Toshiro woke up the next morning in a bit of an odd state. On the one hand he felt rather nauseous, but on the other he also felt strangely happy and almost giddy. What on earth did I get into last night? Ugh. As he came more into focus, he realized that there was a mare lying with him, and she wasn't Xiang. Oh! A flash of memories from the previous day suddenly came back to him. In the end they had been unable to locate his sister after a full day's search. At the end of the day he and Kindle had split off from the other two to grab some food, and they found a bunch of these funny looking brown plants. He remembered feeling a bit tingly, and then...
Oh my, he thought to himself, face quickly growing very hot. What have I done? Despite the mild panic ensuing, couldn't shake off the happy buzz he was still feeling. Ok, Toshiro. Although last night was really quite something, never eat unknown little brown plants again. Oh dear. Hesitantly, he gave his winged companion a soft nudge. "... Kindle, are you awake?"

Wings folded tightly against her back, Kindle slept peacefully. Now and then, the wind would catch feathers, and suddenly she'd be flying. Hooves pounding the ground, head tucked, it took just a little leap and she was in the air grinning down at the surprised chocolate Kirin beneath her. In lulls, she remembered her wings weren't quite strong enough yet. And what was that stallion doing down there? Her brow knit lightly as she pressed her nose into the warmth beside her. They were looking for Xiang...
And suddenly she felt that warmth nudge back. A blue eye fluttered open with a soft groan. Why is everything so fuzzy? Staring up at the blurred mass of brown, she stifled a yawn and uttered the first thing that came to mind. "Xiang?"

Toshiro shook his head lightly. "Um, no, we couldn't find her," he replied, still just a bit flustered. "Um... Do you happen to remember anything from last night? sweatdrop " It still boggled his mind at how the strange plants could have had such an effect on them! I mean, he had heard of some plants being poisonous and even deadly, but he certainly would have never imaged that...

Kindle tilted her head, frowning as she considered. She remembered the river, searching for Xiang and coming up short. An ear twitched. The world was still a little unfocused. Sighing softly, she closed her eyes, waiting for things to settle. "We got food, right? And then-..." A slow blush spread over her cheeks, visible even beneath the white. It crept toward her ears. "We-... we-... Xiang, I am so sorry! I didn't realize..."

"Um, my name's Toshiro," he corrected awkwardly, still a bit red himself. "Xiang's my sister. sweatdrop Anyway, I am in dire need of an apology- I don't think those plants settled too well with me." The stallion cleared his throat and glanced away awkwardly. "Um, not that that excuses what I did or anything. Could you forgive me?" Why the logical part of his brain was scolding him, the happy buzz kept him from really regretting it as much as he normally might have. It was as if everything had been intensified by the plant's effects, so their evening was exceptionally blissful. I wonder how long before this poison is fully out of my system... he wondered idly to himself, still concerned for his female companion.

The flush finally continued its journey. Thoroughly pink to the tips of her ear tufts, Kindle shook her head quickly. "I'm so sorry, Toshiro! It's-... it's nothing, really. I'm fine." Glancing up at him, she tilted her head. "But are you alright?" Face pink, she couldn't hold his eye.

"Um, a little nauseous, but otherwise fine." He stood up slowly and shook out his mane. "Um, would you like something to eat? Erm, not what we had last night though," the stallion clarified. He was thankful that his brown fur hid most of his blush. Kindle on the other hand wasn't as fortunate with her light coloring.

"You're hungry?" Kindle considered a moment, then nodded. "Food." Cringing, she pointedly ignored the growling in her tummy. "And possibly water." No, definitely water. Her mouth felt like a sandbox.

Toshiro nodded, also a bit thirsty. "Sounds like a plan. Let's look around then." It didn't take very long for the two to come across a small stream. Next to it were plenty of flowers, grass, and other edible foliage. "Here, go ahead," he offered, gesturing toward the water and food for her with a small smile. "Ladies first."

Pushing herself up, Kindle kept carefully beside him. She'd no idea why she was still so tired. Nor why hunger gnawed at her like it did. As they approached, she shook her head gently, nuzzling his neck. "There's plenty for both of us, Toshiro."

The stallion flushed a little, nuzzling her back softly. "I know, I just think you should eat first," he replied, nudging her lightly toward the stream. "You're thirsty, yes?"

With a light nod, Kindle left him, moving carefully. At the stream's edge, she ducked her head, lapping at the water appreciatively. Eyes closing, she savored it a brief moment. It had never tasted so good before. Was it the mushrooms they'd eaten? She'd never heard of food doing that before. Sating herself, she turned, pulling at the tall grasses gingerly. Had to leave plenty for him.

After Kindle had had her fill of water, Toshiro lowered his head down to the stream's edge as well. After several long gulps, he felt rather refreshed. Best to cleanse my system however I can, he thought to himself with a small smile. He ate some grass in content silence for a few minutes with Kindle, pondering over what had happened. It occurred to him that there was a very real possibility that something more could come of this. He may just have to put the search for his sister on hold for a little while if that was the case. "How are you feeling?" he asked gently, breaking the small silence between them.

Kindle grabbed another mouthful of grass, tearing it from the ground. Munching quietly, her ears twitched, gaze turning up to the stallion. "I'm just a little sleepy. Better with some food in my tummy. How are you?" Her cheeks heated once more. "We had a- a long night..."

His cheeks flushed again too, and he gave a small nod. "Erm, yes we did. Anyway, um, the food is helping." Granted, there was nothing wrong with what had happened last night, it was just the fact that he hardly knew her that made it such a big deal.
