I have a personal motive behind this one; My mother has been sick with something for about a month and a half. Since neither of us knows what's wrong, we both think it might be (but I especially) cancer. She's had it before, but it went away, and again-but it might be coming it back. Although she seems better, I'm still worried. Considering I don't feel like losing one of the two family members I actually care about, and the other one's my dog, and he's got cancer for sure.
So, my question to you is this:
Should Stem-Cell Research be allowed or not?
My verdict? Go and do it. But that's just my opinion.

I'm for it. If it can save lives and not take others, why not do it? Catholics oppose it because it is considered a loss of life for them. However, since stem cells involve using sperm cells to help cure diseases, can it not be in a way similar to masturbation? If the Catholic Church wants to stop something, try (and fail) to stop masturbation. At least that never and can never save any human lives.

I'm Catholic and I'm for it. It's not because I want to go against my religion, it's just that...well, I'd feel sorry for God if he had to take care of many more that will learn so many bad things and become ones against him. After all, the generations of 1992 and below...seem really, REALLY iffy in the head. Most of them, anyways, not all of them. So...to hell with the next generation of s**t-dips that we may have because of what WE teach.
Plus, we really need to limit Earth's population. It's getting waaaay too big to the point where we'll tear this world apart.

Stem cells can be taken from: Fat, Sperm, Unborns (You get the most from these, although this ties into abortion and I don't think that's a good thing to talk about) and there's another, but I can't remember.
Fat, well, it's really quite simple, they pretty much give you liposuction and you can potentially save hundreds of lives. It's a win win, if you're that concerned about your appearance.
Sperm would be a lot easier to produce, but since it only comes from one gender, that may raise a few problems.
Unborns carry the largest stem cell to size ratio due to the fact that they're still developing. But, considering that they need to be aborted in order to be experimented on, it gets involved with Abortion.

Seriously, though, I bet God is upset with the lot of us...so why make more spawn that might suffer...or even destroy this world? That seems so...weird to me. I don't know, maybe I just don't care.

It doesn't matter anyways, though, scientifically, because men can always create more sperm as long they are healthy. However, the problem is the supposed moral outcry it will create.

One of the best places, in my opinion, to get stem cells from is from the umbilical cord, placenta, and the birth sac of a child. Seriously, what are you going to do with the stuff that is more useful? The cells haven't specialized into anything, and therefore and still true stem cells.
Whatever. Either way, I don't see a true problem with it, seeing as all of the things it supposedly has the potential to cure or help treat.

The reason that people don't like stem cell research is probably because they think the ONLY way to get them is from unborn fetuses. And I did to, until now >.> we must continue the research...
and yes, rape is bad.

I'm all for Stem cell research... hell... I'll donate fat and the medical trash that comes with the baby I have just as soon as I am married and have a kid!!
