Curled up in sleeping position as she was, Silarial looked like a huge boulder nestled amongst the other boulders; unless you looked carefully and noticed this particular boulder was breathing. She had woken up briefly to bid Khalidia and Alucard goodnight as they headed out, then hunkered down near this exit and gone back to dreamland.
The fern-tailed mare had felt really sleepy lately, not even bothering to wander very far from her cave as she used to. Also, if the reflections in the water were right... she seemed to be gaining weight again. Ah well. All Kirin got dumpier as they aged, right? She had been a young adult when she met Alucard and Khalidia, and now that they were nearly grown, well, time had probably caught up with her.
Legs twitching slightly in her slumber, Silarial was dreaming of her monarch-winged beau, and running beside him through the sunlit trees; just as they had done one fine morning not too long ago.

 Natsuhi walked along through the familiar forest, her own glow lighting the way through the darkness. For whatever reason, the navy mare had felt an urge to visit an old acquaintance of hers. Odd really, considering the fact that she had never really felt the need to be around any other Kirin than Brajan. He had been rather protective of her lately, which she appreciated- even if she didn't completely understand. All she surmised is that it had something to do with her odd behavior and growing belly.
She smiled to herself as she found the cave where her friend resided. Hopefully it wasn't too late for a visit. "Silarial? Are you there?" Natsuhi called out softly as she entered the cave, not wishing to disturb the rocky mare if she was asleep.

"Mm?" Silarial shifted on the spot, leaving her dream reluctantly. She raised her head and squinted in Natsuhi's direction, finding the lovely blue mare's gentle glow rather piercing in the after-slumber dark. So, her wandering friend had returned for a surprise visit! This was wonderful.
"Hello, love," she said with a sleepy smile, hauling herself on her feet with effort. "I'm right here. To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?"

"Ah, I'm sorry, did I wake you?" she asked, walking over to the stony mare's side. "No real reason in particular, I just felt like coming to visit. I hope you don't mind." Even though she had only met her before briefly, Natsuhi enjoyed the other mare's company. She was very calm and kind, as well as easy to talk to. Plus, on a side note, she was the only other Kirin she had ever come across with glowing eyes. Although it looked as if that wasn't the only thing they had in common now.
"Ah, you're growing too?" she asked in mild surprise, noting that their bellies looked rather similar. "How odd. Do you know what this is?"

Silarial shook her head gently at Natsu's apology, then frowned. Something was up. She looked at the other mare's belly, then at her own, and back at Natsu's belly again... and it clicked. All those years of observing herds from a distance... how could she have forgotten about rutting seasons!
"Natsu... this is, ah, a rather personal question, but if you don't mind giving me an answer...
Have you had a lover's tryst with a stallion lately?"

Natsuhi cocked her head slightly at Silarial's question, wondering where that had come from. Was this perhaps related to why Brajan was bing so caring of her? "You could say that," she replied with a sheepish smile, glancing down at her own belly. "Is this related to that somehow?" Which, if that was the case, then it looked as if the stone mare had found herself a stallion as well. I sure hope she has. She deserves a loving companion.

Silarial trotted over and dipped her head to inspect Natsu's belly.
"Same here. I think it means we're expecting." Her words were fairly understated compared to what she was actually feeling. Given her condition, Sil never expected to have foals of her own... and out of loneliness had taken two strays under her care.
She had to seek Cadeyrn out and tell him, tomorrow.
"Well, I suppose my foals will have playmates, then! We seem to be about as far along as each other. If their fathers won't mind, that is." She raised a quizzical eyebrow as she looked back at Natsu again. "Would yours be the type to mind?"

"Foals?" Natsuhi replied in wonder pondering over this for a moment. She was going to be a mother. Well, this certainly was unexpected. She shook herself out of her daze when she realized that the other mare had asked her a question. "Ah, no, I don't think he would mind at all," she said with a soft smile. Foals... The idea made her feel a bit warm inside. "This certainly is a happy coincidence, isn't it," she remarked with a chuckle. "What are the odds?" Of course, Natsuhi had no idea about the ruts and that it actually might be fairly common for many mares to be pregnant at the same time.

"From what I've seen of herds? Pretty high. Not quite sure how it happens, but it seems all the mares in a herd tend to get pregnant at once.
You know what? I'm really thirsty... could do with a drink right now. Care to join me?" Asked Silarial. "We've got a lot of catching up to do. Starting with where you've been and who you've met," she teased, pretty obviously referring to the father of Natsuhi's babies.

It was rather interesting to find out that most mares seemed to get pregnant around the same time. That must mean that there was always an accompanying explosion of foals then. "Ah, yes, but same you," Natsuhi replied with a small smirk, joining in the playful teasing. "And I would gladly join you for a drink. It's a nice night out."

They reached the stream without too much chatter - a dry mouth does not form words easily. Silarial dipped her head into the cold water to wake herself up properly, shook the moisture off, and then drank. Was cold water good or bad for eggs? She wished she knew better.
"So... what's he like?" She asked, figuring Natsuhiboshi could tell who she was talking about.

Natsuhi chuckled a little to herself, choosing to first take a drink of water herself before answering. "Well," she started, lifting her head back up a little, "when I first met him he seemed quite the independent stud. We got to talking, then one thing lead to another and we-" she cut herself off, clearing her throat awkwardly. Somehow she felt that part could be skipped. "Anyway, since then we've sort of stuck together. He's been awfully sweet and protective of me, and now I guess I understand a bit more as to why."
She smiled and looked back over at her friend. "What about you? What's he like?" Perhaps some day she would have the privilege of meeting the stallion who sired Silarial's kids.

"Seems like you found quite the catch," mused Silarial, admiring the devotion Natushi's mate showed.
"Hm. Cadeyrn I met on a fairly eventful day under curious circumstances. He... took a liking to me, and I to him." Her brow creased slightly as she thought about it. "Somehow I don't think our relationships goes very far beyond physical attraction... not that it matters, since I've always wanted foals of my own. He also seems to be the easily distracted type.
Well! I guess I'll have to look after my children myself, then," Silarial tossed her head and declared with cheerful resolution.
"Say, if your stally is so very protective of you... Did you tell him where you were going before coming here? Otherwise I think he would be worried..."

"Couldn't Alucard and Khalidia help you with your children?" Natsuhi asked thoughtfully. Granted, the two were nocturnal, but it was still better than nothing. She smiled faintly when Silarial brought up Brajan. "Mm, yes, I told him," she said with a light chuckle. "He let me come without a fight, but I think he's still a bit worried regardless. I don't really plan to stay away from him for too long, so it should be alright."

Silarial dipped her head for another draught of cool water before continuing.
"Alu... I would rather not have him babysit," she said, quietly. "He's a lovely stally, really, but... I feel putting my foals in front of him is like building up a large stash of nuts and telling a normally honest squirrel where they are, and not to touch them. He is what he is and it's not nice to tempt him so.
I suggest you do the same for your foals."
The gentle mare sounded unusually grim. She had nothing against Alucard, but thought it unwise to play with fire. Speaking of fire...
"Walk with me, I want to watch the sunrise."
As she said this, she turned and headed towards the uphill path that led to the waterfall's crest.
