Manda
She'd stayed out too late... Kya knew that as soon as shapes started getting fuzzy around the edges, losing color when the sun went down. And ... they also lost their familiarity. Hurrying, she tried to get back to where she knew things a bit better... not having admitted to anyone that her eyes did this when it got dark. She didn't want to be a burden... But soon enough, she had gotten completely turned around. And she knew she was lost. Sitting down with a soft huff, the cheetah bit at her lip - squinting a little as she looked around. If nothing else... she... should find somewhere to hide until morning... ooooh why had she gone out so late?

Kamau was out hunting, or...he had been. Actually he'd found a couple of rabbits already, the creatures sating his hunger, and letting him move on. He was looking for water now, as the walk had made him desire something to wet his tongue, and he could scent it...somewhere, though it was a ways off. It was in this search that he detected yet another scent, this one oddly, distantly familiar. Wrinkling his nose, he then trotted towards it, unable to place it at first, and the thought would not rest until he had discovered who it was. As Kya's form became visible in the dark, Kamau's crimson eyes widened. Oh my! He hadn't seen her since he was small, and he'd been rather disappointed by that, actually. "Kya?" His voice was lower now, as he'd grown, becoming larger, stronger, a creature on the verge of adulthood.
Manda
Kya jumped at the sudden voice, spinning around and squinting even more. But... after a moment - something about it seemed familiar, and she asked hesitantly, "Kamau... is that you?" Dammitall, if only she could -see-...

Ah! So she remembered, smiling faintly, he bobbed his head, "It's me...are you ok?" it looked as though...she was having trouble seeing. Frowning a bit at that, he padded closer, making no effort to mask his pawsteps so that she would know he was coming. "Is something the matter?"
Manda
I ..." she started, and hesitated for a moment. She hadn't told anyone else about this... not wanting to seem weak. But somehow, though she hadn't seen him in a while, she trusted Kamau. "When it gets dark... everything kind of goes fuzzy and weird," she murmured softly. "And I ... I got lost trying to get home."

He made a low, concerned noise, reaching out to nudge her gently with his nose. "It's all right...I suppose that happens to some people. If you'd like, I can help you get home." She'd taken him close to the pride lands before, and he could still remember the way. It was something he was good at, retracing where his paws had been before. That, and this was his chance...he could help her out, be the noble knight, and besides that...he liked Kya quite well enough, she was sweet and pretty and he hated to see her upset.
Manda
"Would you..?" Kya asked, ears perking up a bit. That would be wonderful really. "I hope it's not too far, though... I can't tell what anything is when it's dark anymore." She made a frustrated sound, tail twitching in an irritated sort of manner. "It's my own fault for going out late..."
o0 Sephiros Immortal 0o
He shook his head at that, "It's not your fault, you just didn't think about it...it happens sometimes, and it certainly isn't your fault that you can't see at night." Making another soothing, purring sound, he brushed up against her, "All right, I'm here, now walk beside me, all right? So that you don't get lost."
Manda
She sighed at that and leaned against the male just a bit - glad for the help, and the company. Smiling faintly, Kya asked, "So, I'm guessing you've gotten stronger since last time..."

"Oh a lot stronger." He said quickly, without thinking once more, a habit of his. "Erm...well, you know, strong enough, it happens when you get older. I don't mean to brag." However, his frame was quite sturdy, muscular, and his mane was growing in...at that, his thoughts flitted back to a childhood friend...and he'd wondered if he'd ever have a mane...well apparently so.
Manda
"It's all right..." Kya replied softly, smiling just a bit as she glanced over. This close... she could almost make out features, though she wished she could see him when it was light. But she could feel him, and for now, that was enough.

Purring, he chuckled softly, "I suppose it is, if you say so." Goodness but she had grown up, filled out, frame still lithe and lanky, on the verge of adulthood even as he was. He was old enough to notice such things too, and though she'd been pretty before, she was now downright beautiful, her fur striking even in the darkness. Slowly ambling off in the direction of her pride, he kept his eye on her, to ensure that she didn't stray, though he could feel her comforting warmth at his shoulder.
Manda
And Kya leaned into the male's warmth too, gland for his strength at the moment. And soon, she -did- start to recognize things, blurry as they were. "Oh! I know where we are now... I have a little den just... uhm. Over that way..." she nodded toward a familiar looking blur of bushes. "If you want to, you could stay here for the night... " Oops, hadn't really thought about that before saying it - much like Kamau tended to blurt things out. "I mean, you don't have to... "

He blushed fiercely when she asked, but with a soft laugh, he nosed her, "Sure, I'll stay with you. I can protect you until the sun rises, eh?" It was a ways back to where he was staying, after all, so to bed down in her den would be the wise idea. "It would be pretty stupid of me to try to go back now, so...as long as you're offering?"
Manda
"That... would be wonderful," Kya replied with a flush of her own and a quick smile. "And I am offering... there should be room for two in my den." She purred softly at him, leaning over to nuzzle at his jaw just slightly.
