It had finally occurred to Seth that when trying to look for a job, despite the people in the strange part of the city he lived in generally didn't seem to have a problem with him, it probably wasn't the best place to try and get a job. Considering the Cafés, it was defiantly in his interest to try somewhere more normal.

Seth attempted to dress like a normal mortal might have been a factor too. Maybe the hoodie he was wearing wasn't helping either. Ridiculously long hair for a guy and wearing a hood inside didn't exactly make one look trustworthy, or very employable for that matter.

Still, with his lack of knowledge of how mortals normally searched for jobs, he found himself wondering the streets of Middling, simply asking for jobs form whoever might help.

Quinn was exhausted.

He had missed two days of work because of his sickness, and was now having to work twice as hard to catch up. His boss was not a very nice person; if you weren't dead, he wanted you to show up for work. Quinn didn't, so he was being punished.

Quinn frowned and adjusted one of the bags hanging from his shoulder. He slid it down slowly into his hand, and set it on the porch of a house in Middling, banging on the door and walking away. He turned around, and started heading back to the shop. His other three deliveries were on a different route.

How would probably be more enthusiastic for his job if he was really getting paid for it. As it was right now, he was paying off the debt he owed for crashing around randomly through the store in Vale's body, which was not a smart idea, in hindsight.

He had gone back to wearing no shirt; the slight embarrassment of his scars was nothing compared to the awkwardness of having actual clothes on. He liked the freedom of a bare torso.

He didn't like that his hair had freedom, however. Without his beanie, the slightest gust of wind sent it blowing everywhere.
This was not his favorite.

Bored of walking, and ready to get the day's deliveries over with, he decided to run. One of the bags had eggs in them, bu tthey'd be fine. Serves those lazy people right for not just going to the supermarket to buy their own eggs. He bolted around a corner quicker than he should have, and found himself running face-first into a boy in a hoodie. He fell backwards, and heard the sound of eggs crunch as all of his bags flew off.

"Well, there's another day of work I'll have to pay off..."

Hardly expecting anyone to bolt out in front of him, and his already weak frame Seth was easily thrown backwards onto the sidewalk.

There was a distinctly out of place sound of wings fluttering as Seth's hood fell back aswell, his headwings popping out from the hood and his carefully combed hair which admittedly didn't conceal them well enough. The stupid things quite clearly dropped a few feathers as they beat the air fruitlessly in their knee jerk reaction to the sudden shove. They always did seem to have a slight mind of their own.

With frantic energy quite unlike him his tugged the hood back on, only to end up throwing a lot of his dark locks over his face. There's no way people watching hadn't noticed.

He looked over at the kid who'd knocked him over who was also sharing his fate of a sore backside. He thought he was in the normal people part of the city.

"Owww.." Quinn rubbed at his butt as he stood up, as if prodding it enough would alleviate the pain. He looked at teh boy he had knocked down, and then looked at the feathers that had fallen to the pavement. They were dark-- too dark to be from his own hair. And he was pretty sure he had heard fluttering noises as they fell.

"Watch where you're going! You could have killed me! Loser." Quinn knew it was his fault, but was trying to distract from that fact while he figured out who this boy was. He stretched up in the air, turning slightly to show off his lean, gymnast's torso.

"And you made me lose all my groceries! That's a whole 'nother day of work for me, you know that? Are you high or something?" Quinn sighed. "I guess I'll just have to live. I'm Quinn. You are?"

Seth rather awkwardly fumbled back to his feet, having to push himself up slowly, seemingly being barely able to lift himself up from the floor. He groaned as he stretched his back out, maybe if he acted like nothing out of the ordinary had happened the guy wouldn't suspect a thing.

His sleepy aura projected a little, people weren't often inclined to fight if they where sleepy. "You bumped into me" Not really sounding angry about it, just maybe subtlety annoyed.

"Maybe I could help?" He shrugged, he was looking for work, anything would help at this stage.

"Seth" He said, very as a matter of factly. Even he thought Quinn's introduction a bit odd there.

