here are some sites that give info about the Easter Bunny.
In a nutshell, it's a fertility symbol from way back before Christ. "Getting busy like rabbits", indeed.
Australia also has it's own version, known as the "Easter Bilby". This was because of the fact that wild rabbits are pests unnatural to the environment there. Sometime in the past a movement popped up there to replace "Bunny" with "Bilby", due to the aforementioned fact and the fact that the latter animal is endangered, with only 600 in the wild apparently, and they somewhat resemble rabbits. So, yeah. You're more likely to see Bilby stuff than Bunny stuff there. XD
