I was kind of dissapointed after FFX, since I started on FF9 and worked my way backwards to FF7. When FFX-2 was coming out, I was so thrilled. I got it, and I couldn't stand it. I didn't like the new Battle system, the plot sucked because there basically was only a few pieces of nothing thrown at you every hour or so, the characters were awful, and the girls wore practically nothing! If it was supposed to be the first FF directed to girls(which is what I heard), then why is showing us this? XII is supposed to be taken under new management, so I'm wondering what that's going to be like. If you liked Final Fantasy X-2, please state your opinions. I want to hear what you guys thought of it.

Ive been a loyal fan since FF3SNES. I enjoyed FFX, and loved X2. It was a costume designers wet dream. I thought the unique play on the job system, which stems back to the very first FF's, was ingenius. Having to collect the different costumes for different jobs. The music was a little too pop-y. And the girls, save Paine, were very -girly-. But I thought, overall, it was a -fun- game.
Visually speaking, they gave me more of the beautiful world of FFX, which was amazing to behold. I loved every costume design, the colors, the asymetry, the detail. And it was just fun to revisit a world I had allready fallen in love with. The story, well, I cant remember all too much, I dont even think I beat it, so I cant tell you if she ever found Tidus. But I would be interested in getting all of the FMV's.
Starting with 9 may have left you a little more open to enjoying 3. I suggest if you have an SNES, get yourself a copy of 3. If you have a PS, or PS2(obviously you do) then get FF Anthologies and play 6(same game), its the most amazing journey Square has ever created... In my very own personal opinion that is. wink

I enjoyed X-2, though it's definitely not considered a favorite. ^^; It's still an enjoyable experience, and as Celes says, so many great costumes! (I love to design. ^.^ )
It was just a really fun game, and I doubt very much that it was supposed to be taken as seriously as the others.
I look at it this way, Squenix has churned out over 10 games bearing the same name and very similar elements. I mean really it all just boils down to: Big nasty tries do destroy the world, motley crew must quest to save it.
Lather, rinse, and repeat.
In my opinion, its great that they're trying different things. This will produce hits and misses, but in the long run it's worthwhile.
I too heard the rumors of it being the first one directed towards girls, but I think it was just that; a rumor. The main reason people were describing it as such would most likely be because this is the first FF to have a female as the true lead (and not just the love interest) since III/VI. (Sure the boys might be kinda androgenous, but they're still definitely boys. XD )
Anyhoo, that's my thought on it. I'm glad I bought it. 3nodding
And yeah, I'm going to have to recommend FF III/VI as well. If you pop in V, you'll find the origin of the changing outfits too. wink
My personal favorite will most likely always be VIII, and while a lot of people will think I'm f***ing nuts because of it, there's still a lot to love there.
Oh yeah, and XII will bring quite a few new features with it. The battles have been revamped again, and the director of this one is the same one who is responsible for Final Fantasy Tactics (and takes place in the same world of Ivalice), so there's a lot to look forward to. ^.^
Oh yeah, wasn't Tetsuya Nomura behind X-2? I can't remember. Anyhoo, if he was, that makes sense about the characters having all these crazy outfits and such and basically just running around showing them off. He's a designer. ^.^

I loved them all. I didn't like the skimpy outfits so on and so forth but I got over it. I was too preoccupid(sp?) with the graphics and sound to really care about the plot.
Other then that the others have been great. But to save myself from explaination I agree with Seldaara. 3nodding

I enjoyed the game. True, it was mostly 3 girls in skimpy clothings, but I did like the story and the gameplay. I found myself spending hours on leveling up when at the end...it really isn't necessary. I beat the last boss at level 60. The end was good. You have to press X though after you beat him and when you are on the Farplane Grove thing to get the real good ending. I finished the game 91%. I forgot one thing and lost 9 percentage points....which really suck cause I was really into it. My favorite would have to be between VIII and IX...just because of the story and gameplay. But anywho...That's my opinion.

Well I'm glad you guys liked it. I never care too much about graphics. I loved the whole Lenne/Shuyin thing, but it seemed all over the place to me. I like having just one destination that you go to, like in FF9. I'm more into darker games, so it also wasn't for me in that way either. I guess I just got my hopes up to high because it was from the Final Fantasy series. I pictured it as something it could not be.

wasn't too hot for FFX believe it or not.. the eaon thing was a bit interesting. ffx-2 did introduce more to different areas of ffx that weren't explored in depth before. with no summons or guardians, it was a bit off from what I was used to. the classic job system set-up was classic. most of what ffx-2 was was just a test to see how a ff-game sequel would sell, and I think as a test, it went well. now we have advent children, dirge of cerebus, and.. s**t, there was another one but I forgot it.. but we have those to look forward to

When I talked to Ichiro Otobe, the president of Square Enix, if I do say so myself, haha. */cheese* I asked him about before crisis being brought to the states in the form of cell phone games, and he said it was dependent on the technology. When I asked him if it would be ported to a handheld system, he grinned and said he couldnt disclose that information. WOO!

Nice!
Yeah. . . I've heard of BC coming stateside. . . but since our phones are so pathetic compared to the ones in Japan, I think the only option is to put it on handheld. What better way to get the PSP to sell? ^.~
I want Cloud's phone (in Advent Children). . . that's hot. It'll probably make it's way here like 4 years later. sweatdrop

i liked FFX-2 actually sweatdrop , the battle system was annoying at first but it was a nice change to have something different then stand get hit , stand hit back ......kindoff annoying you cant dodge , what really annoyed me though was all the new status changes your characters can get from enemies ....like poisen ....and crap stare , and then all the new items and the events , i just went to the hotspots and barely got by , i had no idea the smaller events served any purpose ...ha , but then i learned along the way and went to them . Im no longer playing the game , but curently on ch 5 i think....been awile since ive played it . FF9 was good FFX was good in my opinion... FF7 was hot ! and thats all ive played for now
i really cant stand some of the old graphics ....but ah well xd , if the game has a good story line / plot and all then its fine with me wink heart
