because i was surfing the gd when i came upon this topic mixed rewivs as photograhy is only a new thing and people are just trying to catch on to fabs to be popular...like devianart with peeps

psh it's been an art form since it first was invented, manymany moons ago.
it's only getting really popular recently because it's gotten so easy to get hold of a decent camera, and people just set them to macro and think that's art.
nono there's much more to it than that.
if i could be arsed finding a good example right now, i would.

..and the right to freedom of speech is about expression of personal opinion!!
This could be a really interesting topic/discussion!
personally I think the art of photography has been bastardised by. as lampoon said the availability of camera resources, but all it has produced is mediocre and unoriginal shots! But obviously its not how good the camera is that makes the fantastic shot its the holder.
I think alot more effort needs to be put into taking the photograph before it can be called art, it can't just be a quick wee snap snap thing because the piece has to say something more than just "ohhh this here is a close up of a flower it is pretty" Art means more than the obvious!
Honestly photography is not my favoured medium, and im more interested in pictures that capture moments in time rather than set ups and portraiture. I like the iconic and historical images but I don't know if they could be considered art or just historical source. Id swing more towards source but still something that I personally can take inspiration from!
(ive just spent 2 weeks looking over artistic method for interviews so sorry for the long winded speeech yo! 3nodding )

i feel horrible and dirty for talking about this when i'm one of the crappy photographers myself. gonk
but i'm just starting out, and i don't think i'm fantastic.
some historical images are source, and some have artistic merit too. it depends on the picture really. because it's not like just anyone can take pictures, there's an art to capturing the correct moment.
