How do you get involved with something like that?Get some friends together! Local production teams are intended to be close enough that you can all get out and do some things. Any real life friends you can convince to, get them to grab a gaia account and join the guild. Even if they're only bear minimum active online, they can still be active in real life!
Get a camera! Any camera. I am just using our family camera, recording to a crappy SD card. Any camera that can hook up to the computer, cheap or not, will make a video worth making! Digital Cameras often have video options.
Get a tripod! Need to steady your shots? Get a cheap tripod. A lot of camera stores have ones that collapse small, but stand up tall, for very little money. Need to buy online?
Heres one for $16, and it'll work just fine.
Get some editing software! Windows Movie Maker is free and easy to use, with everything you need to make a decent film. AVS is also free to use, but it'll slap an annoying watermark smack dab in the center of your video.
Get some script writing software! Wanna write your script like it's supposed to be done? Celtx is a free program you download online, and it'll format the action, character dialog, scene changes, titles, cover page, casting list, and everything. Really easy!
And Ask Questions whenever you need! Also, check out what other teams are doing.
The Omega Team, with only two people in it, set off to the park yesterday. Fiona (aya17
cool and myself set up my camera with it's SD card, a cheap collapsible tripod, edited it on windows movie maker, and made both a
commercial and a
Film.
So I hope this helps, and I hope you become involved!
