It was another simple day. Boring, and unpleasant for Thona as usual. It made him in a more foul mood then ever this day. He wanted something to do, something to beat up, perhaps even kill. The pride was still too small to rally do anything about the rival pride he had found. He needed more members. To become strong in numbers, and power. If that made any type of sense.

It was the evening. The sun lingering in the afternoon light. Making everything seem a bit more golden then it really was. Most would marvel at it's beauty, though just snorted and moved on. He hated anything that seemed too girly. Only women would look at the sky for ours on end. He lashed his tail making the bones on it rattle together. The ones on his chest and front feet just clinked every few steps. His feathers on his head band swayed in the wind, along with the long string that hung down. which could be annoying if the wind was going the other way.

His green peridot eyes seemed to be flamed with anger, and lust for hurting someone. Every aspect of him looked nothing nice. His body was built of just muscle, which almost makes him look fat, yet not at the same time.

Nia crouched low against the ground as she trudged forward on silent paws. Her ears swiveled and she sniffed every second to make sure that nothing was too near. She had been traveling so much lately and barely knew her bearings anymore. And the last thing she wanted to do was to enrage some territory possessed feline.

Pausing the leopardess looked to the lingering rays of sunlight and grimaced. Why couldn't it be night already? That way even if something was near her, at least her pelt would lower the risk of being spotted by blending in with the darkness. Nia's gaze narrowed in annoyance at the thoughts. Fighting didn't scare her in the least bit, but that didn't mean that she wanted it.

Another thing that was bothering Nia was the sounds behind her. She had heard a familiar presence behind her in the rustling of the grass, and she knew better than to blame the wind. 'Why doesn't he just show himself already?' She thought flicking her tail in irritation at her stalker.

The dryness of the air irritated him. Everything about his current situation placed Abrafo in a jumbled state of mind. He thought that by leaving his old pride, he was enlightening himself to more power and a sense of freedom.

Well, quite frankly, freedom sucked a**.

His bi-colored eyes were placed down the ground as his bulky body skulked after Nia. The leopardess was his only connection to anything corporal so he domineered over her. She was his property until he found it necessary to release her and didn't plan to let her out of his sight for a moment.

The truth of the matter was, he was bored and he needed something to do with his time. All of his childhood was wasted on training if he couldn't kill something in honor of a leader. Abrafo had been called a 'toy' more than once in his old pride and no matter how many times he beat the s**t out of the little pricks, they kept saying it. Well, if that got him back into work, that why not be a toy?

His large, over bearing body emerged from the sunsetting atmosphere to Nia's side, instantly placing one paw infront of her. " Don't. move. " He'd known for a while that he was in someone else's territory and by the scent in the air, that person was close.

The land here was grassy in some places, but mostly where his pride was settled mainly. The lands of his pride were big, but only in case his pride had tons of creatures in it. Here, where he was heading, the land was dirt, dry, and unpleasant. Which was good to Thona's eyes. Where his pride rested there was a small river, almost stream that least out to the ocean several miles away, but here, it made it like nothing would live and was just bad. It kept most creatures away from his pride.

Though a sent lingered in the air, nothing that was familiar with Thona. A snarl came out of his mouth as his head lowered, ears back and he moved much like a horse cantering. His tail wasn't lashing anymore, no he wanted to know why others were trust passing his lands. They would pay if they meant harm. Thona might not be as strong as a huge lion, but he had many skilled years of fighting, and killing creature's bigger then himself.

It took no time at all before he spotted two back figures. Though one had more colors then the other, they both were still black. He could tell right away that one was a lion, only because of the ridiculous purple fluff around his black face. The other, he couldn't tell, for it wasn't sitting up. Perhaps a lioness to go with this male? Or a cub? Looked too big to be a cub though.

Hissing Nia glared at Abra. "Why shouldn't I?" She breathed softly her golden eyes burning against the force of his actions before she finally forced her breathing to calm. Her tail lashed her annoyance at Abra's sudden appearance, but it was more from the fact that he hadn't shown himself until someone else was nearby.

'Someone whose possibly quite dangerous.'
She mused silently her eyes gazing about their surroundings. Though truthfully she should be thankful to Abra for pointing out the danger. Nia could already smell another's scent and she figured it probably wasn't some rogue traveling through like the two of them were.

