The life of a vagabond - exciting, incomparable, and always filled with new and interesting things. Or..you know...not.
"Boring.." the deity said, heaving a sigh and dragging his paws as he went. Tarik was walking again, somehow feeling more up to it these days as opposed to flying. It just seemed easier......somehow. He couldn't understand it either, he kind of just felt like walking. So he did.
He'd taken to his usual disguise when walking among the mortals - a large adolescent with pale blue eyes, a white pelt and several tattoos scattered throughout his body. He expected, actually, to have run into somebody by now, seeing as he'd been walking around since morning. However, with the luck that he usually had he pretty much brushed off the expectation hours ago. And he would've kept on going too, if it hadn't been so hot. He looked skyward, eyes narrowing as he noted that the skies were clear of any clouds, and the sun was only beginning to descend from its highest point in the sky. It was just past noon....and still really hot.
"Fantastic.." he muttered, then stopped to look around for some shade. He was damn near exhausted and even if he was an immortal it didn't keep him from getting tired. When he saw that there were no such places to be seen, he shook his head and heaved yet another sigh. "My luck.." So with that, he kept on walking, occasionally looking around to see if he'd get lucky at some point...maybe.

Bekile yawned lazily as she flopped down in the mud. Other lionesses might be horrified to willingly coat their fur in mud but Bekile was not your average lioness. Rolling back and forth, she made sure the thick, cool mud covered her dusky blue fur. Getting to her feet, she shook out the excess mud and sighed contently as the coolness of the mud sunk into her hot body. Yes she looked like a swamp thing, but now she was cool.
Catching sight of a stranger in the distance, Bekile got her feet under her frowning faintly as she headed towards the stranger. Her violet eyes where wary but she wasn't ready to offer violence but it was there in her stocky body.

Tarik, whose eyes were staring almost dejectedly down at the ground beneath his paws, hadn't noticed that there was someone else around. Granted, that someone else barely resembled any living creature he'd ever seen before. When he glanced up and finally saw it he stopped in his tracks and raised a brow. It was really was a strange sight for someone that wasn't from around this area..
"Uh.." he started, squinting his eyes a bit as he watched the great brown...thing...make its way toward him. There really wasn't much else to say.

It wasn't until she noticed the stunned/confused look on the others face that Bekile thought of how she might look. A grawf of laughter slipped from her before she puffed herself up to look imposing. Now normally the lioness was rather calm and easy going but sometimes...sometimes she had a mischievous streak that she couldn't help.
"Who dares enter my swamps?!"
It was so hard to keep from laughing but she never knew when she might have the chance to play such a fun and harmless prank again? Her tail twitched behind her like a live wire as she studied the smaller male before her. She was short of a lioness and rather stocky.

Swamps? In the Savannah? He'd never heard of it....but maybe that's why the place seemed a bit different. Being one to examine every little detail of any situation, Tarik didn't reply to the thing's question right away. It'd take more than a boom-y voice to intimidate him, really, but the thing made him curious.
"I wasn't aware that I'd stumbled into such a place," he finally answered, brow still raised as he looked at the thing with a sort of...fading interest. "If it'd please you, though, I could leave. I've no interest in getting any mud on my pristine coat."
At that Tarik stared a bit more closely at the figure before him. Excess mud seemed to drip off of the main body, small bits of twig and such sticking out in places they...really shouldn't have been to begin with. After a while the sight was starting to get a little too unnatural, even for him. He gave a sort of disgusted look as a big glop of mud kind of slid down the thing's leg and made a sickening plop as it landed on the ground. He took a step back. "Right.." and he turned, stopped for a moment and shuddered. "I guess I'll be going then.."

He would hear a faintly giggle from behind him where the thing was. The sound was light and defiantly feminine. If he turned back he would see the thing lift a paw to wipe excess mud off her face leaving behind a grinning lioness. She laughed again, her ears perking foreward, her violet eyes dancing with amusement.
"Please wait, I was just playing with you. If you mean no harm, all are welcome here in the swamplands."
She dropped down to roll in the dry grass, getting most of the mud off her dusky blue coat before sitting back up to face the stranger still giggling faintly. "You have to forgive me, it gets very boring out here on patrol."

The sound that came to him next was...giggling. It sent a chill down his spine - not that it was creepy or anything, but it irritated him to some degree. He wasn't exactly a fan of having 'fun' or anything like that, and he wasn't used to hearing laughter of any sort. At her words Tarik turned around, pale blue gaze landing a now identifiable lioness.
"Patrol?" he asked, moving back to where he'd been standing a moment ago. "I would never have guessed you were on patrol if you had time enough to 'play' with me." The adolescent took a seat, still looking a little irritated.

Bekile smiled gently as she sat back down. "Well usually nothing happens on patrol so I must make my entertainment as I find it. Forgive me for my rudeness. I am Bekile." Her smile was gentle and welcoming then as she calmed down.

"I see," he replied, losing just a bit of his irritation. She seemed polite enough, and he was never one to purposely start some sort of conflict anyway. Besides, he was nearby or within pridal borders, and it wouldn't do him any good to start a fight even if he'd wanted to.
"Well I didn't much appreciate it," the lion continued, then heaved a sigh. "But seeing as it didn't go very far I suppose it's still forgivable at this point."
He glanced around, only now noticing the differences with this area and the rest of the Savannah. It'd been his mistake for not paying much attention, which was how he managed to walk so close to this pride's lands. He brushed the thought aside, almost rolling his eyes at such a stupid mistake of his. "They call me Tarik."

She smiled faintly, "Well forgive me for my error Tarik. The mud is a little trick I have learned to keep the blood eating bugs for the swamp away as well as keeping your body cool in this humidity." She chuckled softly as she gazed at the younger male. "What brings you to the swamps?"

He gave a small shrug, shifting almost uncomfortably where he sat. "Just passing through, I suppose. I wasn't aware that I'd even entered a swamp." Tarik glanced around once again, raising a brow and wanting to smack himself for not noting the blatantly obvious. "What I get for not paying attention, most likely."
He let a sort of odd silence pass between them before speaking again. "Ah, you mentioned being on patrol. If that's the case then I suppose there's a pride nearby here?

Bekile nodded as she studied the strange young male. "Aye these are the Jini-msemi lands. We have adapted to life in the swamps and honestly I rather like it here." She chuckled faintly as she got to her feet.
Sure the swamps weren't really anyone's idea of a beautiful home but she had grown fond of the dangerous lands and the rather easy meals in the fish and other swamp dwelling animals.

Jini'msemi? He'd never heard of them.. then again, he hadn't heard of a lot of prides. Tarik wasn't the one to really pay them any attention anyway, so he gave a sort of shrug before getting up onto his paws again. "I see," he said, sounding a little uninterested now. It could've gone unnoticed though, since the feeling didn't show on his face at all. He could stand to here about a pride for only so long.. and one that was situated in a swamp wasn't one he'd be fond of hearing too much about. It probably had its merits, but he was nit-picky about being clean, so it wasn't an ideal place to be for him.
"Right. Well, while you said I was welcome into these lands so long as I wasn't hostile, I think I'll be taking my leave now. Best not bother you while on.. patrol. I may pass by some other time though, if only to offer you a bit of amusement." It was probably among the nicer things he'd said to any mortal, but he couldn't get himself to say that he wasn't a fan of things like swamps, which was why he was leaving so soon.
"Goodbye then," and with that the male was on his walk once more, wondering when the next time he'd run into someone would come.

Bekile blinked after him startled then chuckled softly as he got up and walked away. "Be safe." No life in the swamps wasn't for everyone. She shook her head amused as she headed back towards her patrol route.
