Lucian and Rion - Skie

Arius really did enjoy being 'out on the town'. Today he actually had a little cash, now that he had a job as a waiter in one of the tiny downtown food joints. The lady there loved him, with good reason, and he behaved like a complete gentleman as long as he was on the clock, but once off, he went off to go do whatever the hell he desired to. Right now, he had grabbed a bite to eat, just a snack from a local cafe that he favored, and was parked on a bench with it, feet propped up on the wood, hogging the entire thing for the satisfaction of his own comfort. Ah, it was so nice to be off his feet, and with a work schedule that was...vague at best, Far didn't expect him home. It was complete freedom...at least in his book.

The twins had slipped away from their guardian, taking the opportunity to explore the area a tad. Really... nothing had happened since the murder, not that they could see, anyway, and their father obviously thought it was safe to go out again. They'd received quite the lecture after escaping last time... but this time, though, they'd kinda sorta hinted at leaving for a moment.

When they spotted Arius, they wandered over having recognized a fellow scent person. "You're.... interesting!" Lucian declared loudly as he leaned on the armrest opposite Arius' head, "You smell a lot!"

Rion, who'd hung back just to see how the other might react, waited for Lucian to walk around to the back of the chair and out of sight (they weren't quite tall enough to be easily seen over the top of the backrest) before walking up from the opposite direction to poke Arius' shoulder.

"But not bad a lot. Like me." He grinned.

Arius blinked at that, red eyes staring at Rion for a moment. Were there...two of them? He could have sworn...but a moment of inattention made it almost impossible to tell. "Interesting, huh?" Carefully shifting to sit properly, setting food aside, he smirked faintly, "Well I'm a teen scent, you see...I smell a little more than you do. Name's Arius. So what's yours?" Glancing around for a moment, he wrinkled his nose, figuring better to ask than to be counted stupid. "There are two of you, aren't there?"

Rion shook his head, "No. Just one. You're seeing things." Smiling angelically, the young scent beamed up at Arius, "A lot more, actually. What did you come from?"

In behind the chair, crouched low so as to avoid being spotted, Lucian grinned. This was a favourite game of theirs - and people usually fell for it. Smiles and innocent questions generally did the trick.

"Uh-huh..." He was still skeptical, after all, his best friend was Anbu, and she and he had been partners in crime back in the day. But for now, he would let them...he...whichever it was, have their fun. "My scent is called Mad Love, or so my Ada tells me...I surprised him quite soundly, I must say." Arching a brow at the younger scent, "So what's your name...?" Noting that the other hadn't given it to him.

"Oooh." Rion tilted his head, obviously curious, "Are you crazy then? Insane?" He grinned, imaginging the other laughing wildly and throwing roses all over the place - the mad lover. Chuckling he shrugged, "I'm Rion. From Fallen~" Puffing out his chest, proudly, he crossed his arms.

Awww darnit! This wasn't fair! Rion got to talk to the crazy lover while he pretended he didn't exist! Popping up, he hooked his feet in the small space between backrest and bench itself and leaned over the top of the chair, "You suck Rion. You always get the good ones. I'm Lucian." No need to say the scent he came from - it was obvious they were twins.

Ah, so he wasn't going crazy. Grinning in a friendly fashion, he leaned back, watching the both of them. "I'm not crazy...it's not mad in that sense more like...mad, or delirious, intensely excited...and occasionally harebrained." He laughed softly, "And so there are two of you...pleased to meet you, Lucian, Rion. Fallen twins then?" Teasing, he brushed red and black hair from his own eyes. "So what are you doing out on this fiiiine day, hmm?"

"Not crazy or angry?" Lucian seemed disappointed and frowned deeply, "I take that back. Not interesting at all. Passion isn't as... driving as madness." Harumphing, he dropped to the ground and came around to stand beside his twin.

Rion, however, thought it comical and laughed, "Deceptive~ Yes. We're twins.... you can't tell?" Blinking, the scent looked at his brother and they shared a look of 'this guy is insane!

