The Arran are very hospitable to their kind visitors. This is one of the newest and nicely built structures among the trees. It's essentially a large tree house, designed for those who are...taller than the arrans to live comfortably.

Raquel was completely awestruck by the beauty tat surrounded them in their, quite literally, little corner of paradise. It seemed that the Arran's had an arranged house for any non Arran Visitors. That is, judging by the size and furnishings withing. it was a picture perfect tropical bungalow. There were a few bedrooms, hard to tell how many from the little 'living room' like area they were in. It was all primarily bamboo with a few rare things like glass on one or two smaller windows. Otherwise it was mostly open, without taking away from the quiet privacy. The thing that caught Raquel's eye, besides the hanging gauze like material that draped various areas from the ceiling ,was the view. There was a large porch on one end, where a large hammock for two sat, with a breath taking view of the ocean. What interested her more was a small ladder leading up to the roof of the large structure, where in her mind, seemed like a perfect place to star gaze. "It's....wow...." Raquel breathed, almost afraid to take a step inside the lavish accommodations.

Richard was also impressed with the place they were given to stay. On his last visit, he had stayed in a small hut with four other Arran's. "They must of built this place after Enty destroyed it all..." He smirked. Enty, who had followed them begrudgingly, hit him in the knee, though he wouldn't admit how nice ti was either.

Lorey floated about the place, inspecting various decorations and the gauze-like material hanging here and there. She had noticed some of the larger insects flying about, and guessed that was what they were for. Bugs bothered her... especially large spiders. Those just made her clam up.

Her steps led her into a bedroom, which she saw held a comfortable bed, upon which was her nightgown. She guessed in the other room would be the shirt they took from Raquel.
"Thank you for bringing us here," Lorey called out to Richard and Enty. Without them, they never would have made it to this treasure in the skies. "Are we all sleeping now? I know I'm a bit tired after all that welcoming."

Damian looked to Raquel, already knowing she wasn't very sleepy.
"Well, we may explore a little bit. I know I am still a bit awake after the excitement..."
Silver eyes looked to Raquel for agreement, not wanting to direct them anywhere she did not want to be.

Richard smiled. He had sort of hoped to have a chance to fall asleep next to Lorey once more, but didn't say anything directly about it for fear she'd find him a bit cheeky. "How about I tuck you in?" he smiled a bit wider, hoping he would t least be allowed to do that much. Sometimes he felt like he smothered Lorey and wanted to avoid causing her any annoyance or awkwardness at all...he just loved her so much it was hard not to be with her.

Raquel nodded to Damian, not really sure of what she wanted to do. "I think I'd like to just look around myself." she said with a small smile, though never let her hand leave Damian's. "Um...D-do you want to check out the view?" She asked, a little nervously, hoping to get some alone time with him before too long.

Richard shot Damian a look from behind Raquel mouthing: "Be careful" with a stern stare to match.

Lorey gave a sweet little smile before a shy nod.
"Sure... you can tuck me in and make sure the bugs don't eat me." Though, she did notice Richard's silent words to Damian, and had to wonder just what he was warning him about...

Damian, though, didn't really care. He thought Richard was warning him about being a victim of murder or some such nonsense, replying to the warning with a curt little nod and nothing more.
"Lead the way... whatever you wish to see, I'll escort you." And as a gentleman, he extended his arm.
Though the real thing he had to warn himself was his emotions running high. Maybe it was the heat, or the smell of the flowers in her hair, but there would have to be some kind of clever excuse devised when sleep came over her, because he was quite sure he could not trust himself in the same bed, let alone the same room.

Richard sighed but focused his attention on Lorey. "Of course..." He smiled, leading her off to one of the bedrooms to help her get settled in nicely.

Raquel took his arm, though noticed a small change in the air, as well as him. "You're tense...What's wrong?" She asked, heading towards the little extended porch that looked almsot like a separate gazebo off the house. She wanted to get a look at these beautiful stars once more before turning in, though if she could get some time with Damian at the same time, it was well worth it to her.

The bedroom was very nice, she thought... like a tropical version of her dream bedroom. After struggling with the gauze surrounding the bed, Lorey laid down, trying her best not to ruin the robe or flowers in her hair.
With Richard close by, she felt like a regular princess. But, she reminded herself, she wanted to know if he was alright.
"Richard," she started, with a question in her voice. "Is anything bothering you? You spend all this time taking care of me, and... I really don't feel like I've been taking good care of you. I just want to know."

Meanwhile, Damian flinched at being exposed. It was awkward, but somehow he felt like lying to her wasn't the best idea.
"Nothing is wrong," he answered truthfully. In the night, his slender frame looked even paler than normal, even more so in the moonlight as he looked out over the jungle. Silver eyes took it all in, before turning to Raquel. She was beautiful. Breathtaking, really. And she loved him, and he her...
"The journey, it has been... rough." That was true, too. "But you're beautiful, even after all of that."
A quick smile was flashed before his gaze was averted to their feet.

Richard cocked an eyebrow, letting himself inside the little tent himself, taking a seat on the edge of the bed. He looked rather silly, the gauziness falling over and around his face. but he did his best to focus on her. "What do you mean?" He asked shaking his head. "I'm happier than I've been in a long time...what could be wrong?" He leaned forward to kiss her gently.

