He had trudged on in silence, his eyes squinted as he tried to see the path ahead of him, trying to remember the way back. It was difficult, remembering these things. At first it would seem clear and then he'd stop, glance around, and wonder where on earth he was. Then, like magic, the thread would return and he'd be off again.

He didn't talk to his companion, probably out of guilt and a feeling of not knowing what to say. He knew he had upset her and yet - for his own selfish reasons - he was doing nothing to make it better.

First thing was first, he had to get the rainbow-winged one to fix what she had done.

And then he came across a path he knew and he stopped, lifting his head to scent the air. "This way." His voice was gruff and dry. He felt odd.

And as he drew nearer to where the Goddess was, a faint buzzing started in his head, like an itch he couldn't reach. He shook his head fiercely but the sound continued - faint but ever present.

A few moments later and she came into view, crumpled on the ground just as he had left her. She had a sandy-coloured pelt, tipped white at her muzzle and toes. Her rainbow-coloured wings sprawled across the grass, somewhat limp and dull. Certainly not as dazzling as he had remembered them.

"There. That's her." He growled.

Illena said nothing as she followed him, she couldn't trust herself to say anything. No, she was worried what whatever she might say to her companion might only upset him or worse, her. She was hurt by the way he had treated her but also knew, by the way he was acting, that he wouldn't do anything to fix it. So she did the only thing she could think of doing, staying quiet. It was uncomfortable and she didn't like it. Granted she had never been one to say much but now, now she felt like she needed to say something, to say anything.

But she didn't.

When he spoke to her she only nodded biting down on her lip wanting to tell him to stop, that this wasn't okay. That he needed to tell her what was wrong, why he had done this in the first place. But she didn't want him upset with her so she kept her mouth shut and followed. Only when they actually found the goddess did she speak. "What happened?"

He shrugged, "dunno."

He paused, looking at her, almost afraid of going near, afraid of what might happen when he did. Suddenly he wanted to turn and back off, to run away and never go near her. To make things worse that buzzing had increased and he shook his head again, trying to drown it out.

Biting back his fear, he moved towards her again, lifting a paw to nudge her wing.

Nothing.

"Maybe she's dead." But even as he spoke he saw the slow rise and fall of her sides and knew she was simply unconscious...sleeping maybe. "I'm going to wake her." And, with a growl he grabbed her by the scruff and shook her hard.

The Goddess groaned and opened her eyes - one orange, one purple, and lifted her head. A split second later and she realised what was happening. Someone was trying to kill her!!

She screamed, and flailed, tearing herself free and screaming again at the pain of the stupid action. Her wings twisted and tripped her up as she fought to get away.

~You better not even think about running away~

What, who was that? Who was that in her head? That wasn't Roko or Pelli. It wasn't her! She groaned, the groan turning into a whimper, and she placed a paw to her head, shaking it slowly.

Illena inched forward curious about the goddess and what had happened to put her in an unconcious state. She also wanted to be sure that the female was okay, that she wasn't actually dead, that no harm had really come to her. "Cassian, I'm not sure that's a good..." It was too late he had already started to wake her and it resulted in the reaction she had expected. He had scared her.

"It's alright! Please!" She called out stepping towards the startled goddess. "We don't want to hurt you," she spoke calmly trying to be the voice of reason, the one that would handle the situation. "I'm sorry that he startled you, we just want your help." She didn't care that this wasn't her problem to deal with, Cassian was hurt in some way and she just wanted to fix it all.

"Can you fix whatever you did before?"

Cassian growled, stepping towards her. "You better not even think of running away." He paused and glanced Illena as she came forward, taking control of the situation.

Yes, fine. Let Illena talk. He could keep himself occupied with makign sure she didn't get away.

He took another step and pinned her tail, curling back a lip to reveal a few of the teeth in his maw. "Listen to her." He snapped suddenly, when it seemed the goddess wasn't concentrating.

She wavered as Cassian spoke the words she'd heard in her head only a while before. What was going on? Why did she feel so awful? Why could she hear that voice....that voice that was like this male's here.

She was sagging slightly when the male's voice shook her and immediately she switched her bi-coloured eyes to the female. Pale in the light. Soft. Easy to look at.

"Hurt us?" She whispered, her voice quivering. "Fix? Fix what?"

And then Cassian's thoughts were in her head again, distracting her attention. "Stop that! It's too loud! Too loud! Let go of me!" She tried pulling her tail free, but her physical strength quailed in comparison. Tears worked their way into her eyes.

"We don't know what you are talking about!"

Illena sighed at the harshness of her companion's words. "Right now force isn't needed." She mumbled softly, more to herself than to him. She let her ruby colored eyes study the winged female. "My friend told me that he came to you to get something fixed," she paused looking over at him. "I don't know what he wanted fixed but he said something went wrong." She looked back over to Roko. "Maybe if you concentrate you'll remember what you were trying to fix..." Her voice trailed off as she struggled to keep her emotions in check. If she didn't keep her cool she'd freak out the other female and Cassian...well he might act irrationally and end up hurting all three of them.

