The morning was cool and crisp in the small valley. Dew beaded the grass and the leaves of the trees, making the world seem paler, a crystallized version of itself tucked away from the world until the heat of the rising sun peeked over the hills to warm it away. A dense mist lingered in the dell, shielding the family that rested there from sight. Somewhere a bird called, breaking the silence of the world, and a patch of white shifted. The cub was nearly invisible against the foggy backdrop as he shook himself awake and flicked the water droplets from his whiskers.

He nosed his mother who remained sleeping before slipping off to drink from a nearby pool. He was a diligent cub, and he bathed in the water after drinking to clean his fur. The bird called again and he looked up, trying to spot it.

Within the past few days his family had rested with a traveling group of story tellers. One tale came to mind then, of some lions who tamed birds, became their friends, and traveled with them. Perhaps the cub decided he would like a bird friend, or maybe he planned to eat it, or simply explore. Regardless, he wasted little time in slipping off into the fog to wander quietly around their little vale.

Fog...and lots of it. No doubt it irritated the adolescent to no end. He couldn't see anything! It was annoying enough to know that he was too tired to lift himself out of such a thick mist with his heavy wings, so it really didn't help that he was lost in the shroud as well. So, after finally getting fed up with it all, he spread wide his wings and gave one strong flap to rid his path of the pesky mist. Tarik really hadn't given the idea that there were others in the mist much thought, so when he caught sight of a cub nearby he almost froze.

Calmly, the deity folded his wings and made his way toward the young mortal, unsure what he could really say to explain what he was doing. To start though..

"Good morning."

Suffice to say Feidhlim startled at the loud rush of wind, and the sudden sensation of rushing air. He hunkered down and looked up, expecting to see a huge bird take flight. Instead all he saw was the clear sky above (strange on its own, where had the mist suddenly gone?) and a moment later a stranger. A huge stranger. With wings. Instinct told him to hide, but manners begged him to at least return the kind greeting.

"Good Morning..." He rose up from his crouch cautiously. He could dart back into the underbrush and hide even without the fog..."I'm Feidhlim. You have..." He paused to take a better look at the much larger lion, "Very pretty wings...sir?"

Well at least he was polite. Tarik managed a (kind of scary..) smirk as he took a seat only a few feet from where the cub was. He seemed ready to run and hide if the situation called for it. Which it wouldn't. The adolescent had never been one to purposely scare cubs out of their pelts just for the heck of it. To teach them a lesson, sure, but he'd cleared the mist from his path for his own benefit. This cub hadn't done anything wrong by him, and just.....happened to witness it.

"Thank you," he replied to the younger one's compliment, though it sounded pretty unsure. Tarik couldn't blame him though, so he shrugged the uneasiness in the other's voice and kept on with his awkward smirk. "I'm Tarik.. I'm afraid I'm not too sure how to return the compliment though."

Feid had begun to relax hen he wasn't immediately run down. Still, this lion (was he a lion? He had wings...) was big, and a stranger. "You're welcome," He managed a nod, rising up a bit from his crouch. "I'm Feidhlim..." He frowned. Probably shouldn't tell a stranger his name. Too late now though, and it was the polite thing to do. "Don't worry about the compliment." He shrugged. Truthfully there wasn't much outstanding about him. He was a nice enough color by his own thoughts, and he was the biggest cub in his litter, and nice to people, but then this fellow couldn't know that.

"Uhm...you didn't like the mist?" He asked. "I was hiding in it...do you think you could blow it back when you're done doing whatever you're doing? I was trying to find a bird. At least, I think it was a bird. I guess it might have been you. I heard feathers."

Riight.. well it felt somewhat awkward now, for some reason. He'd never actually ran into a cub without his guise, so this was definitely something new. Tarik wasn't one too appreciate new things actually, but the cub wasn't freaking out or doing anything unnecessary, so there wasn't any reason for him to scare the lad. "Feidhlim, huh?" he asked, rolling the name on his tongue a bit. It was a strange name, he figured that much. "Sorry if I said it wrong.."

And another awkward silence on his end while the cub seemed to go on about something concerning the fog.

"Not like it?" the god asked, raising a brow as he thought on it. "It was inconvenient, that's all. I couldn't see where I was going, so I got rid of it. Mm.. as for bringing it back, I could probably give it a try. Is there a lake or something nearby?"

Feid perked up. So far this...he really didn't know what he was. A god? Was this what his mom had said they looked like? Maybe. Either way he didn't seem too scary. "It's close enough. I can tell you mean me when you say it, so it's fine." His name had been tricky for some to learn. He liked it though. It sounded calm and cool compared to the exotic twang most names seemed to have.

"I guess I didn't think about how others couldn't see in the mist. You don't have to bring it back if it's a bother. There is a pool nearby though, if you'd like to drink. Just over this way, through the trees." He nodded to the way he'd some. "So...you're a god, right? Cause you have wings, and you're big. What're you the god of?"

Tarik gave a shrug, not minding that the cub had let the mist issue go. He was, actually, a bit too lazy to bring it back, but it wouldn't have been too much work. Just freeze over the surface of the water and do some quick work with his wings and it'd be over with. But then...doing nothing was always better. "No, I'm alright," he said, glancing toward where the cub had nodded. He'd be fine without water for now.

At his last question Tarik gave a sort of nod, wondering where Feid had learned of them. Most he'd ever encountered could never really guess or wrap their minds around the idea of meeting a god. At least not when he was actually around, though he assumed they put two and two together after a while. "Yes, a god," he answered, "My domain is ice, so you can probably guess that I don't have much to do around this part of the world." The god gave a shrug. "I find mortals amusing to some extent, and mingling seems better than just lazing about." A snort. "Most of the time anyway.."
