Edel had wandered far outside her natural habitat, she wasn't quite sure what possessed her to do so. The sense of adventure? The possible new, interesting things, just waiting to be discovered? Or maybe, she was simply bored and hoping for something to spice up her day. Either way, she now found herself staring out at the open water and listening to the crashing waves as they beat against the shore.
She hadn't witnessed a wonderful such as this in a while, and she was perfectly content to continue listening. Except, such relaxing moments weren't her luck. It just so happened she wasn't alone on the beach. She'd overlooked the stallion when she first steped onto the sand, but now that the initial awe had gone away, she certainly took notice in the dangerous male.
She didn't saw anything, but stared at him through her blindfold and was curious why such a startling stallion was so out of place...on a beach!

Megapi stood in the surf, the waves pouring past his legs and surging up his ankles. It was a...sobering experience. Here he could smell nothing but salt, hear nothing but waves, feel nothing but cold--cold water, cold wind, cold sand. The skinwalker threw his head back, feeling the elements rip through his pelt and batter his wings. So this is the sea...this is the great predator that white bird was talking about...what secrets do you hold? Are you the predator I should have become? The hunter who would be the greatest of all skinwalkers if you were? What can I learn from you, sea?
He sighed and turned around, following the wave back into shore. He shivered a little; a sobering experience...very sobering. It was only then that he saw the blue mare with the blindfold. He stared at her. Cursed salt water, clogging his senses! He hadn't noticed her arriving! Could she see him under that blindfold? Megapi took a few steps towards her, ready go pursue her if she saw him.

Edel stiffened a bit when the the stallion turned around and he stared right at her. He obviously didn't know if Edel could see or not, so she gently turned her head as if she hadn't seen anything, and was merely listening to the waves. She took a deep breath, calming herself and pretending to simply sniff the air. Which had she been thinking, she would have realized that was a bad idea.
With the wind blowing in the right direction, she could smell him against the salty air and it was not pleasant. It was so distasteful she even wrinkled her nose. Stupid, stupid, stupid...! She was never so careless! She couldn't pretend anymore.
"The beach isn't exactly the best thing in the world..." She spoke up, without looking toward the male. She did not want a confrontation, but was obviously ready for one.

She hadn't seen him. Good. He stepped carefully towards her, wincing as the sand crunched under his hooves. She would be able to hear that, surely. The blind usually had a good sense of hearing. He crept around to her side, keeping his wing in close, hoping that she wouldn't sense him until too late. He kept his breathing as quiet as possible. This could be good. This could be very good.
Then she wrinkled her nose. He stifled a sigh of frustration. She probably smelled the stench of death and blood all over Megapi. He watched her, tensing in case she ran. He noted her barbed tail; surely that could hurt. "Dunno about that," he murmured. "I sort of like the ocean...it's very strong, very...fierce. Almost makes you feel small, doesn't it?" he asked her. He circled around to her other side, thrusting his face into hers. His wings spread out and he waited for her reaction, his muscles tensed once more.

Edel had to admit, she felt a bit awkward compared to the stallion's huge build. She was half flutter, thus she was extremely short, and when he bent his neck, to glare at her 'unseeing' eyes, she had to stifle a grin. This was no time to find life ironic at all, this was totally a time to defend herself!
She untucked her wings and flared them out, more in a defensive style. "You think the ocean's fierce? You're messing with the wrong mare toughy." She wasn't he best at making threats, but she made sure he'd notice her barbed flicking tail.

Megapi grinned maliciously at the short mare's unease. She would be easy to overpower. She was a little scrawny, but he could always follow her up with some fish or bird or whatever one could find on the sea shore. He could hardly wait now, and licked his lips impatiently. He dug his hooves in the sand and prepared himself in a ready fighting position.
"The ocean is the fiercest thing there is," he murmured, lashing his tail. "Even more fierce than I am. You, mere...dragonfly, cannot compare. If you think you can fight me, why don't you make the first move?

"I much prefer to end things, rather then stop them." Edel stated, glaring daggers at the male in front of her. She hated having been forced out of such a peaceful position, into one so threatening. She didn't stand much of a chance, if they fought. Though she was confident that she could easily slip away if she could find the time to shrink down. She just needed a large enough distraction...
She searched around with her eyes, but didn't find anything that could prove of use. She'd be relying completely on luck...which was never on her side.

Megapi snorted and threw his head back. He whinnied with laughter. It was a grim, evil, dark laughter. A hungry laughter. He couldn't remember a time when he ever laughed out of pure joy. If amusement is joy, maybe...but the world is just so stupid that everything is amusing...this cannot be joy. He wasn't disturbed by that. And he wasn't disturbed that he wasn't disturbed. Nothing could disturb him anymore. He shook his head again, his tail tracing a design in the wet sand.
"I suppose you'd like me to start the fight, then?" he asked. "I will, if you'd like." With only that as a warning, he reared up silently, his hooves angled down to take her shoulders first.

'At least he gave me some kind of warning...' Edel found him a little harder to dodger then normal, he was huge compared to anyone she'd ever fought before. And really, she didn't fight at all really. A few skirmishes here and there, but this time it was life or death matters, and she had a sinking feeling that this might just be the end of her.
She thought back to all of the oddities she'd seen, and those she'd yet to see. She couldn't die here! Not when there was so much more for her to see and experience! What had caused her to go on this stupid side trip to the beach? She could be half way through the ruins by now!
She glared her eyes as she stomped backwards in the deep sand. If she was slower then normal, she wondered how much the stallion's weight might cause him to slow. That could mean a bit of an advantage, but she doubted it. She swung her tail at his flank as she was continuing his landing into the sand where she'd once been.