"It's alright, it's alright." She spoke softly stepping closer to the goddess only wanting to comfort her. Lightly she touched her with her paw. She smiled softly before looking at Cassian. "Let her go, please. I know you don't want her to get away but it's clear that you are hurting her in some way." She inhaled deeply. "I'll fix everything okay?"

She turned her attention back to Roko. "You aren't in any trouble at all I promise, I just want things to go back to the way they were that's all."

That buzzing was getting infuriating now. It was acting on his emotions and fuelling that anger, but luckily, he thought enough of Illena by now to listen and to trust her somewhat. Slowly, he released the Goddess and took a step back, calming himself with a breath.

And then he heard something. Words. Words streaming so fast over one another it was as if there were two voices at once, interrupting, overlapping, whirling in a mass of confusion. These words, or thoughts, streamed through him, stealing his own. Smothering his own.

He groaned and shook his head, but they did not quiet.

~I don't know what they're talking about~

His head snapped up. That voice. He did not that voice...or...voices... It was her. That Goddess!

He growled. "Get out of my head!! Do you hear me? Get out!"

Comforted slightly by Illena's tone - if not the words - the Goddes leaned forwards, clutching at the other female as if she were her mother. She sniffled, rubbing her face to rid it of tears. At least the mean lion had let go of her now.

"Make him stop, Mummy." She whispered. "Make him stop now."

Her body tensed and then Cassian was shouting again. It were those words that brought the whole, horrible reality crashing down all around her. She remembered what she had done and knew that she couldn't fix it.

"We can't. We can't! Please, don't hurtses us! Please!"

"Shhhh, shhh," Illena cooed letting herself be clung to by the obviously frightened girl. She patted her head lightly with her paw and closed her eyes. "Calm down dear." She mumbled softly into the other's ear. When Cassian shouted her eyes fluttered open and she glanced over at him. "Cassian!" She sighed and shook her head. Didn't he understand that he was making the situation worse? "Please, you need to calm down just as much as she does, you aren't helping anything right now," she stated as calmly as she could manage.

Then Roko began talking and she fell quiet needing to listen. "I won't hurt you, I promise. I won't let him hurt you either." Illena swallowed dryily at the words. She claimed she couldn't fix things, this was not good. It would upset her companion. "Are you sure? Do you know of someone who could?"

Cassian could not believe what he was hearing. She couldn't fix it? He was going to stay mad forever? Hearing her voices in his head, hearing the madness that lay there. The confusion.

He couldn't stand it!

"Listen. You have to fix it. You did this. Who else in the world could possibly make sense of your idiocy?" He snarled. "Illena? What are you doing? Taking her side?" There was a stab of hurt in his heart. Why? Did she hate him so much now? All because he wanted to make himself whole? To stop being so dependant on her?

He moved forward, intent on pinning the Goddess again, not trusting that she wouldn't run away. But he couldn't move. He was frozen, and suddenly he was being knocked backwards against the ground. He tried to stand but couldn't. He slumped against the grass, growling.

She hadn't wanted to do it, but the lion hadn't left her with much choice. Either she knocked him away with her power or he'd get close again. Might even hurt Mummy! She couldn't have that!

"We didn't mean to do that." She burst into tears again, shaking. "He was going to hurtses us, Mummy. Couldn't let that happen!"

She blinked her bi-coloured eyes and looked into that gentle grey face. Koya? Was that Koya? "Mummy Koya?" She whispered, remembering her adoptive mother from so long ago. Oh, she never thought she'd see her again! "Maybe there might be someone who can, Mummy. We can findses her. We can."

She didn't like how the situation was, she was finding it difficult to stay neutral without upsetting either of them. Unfortunately for her it became clear that she was already too late to stop either of him from thinking she had turned on him. "No! It's not like that Cassian," she told him looking hurt by his words. "I'm just trying to stop you from being irrational, from hurting her or even me without thinking!" How was she supposed to make him understand when he wasn't even sure of anything?

When he started forward alarm danced through her features and she let go of the goddess to move before her, trying to protect her. She didn't want to be hurt but she didn't want the other female to be hurt even more. "Please Cassian!" Then he was thrown back and she instantly moved forward concerned. Roko spoke to her and she looked back. "It's okay, I understand but neither of you have to hurt each other." She replied calm before she heard on one who could help. "Do you? Can you? I would like that so very, very much!"

He could be fixed! Things would be normal again.

He didn't get up.

It wasn't that he couldn't. He just didn't want to. If he got up then he'd be forced to look at that Goddess again, forced to act upon his anger again. He heard Illena but didn't really absorb any of what she was saying. All he knew was that the future looked bleak.

Broken eyes. Broken mind.

How could things get any worse?

He felt the prickle of tears in his eyes but he refused to shed them, turning his head away so that none could know of his despair.