Raquel furrowed her brow. She took his slender, pale face in her dainty hands, making him look at her. She said nothing but searched his silver pools for eyes, as if trying to see straight into his heart. "Damian..." She said softly. She frowned slightly, letting her eyes and hands drop. "You don't trust me either...do you?" She said, a bit solemnly as she walked past him, hugging her arms as she looked out over the jungle and ocean view herself.

Lorey kissed him sweetly, but the worry didn't leave her eyes.
"Being chased by an assassin who murdered your wife... It would take a toll on anyone, Richard."
Her eyes, even in the night, still held those little starpoints of light. In a moment, they were smiling again. "I have to worry about you, love."

And he somehow managed to mess everything up, even when he was trying not to.
"Raquel, I just don't trust myself." How glad he was that her back was turned, because the blush on his cheeks was quite impressive for a shameless Centurion. "You always cry and say how you've been used... you cannot blame me for guarding myself like this. You drive me mad sometimes with just a glance, and you don't even realize it..."
He sounded like such a lecher, he thought. But hadn't he been one?
PostPosted: Tue Apr 07, 2009 8:37 pm

Richard smiled easily, stroking her hair. He sudden;y felt a little off. Though Lorey was wonderful for caring. "I'm fine love...Just...need to think it over you know?" He answered honestly. He hadn't really had a moment of peace to himself to even wrap his mind around all of this yet.

"Oh.." Raquel's eyebrows raised. She had thought he still didnt trust her as a person...but it was really himself he wasnt sure about. She didn't really know what to say as a slight cool night breeze picked up. She swallowed a little, keeping her back turned. She turned her head slightly, furrowing her brow. "I'm....i'm sorry...I guess it's tools of the trade you know?" she tried to joke but it came out disgusting to her. "...I'll stop." She added, angry at herself all of a sudden. She began picking at the various braids in her hair, untieing them, letting them unravel around her face and other upbraided hair. She even took out some of the flowers as she just sat in silence, letting the wind carry them off into the horizon.

"Alright." And it was as simple as that. Lorey wouldn't pry, as she had learned to let things go with him in their last fight. When she felt like she had two feet to stand on, she would pursue his troubles, but then, in paradise, it would be alright to let him deal with his own demons.
Eyes drooping, and crickets chirping, Lorey felt ready to drift off. "I love you," she said, and she took his free hand in hers. "I love you so much. Thank you for caring for me when I was thrown out, for getting me new clothes, taking me dancing, giving me a roof over my head, loving me, taking me away from Veratia..." A little laugh escaped her while thinking of it all. He had done so much that it was hard to think of every detail.

It was discouraging how she drove her fingers through her hair, as if she was trying to destroy it all for some deep anger. Her words cooled him, instilling guilt and a shame he hadn't felt in a long while.
"They are tools of no trade. Just your beauty, Raquel. I'm quite sure you just standing there, or sleeping, or the way you laugh are no tools of anything. Just you." An awkward moment passed before Damian shuffled in his bare feet. "I am sorry. I'll leave if you'd like me to."

Richard held her hand for a long time, just sitting in the silence, taking in her words. After what felt like several minutes of just watching her angelic form sleep, he gingerly pulled his hand away, and covered her up with a light blanket. With a light kiss ot the forehead, he found himself wandering out to the small decking outside of her room. In the brisk moonlight, he found himself thinking deeper and deeper into their situation. After his thoughts got to a certain point, he unconsciously fished into his pockets, pulling out a pack of his Cigs. He lit one up, finding that he was strangely tense all over, a worried expression on his face. It bothered him for a slight moment that he was smoking unconsciously now, but ignore that fact as he inhaled the poisonous but soothing smoke.

"No!" She said quietly but firmly, turning quickly to look at him with wide, pleading eyes. "Please don't leave me..." She said softly. She knew he only meant the room, but her words held a deeper concern. She diverted her eyes, still fiddling with a lock of her hair. "You're all I have...quite literally..." She said, furrowing her brow once more as she studied a spot on the floor near them.

Damian nodded, understanding. Raquel may have been very sensitive about everything, but at least she wasn't too swift about throwing him out of their house and home.
He stood off to the side, just watching her. What would she do if he did turn his back and leave, if only the room, he wondered? What would she do if he grew angry with her, frustrated?
The risk was too great to take, or he would have found out.
Instead, Damian closed the distance between them with a few straight-backed steps, coming to a stop in front of her where he then knelt. It was something out of a fairy tale, he thought. The peasant kneeling to his queen.
"What would my lady have me do?" he asked as he took her hand in his. Somehow she was more beautiful looking down at him with that confused look upon her face.

She went from a confused look, to a teary smile. Her smile turned to laughter as her eyes watered and a few tears escaped. She pulled him to his feet, sinking into him, and wrapping her arms around him. "Don't let go...." Was all she could ask of him. He had done so much for her, and she was just so confused. Right now...things just seemed so awkward. It was as if they had gotten to a point with each other where they had to ask "What next? What now? Where do we go from here?" To which she had no answer to any of those... She wished Damian did, but she knew he was as at a loss as she was.

He laughed as well. It was with very few people he could laugh, but with Raquel, it came easily.
Arms painted with the strange mud held her tight and snug. He would be her barrier against the cool wind, and the world which seemed so bent on hurting her.
"You are... my everything," he whispered, before resting his face in the curve of her neck. "Please believe me. It will always be true."