Lucian shrugged, "Just looking around. It was boring so we went for a walk. And you were hogging the chair." Perfectly good explanation, that.

He snickered faintly, "Well...love can make you crazy." His eyes gleamed faintly for a moment, "I have a power that can put people under my spell." Arius snapped his fingers, smirking at the both of them. It was a handy little power, actually, and he'd discovered his possession of it quite by accident.

"Of course you're twins. And I'll share the chair, if you ask nicely." Or probably if they just sat down, that too. "And I understand the boring part, it's why I'm not at home. I get to watch my parents play kissy-face if I stay at home." Or he got to babysit, but he wasn't going to mention that to these guys.

"Reaaaaalllly?" They exchanged glances and smiled. This one could be useful... he'd make a good friend, "That's really interesting~" Lucian seemed rather interested again, "Can you do anything else?"

"Please." They spoke immediately, and while it wasn't exactly enthusiastic, it was a request. Without waiting, they clambered up onto the bench to sit beside him.

Rion wrinkled his nose and nodded, "Same thing." Even the night they'd been born... their parents had been doing signficantly more then just kissy-face.

Lucian also nodded, "Yeah... Watch that or help with chores. Or, before, get bathed three times a day because we 'smelled'." He sighed, "But that was before he figured out we're supposed to be like this."

"Well, other than that, I was a bit of a trickster back when I was your age, much like you guys are now, I see." Again with that soft, playful note in his voice. Scooting over to allow the two of them more room, he eyes the street in front of them, wanting to show off, but knowing well just how dangerous that could be.

"Yes, I still have to do chores too." He admitted, "And I have...well a sort of little brother, he's a Scent too, but he isn't quite like you guys, he's...peculiar. I like him just fine, but he's something of an oddball." Chuckling at their description of their guardian's diligent cleaning, he shook his head in amazement. "He didn't think that because you came from a scent you just MIGHT smell different?"

They smiled up at him as they kicked their legs, looking for all the world as little angels, "No.. not tricksters. Not really."

Rion blinked, "A little brother? What's his name?" They, despite their ways, liked meeting other scents. Well, usually anyway.

"Why's he and oddball?" Lucian chimed in, also curious. He laughed then, giving a little shrug, "Well... he didn't know we were Scents. He was... busy with his partner that night..... thought we were runaways." They both giggled at that, amused by that introduction and how it never failed to embarass their guardian.

Just shaking his head, he reached out with one finger and waggled it at the nearest one. "I'm a professional at that look you've got going, I will not be fooled until you guys have proven yourselves blameless." However, his look was still somewhat conspiratorial. He liked these kids, they reminded him a bit of himself at their age...well...with slightly more girls added.

"Well, his name is Rhiloss, and he's...well, he's moody. Sometimes he won't be so bad and sometimes he'll just disagree with everything everyone says." For no good reason, he might add. "Oooooh." His eyes lit up faintly with merriment, "Busy, was he? Goodness, well I suppose that's one of the better reasons for inattentiveness, hmm?"

"Rhiloss!?" They spoke, or rather shouted in unison, and growled. Both of their expression darkened at the mention of the boy who had gotten them in trouble. Stupid Rhiloss.

"You have him as a little brother? That really really sucks. I don't like him. He kicked me." Lucian murmured.

"Then he got us in trouble! But he started it! And he never said no." Rion finished. It was quite obvious the icy scent had made enemies of the pair.

Oh great, so they'd met. Well wasn't that just peachy. Sighing in exasperation, he ran a hand through his bangs, before they fell right back into place. "See what I mean? He acts that way and for no good reason either. Maybe he'll be better when he gets older." It was hopeful, but hoping was all he had, that the kid would even out a bit as he grew up. Become tolerable. Maybe. Big maybe.

"And I believe it. He does dumb things all the time, which is why I have to look out for him a lot." He rolled his eyes heavenward, "I really feel sorry that my Ada's partner got saddled with him. Though I daresay I was a lot of trouble at my age too." That wicked gleam flitted through his eyes for just a moment. "What sort of trouble did he get you into?"