Abrafo was by no means a little lion. He was massive, as far as beings go. Large bone structure and a well fed childhood helped him to grow like the titan he surely was. His large paws pressed indentions into the harsh soil where he stood, scanning around, ears swivelling and tail thrashing.

Silently, he motioned to Nia to stay quiet, seeing as he had more pridal experience and he prayed that she'd let him do all the talking. He'd kissed a** so many times that he could get out of any situation. Though, usually, when someone saw him they tended to run first and ask questions later. Not this time, though.

Someone was stalking him and he didn't like it at all. It made him feel vulnerable and weak; two things he would not stand.

" I know your out there, leopard, so make yourself known. "

Thona wasn't at all one to hide, in fact, if they knew what to look for, they'd know he was in plain sight. He snickered at them as the lion called out. "Now why would I hide from the likes of you" Thona said as he got closer to the two. "You must be blind to not see me." Thona said in a dull voice. His head dress made him look important, some type of king, which he was. But if he wasn't, it'd be something he'd wear anyways. He also had bone's and peridot gems on his necklace, bracelets and tail decorations. Dark feathers stuck up from his ear where his head dress was attached with a string. He flexed his muscles every now and then to show that he wasn't afraid to attack them if need be.

"No use hiding, my puppet." He spoke to the leopardess. So he was right, it was a leopard, but not a male. Which was all fine with him for now. "What might I ask are you doing on my land" He said, trying to keep this conversation anything but fighting. At least for the moment. He wanted more pride members. He had to be a little nice at first unless they show any reason for him to be mean. Of course he didn't like to be like this, but it was all part of an act. Thona was a good actor when need be. He loved messing with others. He did it a lot, which got him a few sets of kids.

From his eyes, anyone could tell he would be just as happy to rip the two apart then sit here and talk, but he controlled himself. With anyone who seemed good for his pride. Even if the female wasn't, but he could use her later at least. He lashed his tail and turned his attention to the male. A inch or two bigger then himself, but that really wasn't any problem with Thona. He wasn't intimidated by size.

"Obviously very blind." Muttered Nia softly to herself before looking over at the leopard with a narrowed gaze. Surely he hadn't just said, 'my puppet'? Feeling a bit annoyed, Nia pushed against the ground and rose to a full standing position. But she didn't move forward except to reposition herself around Abrafo. Her tail lashed proudly behind her before curling across her paws as she sat tall beside of her companion.

Nia nearly growled a retort before swallowing. 'I don't want to fight.' She would try to be civil and calm, but if he....wait...His land? Actually as she looked at the other leopard a sort of royal feeling did come from him. But maybe that was just from his decor? 'Unlikely.' Her gaze moved to Abrafo as she was curious in his response.

Abrafo knew what a crown looked like. Despite their delicate appearances, their weight was enormous and no ordinary male could carry one. Taking one paw to the front, he bowed respectfully, exactly like he had done for Moses all those moons ago. He kept his head low, tilting his head to the side to expose the tender jugular behind his mane. Abrafo wasn't afraid of the leopard; not in the least, but a show of humility would get him far and hopefully set a good example for his rogue friend.

Slowly, he rose, the rubies on his earrings tingling against the twisted clay that rested against his ear. "I apologize for our rudeness, your majesty. " His voice, though booming and commanding, carried with it a sensuality he reserved for special occassions. The male before him was a powerful leader, that much was obvious, and at the moment Abrafo couldn't withstand any more physical attacks. His leg still smarted from the hyena ambush a few moons back. "My companion is a rogue and I myself am an outcast from the Mwana pride. We have been travelling long and are in need of rest. If you would be so merciful as to spare this for us, I will do what I can to repay your generosity."

Being addressed as Majesty had a nice ring to it, yet sounded so strange as well. The male seemed almost too noble. Thona raised a brow at him. Most didn't even notice a king if it smacked them in the face. Much like this female here. He could tell the male had been in a pride without him having to say something. At least he knew how to work with others. He lashed his tail looking to each one of them.

"For shelter, it doesn't come free." He started. "I'd expect you both are able to catch pray?" Of course it was the hunter's job, but he wanted to see if they'd actually do stuff in presence in the pride. Unless they plan to stay, they'll have to be stuck doing dirty work. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to get new hunters in the pride.

