother. He hadn't udnerstood, then, why the golden one had been treated so differently. It had only become apparent when he'd emerged from the den and saw that everyone was black, red and white. No gold. No one that looked like Uddhava. And, knowing that somehow the gold one's appearance was terribly wrong, he'd never told anyone - not even Rowtag - about his appearance.

Today, however, he was fed up with waiting and training all alone. So, he was dithering, moving outwards, away from the borders and into the wildness of the desert. He knew beyond the sea of gold there lay other lands. He'd get to see them one day, but not yet. No. He had his job to do here. Once it was done, he could move on. Leave this all behind him.

He crested the rise of a dune and looked across at the expanse all around him.

He felt alone.

It had been done. The sands would cover it up and over time the place would be unnoticeable, but Kalama knew that is what her mother would have wanted. The desert was as much a part of her mother as the air and food was. And to think that the wretched lioness was playing with her mother's bones! The idea was so outlandish that the very thought made her snarl angrily with her tail whipping behind her.

Welts and cuts littered her dark body, standing out boldly. She was proud of every cut she bore, a tribute to her strength. Her fire. Even though some of them pained her against the wind and sand, she showed no emotion. As she let her paws do the walking, she would leave this place. She couldn't stand the Simo, nothing was good about them.

Her green eyes scanned the golden dunes, nothing out of the ordinary...until she spotted a figure not too far off. It didn't take her a second glance to realize it was her brother.

He spotted her - perhaps a second later than she did - and turned towards her fully. She was dark, dark as night, the flare of her tail piercingly vibrant. It was a trait they all shared. Kalama, Ripuka and he: the flame that tipped the end of their tails.

He waved his own fiery tail and, slowly, moved towards his sister, head parrallel with his shoulders.

When he drew close enough that the desert wind wouldn't snatch his voice away, he lifted his muzzle and called out to her. "Kalama! I thought you were gone already. You decided not to go with Father and the others?"

At the display of the other fiery tail, Kalama felt the corners of her mouth curl up slightly. That's what made her brother and her so much like their mom. No one else had the fiery tail but them and she was proud of it!

As Rap came closer, it wasn't until then that she realized just how much they have grown. It seems like forever since she last saw him or any of her siblings.

She shook her head, "No, I did not want to join Father and the others. I had some unfinished business here, so I didn't get to leave as soon as I had wanted, Rap." Her green eyes looked to him, "What are you going to do?"

They had grown, but Rap hadn't really noticed, he didn't even notice now as he looked into his sister's face. If he'd stopped to think, he would have noticed how much her face had changed, become older, more lady-like. But he didn't. His thoughts were currently in the past, thinking of that day they had heard the terrible news.

He drew in a sharp breath. "Unfinished business? Is it finished now, since you're heading away?" He wished he could go with her, but he knew he could not. Maybe he'd be able to find her later. Yes, he liked the sound of that.

"Me? I'm staying here." He wasn't sure whether he should tell her what he was planning to do, uncertain of what she would think of him. "There's someone I'm waiting for."

With a nod, her face was dark as she replied, "Unfortunately. At least now it's all settled and I can rest easy." Kalama was, in all honesty, quite pleased with herself afterall.

Surprise was written all over her face, but she wasn't sure why. Perhaps she had thought that all of her family members would have left. "I don't like it here, the Simo think they are so much better than we are." There was a slight edge in her tone, she didn't approve of the other pride either.

He nodded, curious, but didn't question it. It didn't feel right to ask her what she had been up to when he didn't plan to let her in on any of his secrets. He'd tell her someday, maybe when it was all done, but not now.

"Don't worry, Sis, they'll realise the truth of things someday. When they least suspect it, they'll get payback for everything they've done." He paused. "Some of the Safi that went to stay with them. I don't think they'll be able to convert. They'll make their move someday, I can feel it."

Because he knew it. It was planned.

He reached out, intending to touch his nose against her forehead - if she did not move away. "Do you know where you are going to go?"
