Helios had been told who he was assigned to for his training though he hadn't really thought about it much till recently. He had been rather busy watching a female he had an odd curiosity about and then she beat him... no female (excluding his sister who was no longer a female but more of a 'thing') had ever beaten him in a fight and so it reminded him to go and find this female who was to train him.
Kali.
He had heard of her and seen her about. He was sure she wasn't suppose to be very nice but then surely that meant he would become a better fighter? Well he had to go and find her now. He had to beat Runya and the 'thing'. Also he could then beat Erebos in a fight as well, they were both well suited so if he could beat his brother that would be awesome!
He flicked his tail as he walked over the dunes. She was white, he remembered that. Why couldn't he find her?

Her tail twitched, the rattle of bone echoing eerily across the sands. She had taken an apprentice, an idea she had not objected to. With so many pathetic creatures beneath the guise of firekin, it was time to beat some of them into shape.
If an easy time was expected, there would only be disappointment. A harsh teacher even with her own children, she was brutal, unyielding, she demanded absolute obedience and nothing less than the greatest effort. Weakness, disobedience, it was punished, strength was rewarded. She did not demand or expect success on the first lesson (she was not unreasonable), but she did expect her student try, and she expected him to learn.
Dark talons flexed though the sands, eyes narrowed, she would not search him out, he would have to come to her, consider it, the first lesson. But she would not wait forever, she had other lessons to teach.

Helios had moved swiftly but rather slowly. He wasn't overly bothered about having a lesson but apparently everyone had to even if you were just going to be a hunter. Stupid lessons...
He groaned a little and then spotted the lioness with erm... what did she have on? He had seen her before but not with all that on. Maybe he had been lucky when he saw her? Who knows but he was sure that was her, he could see her markings and yes it looked like that was his teacher.
He moved towards her, he wasn't moving quickly but this time he wasn't walking slowly either. He moved a constant speed, always watching her. Something about her was well... a little scary but he didn't show any fear. He didn't show fear.
"Mahakali?" He spoke confidently but whether he did look confident was another thing.
"I am Helios, I have been assigned to you for training?" It was a fact what he had spoken but he knew what things were like around here. She might not have even been told yet!

"You are late, I suggest you not be so again."
Eyes narrowed beneath her ram skull, a twitch of her tail, flicking in the sand like a serpent. So this was him, her apprentice, she knew who he was, what he was, recognized those very distinct markings, how could she not. It was hardly a secret who his father was, but his grandfather, that was an entirely different matter.
A smirk touched her maw, would he live up to the name.
The expression had vanished an instant later, replaced by the hard gaze of a drill sergeant, unyielding, cold, her posture proud and strong. She would tolerate no childish behavior, no disrespect, he was her student, she the teacher, welcome to hell.
"You will report to me every other day at sunrise without fail, you will also be prepared to report for any special training I deem appropriate. You will arrive promptly and alertly, there will be no games, childishness, or goofing off during training. You will follow my instructions without question and without hesitation, I expect nothing less than perfection. And you will wipe that smug little grin off your face, do I make myself clear?"
You're in -my- army now, let's just see how well that blood flows in your veins.

He laughed.
Seriously... first he was late when she had not summoned him and now all these stupid rules? Who wouldn't laugh! Sunrise... nope couldn't do sunrise.. it was early. Too early. He had to sleep ya know! Geesh who did she think she was anyway?
"Can't do sunrise." He smirked at her, in the 'i am obviously being a pain' way. He didn't really want to have lessons and to have them every other day... was she trying to kill him or something? Stupid females. Seriously its like all females.. stupid.

Her own laughter, dark, chilling, malevolent, accented by menacing fangs. So he thought himself above the rules of training did he, she would see to that, the cocky little beast was in for a rude awakening.
"I do not recall giving you a choice in the matter, boy."
She emphasized the last word, not for his youth, but his inexperience. The cub was not so great as he thought he was, nor did he know what he thought he knew. Strength would not be found until one found and acknowledged their weakness, for if one thought they knew everything, they would never learn. And until he realized that, he was no soldier.
"You think you are a great fighter do you, think you are better than everyone else? Very well, prove it, show me what you can do, prove that you are not just a disgrace to the blood that flows in your veins."
A cruel smirk, her tail flicked with a snap.
"Words do not make strength, boy, only the weak have need for boasting."

Yes because he said all that.
"I think you are hearing things." He continued to stare at her, not really frightened by her. Then again he was rather stupid when it came to some things. Sometimes it was best to be frightened but right now he was being too stupid to realise that.
"I never said I was a good fighter. Most my age aren't!"

"Words need not be spoken to be heard."
A faint smirk, a twitch of her tail, her gaze cold, hard, unyielding. If he sought to anger her, to irritate her, he would find it a far more difficult task. if he thought he was going to change her mind or the rules she had set, he would find himself sadly disappointed.
Well, she had not expected an easy apprentice, nor would she have taken one, yet she would not accept defiance either. Her apprentice would do as she instructed, there would be no exceptions no matter how he protested. Cold, unyielding, her word was law.
"You belong to me, my apprentice, and you will follow as I command. Disobey, and you will not like the consequences."
There was a darkness in her tone, a warning.
"Unless of course, you wish to simply give up"

"Even if I wanted to give up it's not like I would be allowed..." He scowled at her as he spoke. Did she not know that everyone his age had to be apprenticed whether they liked it or not?
He sat down, he didn't say anything else for now, he was getting bored of all this talking. If she wasn't going to start teaching him soon then he might as well go and find someone else. He was sure this thing didn't mean having to talk lots, much more of actually having to do something. So he waited without saying anything else.

"It would be pointless to stop you if it was what you truly wanted, the consequences would be your own to bear."
Her eyes narrowed, burning like hellish fire beneath the skull, a twitch of her tail, reading the cub, watching for his reply. There were few things more infuriating than an unwilling student, one who gave up before they had even begun, or was too lazy or arrogant to bother, she would not waste her time on such a creature.
The silence only last a moment, though it may have seemed longer, satisfied, she spoke at last.
"Very well. Follow me."
It was a command, her voice did not invite question or complaint. She gave him no time to do so, turning to walk across the sands, her pace steady, it was his task to keep up.
She would lead him across the sands away from the center of the pride, away from distraction or disturbance, from childish games and those who would foolishly try to interfere. There she would train him, and there he would show her if he truly was a grandchild of War.

Helios kept quiet not answering or talking back at his new teacher for the whole session. He had followed her out away from most of the lions and there she had taught him. There was lots of talking which bored him but he still listened as it was important. She then showed him things that would help you in a fight, where to attack, how to hold your body.
He was happy when he left her. He was going to find Runya, she wouldn't beat him now. He was going to be the best soldier there ever was! He would have more training again at sunrise, it was a stupid time but at least it would be cooler, that would be a good thing.
He let out a soft sigh and ran home, he was hungry.
