Is there a name/genre for the steampunk equivalent of the American Revolution?

I only bring it up because I've been drawing American rebels running about with laser muskets.

Cool idea. Sort of clockpunk-ish, but it sounds like you're taking the 18th century anachronism thing in a whole new direction. You may have invented a genre!

Okay Bad Example

do you mean like when America was founded, the Boston tea party and all that jazz or the civil war?

I can't say as I've ever seen the American Revolution approached from a steampunk point of view. Sounds interesting!

sweatdrop Gearfish said the American Revolution, so it'd be when the colonies were fighting the Brits for independence. The American Civil War is quite a bit later.

So it doesn't exist yet, for the most part.

Well, spiffy. Maybe I'll write something about it.

Sounds kinda cool. I don't know how well it would work, but that depends on how creative you are. If you can find a way to make it work, more power to you.

Yays for subgenres of subgenres! Try making some wiki trees first to see if theres anything similiar, just for the hey of it.

Clockpunk is essentially the same as SteamPunk, I think, although most people affirm a much greater degree of tech to damn near everything.

Of course, now that I think about it, steam power wouldn't be invented for awhile yet. Perhaps this isn't as good an idea as I originally thought.