"He started a fight." Rion replied, "So I punched him. And Lucian threw him to the ground."

"But he wanted to be paid back for something else stupid he'd done.... we were just trying to cheer him up. He took the vial without checking and tried to give it to his guardian. That didn't go well so he blamed us." With someone to listen to their side of the story, it seemed they were quite vocal, "He didn't believe us when we told him someone died at the festival so we showed him then tried to cheer him up."

"But we paid him back.... with a necklace father made. Which apparently wasn't useless... and had to apologize. It wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been stupid." Rion finished, frowning. "He's really dumb, why watch out for him. He hurt my brother."

Arius was, however, a little confused by their sudden outburst. Goodness it seemed like they sincerely felt wronged by Rhiloss, and the older Scent thought that, knowing the icy little boy, they were probably quite right. "Ah...what vial is this?" Since he had nothing better to do, it seemed that he could listen to their story, and perhaps take it up with Ka'hmesh later.

"I see...and yes, he tends to do a lot of stupid things, but he's my brother...like family. It just wouldn't be right to abandon him, and it would truly hurt my Ada." As much as they tended to disagree on things, he didn't want to hurt Farlest. The other had looked out for him, put up with his antics, and raised him best he knew how. "It wasn't right that he hurt you, Lucian, but just because he does stupid things doesn't mean that I want to let him run off and get into even bigger trouble."

"It was just a vial... a sample from the Rain Festival that we'd gotten. He grabbed it at random." Lucian replied, lips pursed, "We didn't try to sabotage anything, honestly."

"Mn... makes sense." Rion spoke thoughtfully, glancing at his brother, "I would never just leave Lucian. He'd never get along without me."

"Says you!" Lucian immediately countered, commencing a short, good-natured scuffle between the two.

Nodding, just accepting their words for the truth, he frowned thoughtfully, "I believe you...and Rhiloss is an odd little bugger." Ah, that kid, if he didn't grow up soon he was going to start becoming a real pain in the a**.

Laughing inwardly at the antics of the twins, he reached over and ruffled the hair of the nearest playfully, "Well you were born together, you do most everything together, right? You'd certainly miss each other if you were apart. Twins certainly have something special." It was a shame...before Rhiloss had come along, Arius had always wanted a brother. Perhaps he should have specified what sort of brother...

Rion shot Arius a dark, cold look when his hair was mussed. He despised it being touched... even when Lucian messed it up. "Hey! Don't do that!"

"Mmhmm. Yep~ Special. That's us." Lucian grinned, puffing up from the supposed compliment. "

"Lucian? Rion?" Cyr's voice carried clearly in the still air as he called for the twins, "Enough is enough! You've been away a while. Come back, I've got lunch." He'd obviously spotted them, for his voice grew louder as he approached, eyeing Arius for a moment as the twins slid off the bench.

"He's not a killer, father. Don't look at him like that." Rion admonished.

"If you say so." He chuckled, expression softening, "Made a friend?"

"Mmhmm. Arius. His guardian's husband's scent is Rhiloss." Lucian replied, "But he's not as useless and awful as Rhiloss."

"Oooh, really now." Cyr shook his head, bowing slightly, "Well, give my regards to Farlest then, Arius. It's been a while since we've spoken. Excuse me but I've got to take these two hellions now, before they bring down the park." Winking, the Shifter turned to go - twins in tow.

Arius shot Rion an apologetic look. "I'm sorry. Won't do it again then." And he seemed genuinely sorry. Didn't mean to offend the kid, some people weren't quite as touchy-feely as Arius tended to be.

When they're guardian approached, the teenage scent recalled him from the Christmas event, though he'd really had eyes almost solely for Vanyel that evening...much to his later chagrin. "It's all right, they were quite nice. I will tell Farlest you said hello. Bye Rion, Lucian!" Gathering up his abandoned snack, he waved at them, before moving to stand. Yeah...it was about time he headed home too.