Nia awkwardly lowered her body a fraction before nodding her head slowly. So he really is a king, interesting. Still her golden eyes flashed with worry as she secretly gazed at Abra from the side. What would this king expect them to do? The fur along her back rose slightly as she shivered. How would they be treated here?

But then words burst from her mouth without hesitation. "O-Of course we can catch prey!" Nia had looked up at Thona with a start. Catch prey? Her tail relaxed and curled back around her body with ease. After a second thought Nia nearly flushed with some embarrassment at her outburst. Lowering her gaze, Nia quickly talked on with a respectful tone. "I mean...yes, your majesty. I am an experienced hunter and my friend is skillful as well."

If it hadn't been such an offhanded question, Abrafo may have been insulted. Of course he could catch prey; what fool couldn't?

His calm exterior was broken as shock bugged his eyes out. He cast a sidelong glance at Nia with one ear tilting down, torn between complete outrage at her addressing royalty like that and amusement. She really was a precious soul, in her own little way. He smiled a fraction of an inch and return to the leopard male.

"I stand by what my companion speaks. You'll find that we can handle ourselves in any situation you throw at us." The violet bulb of fur attached to his tail flickered across the ground, hovering for the slightest second before switching to his abandoned side. In spite of the tension in the air, the formality was broken for Abrafo and he felt much more at ease with this moment than he had been.

"Of course, permitting that his majesty would taste the meal captured for him by two strays."

Thona eyed the female. If she was in his pride, he'd have taught her well not to speak to him that way. Though, he was sure if he tried, this male next to her would stop him. They seemed like they might be a couple of some sort, or at least in Thona's eyes. Such a pity too, Thona could see himself snagging a bit of the leopardess if she wasn't taken. Though, even if she was, that wouldn't stop him either. With the male there though, that was another story. No matter, that should be the last thing he should be thinking about at the moment. He lashed his tail.

"If you were part of my pride, puppet, I'd teach you a bit of a lesson. I'll let it pass for now." He spoke to her with an calm yet threatening voice. He turned his attention back to the male as he spoke. "Well, that's good then. If you so happen to find you actually like the pride in the visit you two are doing, then by all means, come find me. " His voice was back to normal now. So easily he could change his moods even if deep down he wanted to at least smack the female.

"It won't be for just myself. Everyone in the pride. While here, you have to make up for your mouths, which around these parts there aren't really small meals, so Hunting with our hunters and helping them out works too." He told them. "That'll make up for both your mouths to feed. If you decide to stay, then I'll assign you more suitable jobs. Unless I can't find any, then you'll just have to be commoners." He spoke with such ease. He could see potential in the male already, but he wasn't sure about the female. It didn't help that his view on any female was low unless it came to reproducing.

"Yes." Murmured Nia softly as she bowed her head. Best to not make any trouble. Though the leopardess was feeling a bit irritable or maybe that was just nerves? Her golden eyes widened, if they decided to stay?

Nia looked over to Abra with some confusion, would they really do such a thing? Her paws itched with energy and she settled for digging her claws in and out of the soft dirt. Maybe, just maybe she was tempted by this. But for now she would follow Abra's lead. That decided Nia padded over behind the male lion making it obvious that she would be the one trailing him for a change.

The large male lion lifted his head into an understanding nod, subconsciously moving a bit to be next to Nia. "I wouldn't want to inconvience anyone in your lands and so long as I am here, you'll find that no one shall go hungry. " He'd work his a** off if that meant he could stay. Though, the leopard was starting to act like he had a separate side to him, which didn't bother Abrafo as much as make him curious. He treated Abrafo like a subordinate, typical of one in his position, but with Nia it was different. The term was on the tip of his tongue, but he really couldn't put a paw on it at the moment.

Hold up...no small meals? The Mwana had small prey, little morsels to torment you while you were forced to hunt longer and now it was like the curtains of heaven had been pulled open. Oh yes, he'd definately work hard and prove himself, if only for the chance to have a wildebeast in his maw.

Turning back to Nia, he gave her a reassuring smile, something that was rare for him in the later years before returning to Thona, an excited gleam in his eyes that his body didn't portray. "When can I start?"
