For a while I have been curious where exactly Atlantis not only was, but what it was, as in, how far it was developed before being destroyed, was it their own tech that caused them to sink into the ocean, stuff like that

Well, where Plato's work Critias cuts off, Zeus was about to beat the snot out of them for being jerks. So I'd say it's not technology, but the Wrath of God.
Some theorize that the tragedy of Atlantis was actually the eruption of Thera and the demise of the Minoan civilization, making Atlantis likely Thera/Santorini, or Crete circa 1600 BCE. The Minoans, as it turns out, had an economic empire that spanned throughout the Mediterranean, and basically ran a monopoly on trade.
This theory assumes a large number of mistakes on Plato's part, such as extra digits (for instance, 900 years instead of 9000 years ago) and locations ("Pillars of Herakles" is apparently very vague), but it seems to be the most realistic possibility to me. sweatdrop
I uh... once had a major interest in Atlantis.

It is an interesting topic indeed. also, traditionally the "Pillars of Heracles" are the Strait of Gibralter (Monacco and Spain), and Plato does indeed say it was "west of the pillars" and in "the Atlantic". I'll take a look in Criteus and find the exact lines when i get a chance. Also, there are theories that the small island of Bimini could possibly be a remnant of Atlantis (the whole "underwater road" thing can be possibly be disproven (as the same phenomena occurs in a few places in the ocean) except for one spot where it does an unnatural turn ).

Bronze L as if someone came around and purposely tried to wipe the info? it wasn't exactly someone who wiped the info but nature who wiped the info. it is known as the Biblical flood. it destroyed not only atlantis but the civilization had to move somewhere else. imagine the world's ocean level going so high you can't really be anywhere but really high.. like on top of a mountain...like in peru where there is a city in the clouds as they say... Atlantis was described with a temple concentric rings of metals, alloys, gold, silver. South america has gold, alloys etc... also the fabled city of gold comes from south america. But my intrest isn't where the city of atlantis is... but where did the ppl who were in atlantis go... a clue lies in egypt. the sphinx has rings around it looking as if sand has erroded it. while upon closer study has found it was water erosion instead! meaning that the sphynx was there before the water covered the area..thus around the time of atlantis. i'm still researching much of this stuff... and it's an ongoing love of mine. feel free to speak about it. xp

I don't know much about atlantis, but I think he was in an island somewhere in the atlantic and its undiscovered. As for the road, no clue.

I have many different thoughts on Atlantis but here's one....What if it didn't fall beneath the ocean? If they where so technologically advanced don't you think they could have hidden themselves from outsiders? Also could the atlantians be the spirits of lore, like the vampires, the werewolves, the elves, the brownies, the leprechauns, the dragons, the youkai, etc? I mean many of those myths transcend racial boundaries so wouldn't it make sense that they all evolved from one place? Also there have been a lot of different places where Atlantis is thought to be. What if it wasn't one city but an Empire of many cities? Lastly about the Spinx, it has been proven scientifically that Egypt was once a jungle and the Mediteranian was a marsh/swampland. If the Spinx was created before the ancient egyptians it was most likely created by the people who lived in this Jungle. Atlantians? maybe

In Central america they have found many small figurines of golden airplanes and the like. i also wonder if the Atlantis civilization being so advanced could travel by air also. The more i Read about it the more i connect atlantis to other civilizations.

Atlantians? maybe I Agree that the Atlantis civilization could of survived where we do not or can not look. The ocean is deep. there are parts we as humans can not reach not even our submarines because the oceans pressure would destroy them. Yet there have been reports of USOs (Unidentified Submarine Objects) going below what human submarines can go. And The ocean covers 2/3 of the planet. So could they be there still. Hidden in plain sight whenever we go to the beach(we look at the sky to try to find them in space etc) but what if they never left Atlantis????

Here's one for you: My dad read a book on some mystery, but the author uses real information and theories to write his books. Anyways, he said that there's a possibility that before The Egyptians and cave men, there was one huge civilization with very advanced technology. But there civilization might have started to die and so they spread out around the earth along with their technology. There's also an Egyptian relief of a light bulb. So maybe they went to an island and called it Atlantis.
Or maybe Atlantis didn't completely fall beneath the ocean and it's really Venice. I don't know, and I'm just putting possibilities out there.

Yeah, I must admit i really don't give a damn about finding Atlantis. My question is "where did they go?"
There are clues, that I have heard and ran with, slowly turning them into my own.
There are pyramid-like structures all over the world, Central and South America, Africa, Asia....There are also myths that one can hear on two opposite sides of the world.
What if the Atlanteans got so pissed off at each other for their part in the destruction of their city, that they all floated in opposite directions and took the basic ideas of their culture with them?
Another thing is: Plato was crazy bored, so he started writing the ancient Greek equivalent of fan fiction for his gods.
