No one was around at night time, which meant Dane could go do what he wanted without anyone caring. The sidewalks were empty save for a cat here and there. Dane had been sneaking out at night more and more recently. He liked the time to be alone and think, he also liked to just fool around.
The neighborhood was quiet and dark, most of the other people were all asleep. The little glutton boy felt like he was in control, having no need to worry about getting yelled at he spotted a big nice oak tree. It was the perfect climbing tree so the boy decided to hoist himself up on the branches and climb until he found a nice branch to sit down at.

They didn't know he was out at this time of night, they never did. Or at least Dion would like to think they never did. It wasn't like he was getting himself into trouble or anything. Being part diligence didn't leave you sitting still for a long time let alone sleeping. He'd been going out at night a lot recently since there was really nothing to do in the house when everyone was asleep. He had tried to wake up Aiko a couple times but she usually just fell back to sleep despite how she promised not to. It was okay though even if it bothered Dion a little. No one ever really stayed up with him, they usually fell back to sleep whether they wanted to or not. This was the main reason why he had taken to wonder outside and on the streets at the dead hours of the night.
Dion walked silently down the streets. Normally he'd have taken something to keep him occupied but he decided against it today. He walked with his hands in his pockets as he kicked at a rock as he walked. He was wearing a new pair of sandals Emilie had given him so with every kick Dion's claws chipped away at the rock. His rings turned slowly around him as his tail kind of swept the ground behind him. It was pretty long so he was lazy with it on occasions.
It took a couple minutes for Dion to reach the tree Dane was sitting on mostly because Dion had been walking so slow. By the time he reached the tree the small rock he had been kicking was so tiny he had lost track of it in a small patch of grass. Dion didn't notice Dane, he wasn't really paying much attention to anything. As Dion walked the last few feet over to the tree he began swinging his arms at his sides, trying to occupy himself some way as he walked. He swung them high and swung them low, moving them in circles as he stopped in front of the tree and stared out at the deserted street.
Everyone was most likely sleeping or just laying in bed trying to sleep. The silence of it all made Dion want to shout at the top of his lungs just to see if he'd make a noise. He didn't though, he didn't want to get into trouble. So, instead, Dion dropped himself down in the grass below the big oak tree. Falling right on his bum with little to no noise. His ring shook slightly as his tail curled up lazily around his waist. He sat there, silent for the time being. He wouldn't be here long, he never stayed in one place for long. Still, he tried.

Dane had a very keen sense of hearing so he had heard the boy coming down the street from a ways away. He turned his gaze to the road and saw the child kicking along a rock. He remained silent surprised that some one else was out this late other than himself. His eyes followed Dion all the way up until he plopped down by the base of the tree trunk.
The green little boy watched the other child for a little while. He decided to try and sneak down the tree and be subtle about it so he started to carefully make his way back down the branches. Unfortunately his subtlety didn't pay off. One of the branches toward the bottom of the tree snapped and Dane fell the rest of the way down the tree landing hard on his rump, "OUCH! DAMNIT!!" He hollered in pain as he hit the ground.

Dion hadn't noticed Dane in the least. Dion hadn't considered for a second that there might be other people out at this time as well let alone someone be in the tree he sat under. He was enjoying the silence when Dane came tumbling down the tree and landing a very short distance away. To say in the least, Dion had the living daylights scared out of him.
"AHH!!" Dion screamed. He lashed out at him, his tail whipping around subconsciously in an attempt to hurt whoever or whatever landed next to him.

Dane didn't have any time to react, Dion's tail hit square center in Dane's gut and knocked the wind out of the older boy, "Wh-What the hell?..." He wheezed trying to breathe. This had turned from a relaxing night into a painful hectic escapade in only a few seconds.

By the time Dane had spoke Dion was on his feet. His hands were balled up into tight fist and he was ready to hit this person again if he had to. But he didn't have to, this guy, who wasn't that much older then Dion, was already wheezing. Had he hit him that hard? Dion watched him as he tried to catch the breathe that had been knocked out of him. He didn't look all that tough or scary. Well, at least not on the ground.
"Who are you?" Dion asked as if the older boy had been following him. For all Dion knew he probably had. If that was the case Dion had no idea how he had climbed up the tree without him knowing. "What were you doing in the tree? What do you want?" Dion asked as if the glutton boy was a bad guy. Dion's tail twitched uneasily behind him as he waited for the boys answers.

Once Dane finally caught his breath he finally got up to his feet and looked at Dion rather pissed, "Don't talk to me like that!" He snapped, "I was just up in the tree minding my own business and you came kicking some rock down the road! I was just coming down to try and say hi!" He was obviously upset with being whacked in his stomach and then interrogated. He knew tails were very powerful appendages, at least his stomach had cushioning so it didn't hurt too horribly.

Dion was surprised by how angry the boy looked. The way he snapped at him made Dion flinch slightly and feel somewhat apologetic. "Well! If you just want to say hi why are you falling out of trees?!" Dion demanded to know. It was a decent question. If the boy had just climbed down like a normal person Dion wouldn't have gotten scared and hit him. "How do you know I was kicking a rock???" How long had he been watching him? Dion stared at him with a skeptical look in his eye.

"Sorry for falling on a snapped branch!" Dane snapped back. The fact that the boy was arguing only made Dane more upset, he was still in pain from the fall and the tail whipping and was generally not in a good mood.
He pointed at his ears, "These things are kinda big, I can hear a lot," He said with a hurumph.

"Should've been more careful then!" Dion shot back at him. Their voices had grown somewhat loud as their argument progressed. Dion noticed this and made sure to lower his own voice, he had no intention to go home so soon. Especially not because of this argument. "Yeah, whatever. I don't really care anymore." Dion said, waving a hand at him so he'd shut up. "What's your name green monkey?" Dion asked him. "Well, you're not really good at climbing if you're falling out of trees but you are green." Dion corrected himself. "Okay, boogie man, what's your name?"

"What makes you think I should tell you?! You just knocked the wind out of me and blamed me for a branch snapping when I was trying to climb down," He was getting aggravated with this kids attitude. Apparently nights weren't good for being alone anymore.

"I'm not blaming you for breaking the branch! I'm just saying that MAYBE you should have been more careful!" Dion could tell that the older boy was getting angry but he could care less at the moment. "If you were more careful you wouldn't have fallen and I wouldn't have hit you." In Dion's mind all of this was Dane's fault. Dion paused for a moment, breathing sharply through his nostrils before he shrugged his shoulders with a nonchalant expression.
"You don't have to tell me anything Boogie Man." He said. "I can just call you Boogie Man then. Okay Boogie man?"

Dane scoffed, "Kid you really are whacked," He said with a scowl, "Don't you have any manners? When some one falls you ask if they're okay, when you hit some one you apologize! Who raised you? Monkies?" The boy said displeased.

"Last time I checked you don't apologize to clumsy strangers who scare you at night." Dion rolled his eyes at Dane. "Why were you in a tree anyway?" Dion asked, he doubted that he'd be getting an answer. He shook his head, "Forget it." Dion placed his hands behind his head and stared at Dane in silence. He stared at him for a moment or two before speaking again. "I'm sorry for hitting you even if you deserved it." Dion said with a smile.

"Well it's progress at least..." Dane said with a bit of a pouty look on his face. "I was climbing the tree because I like to come outside at night and think, if that's okay with you," He glowered.
After his anger died down he lifted up his shirt to look at the welt that Dion had given him, "Damn...that really hurt..." He said cringing as he gently touched it. Once the boy was calmed down he seemed much more friendly, he seemed to give forgiveness easily.
