AIM LOG: Manda & _ p a o cx

Aah, it was nice sometimes living in a group... since it meant there were babysitters for your little ones whenever you wanted to perhaps run off for a bit and stretch your legs. Smiling faintly, Eisheth stretched muscles out, having just sprinted to a rise a little distance from where the group was currently staying. Her cousin was watching over her cubs for the moment, all of the young ones playing some game or other. Tail tip twitching a bit, the cheetah peered out over the landscape, seeing if there was perhaps anything interesting to see out there.

Joka had always been a fan of afternoon runs. Which was, more or less, a good thing - especially when there were others trying to catch and kill him. With narrowed eyes the large cheetah sprinted across the Savannah, never looking back to see if his assailants were still on his tail. He didn't think that hyenas would care that much about such a small meal.. at the time though, he shrugged off the idea that they'd get upset and stole the kill simply out of necessity. He was too lazy to hunt so it was that small pack's loss.

He could outrun them anyway.

At last Joka glance back, a huge smile spreading itself across his maw when he noticed that they weren't on his tail anymore. With a laugh he sprinted just a bit faster, relief washing over him as he closed his eyes for a second to revel in the moment. Which probably wasn't the best thing for him to do. As soon as he opened his eyes he saw, almost immediately before him, a female cheetah surveying the land. There was no way he'd stop in time, so his only chance was to call out..

"Hey! You!! Over there!! Get out of the way!!!!"

Eisheth jumped at the sudden voice, head twisting around and eyes going wide. What the... With a yelp, she jumped to one side, hoping that the charging male would miss her... somehow. "Watch where you're going!" she called out, a bit of irritation creeping into her tone. Really, what if one of the cubs had been with her!

As soon as she was safely out of the way Jo hit the brakes (so to speak), skidding to a stop a few feet ahead of where she'd previously been sitting. He didn't say anything, as he was too busy catching his breath, and when he finally did he lifted his head and gave her a sort of apologetic smile. "Sorry 'bout that," he said, "I was on the run from some canines and was looking back to see if they were still giving chase. I hadn't noticed you until it was too late." It wasn't the whole truth, but..well, it was better than letter her know that he got caught up in relaxing..

Ears pricked up a bit at that, and Eisheth frowned just slightly. Something she should perhaps warn the group about..? "What sort of canines?" she asked, tilting head at him a little. Introductions and politeness could come after she made sure there was no danger looming.

Jo dropped the smile he had on his maw and thought back to his little heist, absentmindedly starting to answer the question. "Hyenas, but..oh! They stopped chasing me already. At least, when I last looked, which was just a second ago, they were no where in sight. So it's nothign to be worried about, I probably lost them a long way's away back that way," and he pointed in the direction he'd come from. "I'm Joka, by the way. Jo for short. You are..?"

Eisheth relaxed at that, moving to sit down and stop looking around so much to see if anything else was coming. "Sorry if I sounded abrupt there... it's just that there's a small group with several young ones not far from here." She smiled faintly at the male. "I'm Eisheth... why were they chasing you?" she asked then, curious.

To tell the truth, or not...the latter seemed like a better idea. Jo examined Eisheth for only a second before assuming that she wouldn't be too happy to be in the company of a thief. "Ah, I might have said one too many things as I passed them by," he lied, his smile returning as he spoke. "They were poor sports so they started after me." He shrugged it off and lifted his gaze to have a look around. He couldn't see this small group she was talking about, so it was probably a bit farther than she made it sound. "Ah...little ones?" He raised a brow as he glanced back at her. "Yours?" It wasn't really his business, but it wasn't in his best interest to mess with a mated female..

"Some of them," Eisheth replied with a little purr. "Though their father is long gone," the cheetah added quickly. In truth, she rather thought this male's colors and markings were striking... in a nice sort of way. Not that she expected him to stick around long - males were like that. But there was always fun to be had here and there, and perhaps he might come back a time or two...

Jo gave a little chuckle when she added on that snippet about their father. "I see," he started, then gave a sigh. "Well how young are they?" He was never too good with small talk, but a mother was also not the type he'd play around with either. They always had their kids in mind, it was hard to have fun. He wasn't the type to commit anyway, and mothers (by his past experience) were never looking to just spend one night with a vagabond. They usually wanted something more.. "And how many are yours?"

Eisheth smiled faintly... ah, one who wanted no commitment of any sort. Typical male. But that was all right, she didn't really mind much. "Fairly young still... my cousin is watching over my five for the moment..." Which was how she'd been able to get all the way out here. She'd never have made it with cubs toddling after her.

"F..five?" he stuttered, almost disbelievingly. Jo's smile faltered as he gave a nervous laugh. "That seems like quite the handful, and I would know. My parents had six of us to deal with and they had a pretty tough time, especially with me in tow." The male cleared his throat (a habit to calm his nerves) as he turned his gaze to the horizon. "That's probably why you had to sneak off for a bit though, huh?" he then asked, his old smile coming back. "Not that I don't like cubs, but five seems like a lot.."

"Yes, five," Eisheth replied with a low chuckle. "It's really not so much work when you have others to help out," she pointed out thought with a little purr. He was right on the sneaking away part, though, and she nodded. "It is nice to get away sometimes, though I do love them all..."

"I guess so.." was all he could really say. Being inexperienced with cubs (though with all girls he's been with he probably has a few of his own genes running amuck) didn't exactly with keeping the conversation going. "I remember when my mom used to go missing on occasion. It was probably to re-gather her sanity for our sakes." Jo smiled and shrugged. "I don't blame you though, but it isn't something that I've ever had to worry about. I'm 'away' from everything a lot of the time, as you've probably already guessed."

Eisheth smiled slightly at that, and nodded. "I had... but it's not a bad thing. Just.. the way that you are, I suppose." She didn't blame him, since things were much easier when one didn't worry about forcing all others to follow your own codes of morals and honor. She would never leave cubs of her own... but then, she was also a female, and didn't think the same way he did, probably.

This girl seemed a little different, at least by Jo's standards. Any other female he'd run into probably would've chastised him on the spot (despite barely knowing him) for being irresponsible. He was glad to have found someone who didn't seem to think badly of him. "Thanks," was all he could really think to say. "Though I think if I ever stuck around long enough to find out that I had cubs of my own I might've turned out differently. But who knows.." With that he gave a shrug and stood, smiling down at Eisheth. "Maybe at some point, I'll have that part of my life figured out. But for now, I kinda like being this way."

She nodded at that, not ever having been one to judge others for how they wanted to live their lives. "Maybe so ... but at this point, you really can't know. So who am I to tell you how to think or feel?" She smiled at him and also stood. "I should get back to my own little ones though... perhaps I'll see you again sometime?"

Jo grinned and nodded. "This was...different, to say the least. So I'll probably try and track you down if that's what it'd take to run into you again." With that he turned and started walking in the direction he'd been going earlier before his little run-in. It was true, that he'd never just talked to a girl before.. usually he'd quickly lose interest and excuse himself right away. But this was just a little different, somehow. Joka turned back and gave one last smile. "I'll see you around then," and he was off on another sprint. No doubt about to look for his next meal..
