It had been some time since the herd had left their old home and come to this new land. Though she had heard that they had originated here, it had been generations ago and she felt no kinship with the strange land. After wintering on the high slopes of the mountain range, Líadáin had finally ventured down to the first of the series of valleys some weeks ago where she had met the soquili named Saeran. Since then she had moved, not going any lower, but skirting round the craggy cliffs, seeking fresh grazing.
Her coat sill held the bulk that winter on the mountains had given it, hiding her slightly too-thin frame. Though the new grass had returned the shine to her fur at last, restoring much of her former appearance.
The early evening light slanted across the valley at a gentle angle, brining the last of the day’s fragile spring warmth before the chill of night set in. The mare, her pale coat gleaming in the soft glow, stood up the east end of the small valley. Eyes closed as she dozed gently. The occasional flick of one furry ear, or the movement of a slim leg as she shifted her weight, were the only indications she was aware of her surroundings.

Colds winds blew down from the steep icy cliffs and rustled the short furs of a gold freckled coat. A shiver ran through the owner of the coat, making him hesitant to step closer to the unmistakably cold landform. Night was setting in, promising to bring and even colder temperature the the small valley's air.
The large Cerynei males snorted, determined to get to the fresh, juicy grasses that grew at the base of the mountain due to the runoff from the ice that formed at the peak, besides, it's not like he'd have to go very far up.
Another wind blew up from behind him as he finally began his trek towards the base. His form was silhouetted due to the setting of the sun, and his mane blowing in the chilly night air made him look bigger. it was his only hope that he didn't scare off any other Ceyreni that might have actually traveled with the herd and stayed on the mountain, unlike him. He had not been close with the herd to start with, and was destined to watch from afar and had only known of the migration back to Soquili lands for such reason that he did watch. Now he just wanted to see and talk to another.