Quinn frowned. "Details, details. Everything's still ruined. Well, I'm not gonna go back to work, now, but you can help get this stuff into a trashcan." He looked around for a big one, and dragged it out to the side of the road, bending down to pick up some of the groceries, and tossing them in the can.

Quinn yawned. That was weird; he had slept just fine the night before.

"Seth, huh? That's a nice name. I haven't seen you around middling, before. Did you just move here, or what?" He picked up the egg carton and opened it, wrinkling his nose at the gooey mess, and tossing it in the trash. He hated cleaning things up.

"And take off you're hood. It isn't raining. That style is so tacky!" He reached over and pushed off the other boy's hood, blinking quietly when he saw what was on the boy's head.

Wings!
He's definitely a godling, then.

Quinn furrowed his brow, looking for something to say. He crossed his arms and stared quietly at the boy.

"Well...You have nice hair," he offered.

It was official, Seth really was a magnet for all the weirdos in the city. Between people with scales and this guy he must have set some kind of record or something.

Seth moved some of the stuff Quinn had dropped, trying to move it with touching it as little as possible. "Sort of" he said bluntly, not really wanted to dwell on the subject.

"Wai-" He cut off, unable to react in time his headwings, revelling in their freedom from his hood unfolded themselves for a moment.

"...Thanks" He muttered after an awkward silence, eventually they both knew who the other was without exchanging a word on the matter.

Quinn hated silences. Especially awkward ones. He was also bored. "So. What can you do?" He realized the boy might not get what he meant. "Like, super-power wise? I can do this!" He pointed his finger in the air, and a very tiny star appeared, emanating all different colors of light in all directions.

"What about you?"

Quinn...Do you think, perhaps, it might be the time to get serious about the game?
What do you mean?
This kid doesn't look that tough. Maybe...
You want me to get into a fight with some random kid on the street?
Well, it might be a good idea to--
I get what you mean, I guess. We'll see.

"Well, that's all of the trash. Let's go on a walk, new friend! Down this alley. I know that sounds creepy, but I have some art down here I'd like to show you." He gestured towards the direction I meant.

You have no art on that alley, Quinn.
Hey. It's YOUR plan. Don't question the way I carry it out!

Rainbows counted as superpowers now? He wasn't very impressed, and his next to permanent expression would have shown it had he not kept it on in all other situations.

"Not like that..." he didn't elaborate. In retrospect, Seth was sort of glad his powers did have any obvious visual clues to him using them, it'd be counter productive if they did.

"No thanks" He moved off from Quinn, immediately suspicious. Even he was wise to what he was getting at. Now he was starting to worry he didn't have his sand on him.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 04, 2009 6:45 pm

Quinn frowned. "You don't talk much, do you?" The godling sighed, and shrugged. "Fine, fine, if you're not into art..." Quinn stuffed his hands in his pockets and pursed his lips, trying to think of something to do.

"Nothing interesting ever happens in middling. Do you have any ideas?" Quinn glanced down the alley, and saw a cat scamper by.

And thought of Vale.

Anger shot through him, and his heart rate went up.

Vale. That a*****e. Making me sick!
Quinn, calm down.
Kissing me then kicking me off of the couch! How rude!
Quinn--
I hate him! Hate him!

Quinn's nostrils flared as he turned and glared hard at Seth. He was angry all of a sudden, and his moods swung hard. The closest thing to take his anger out on was Seth. Small bits of lightning shot from one finger to the other, his hairs standing on end.

"Nothing personal, but you know how it is. It's the game." He held up his hand, and pointed at Seth, lightning popping in the air.

Seth didn't respond, really? Is there any decent response to being told you don't talk much? Aside some just frowning and silently agreeing and confining the statement at the same time.

He palmed some of the sand he kept in his own pockets, just in case. Seth just shrugged, there wasn't anything he knew well enough that mortals did to pass the time, he knew they had jobs but that was where it stopped. Aside from the people he lived along side in his own neighbourhood, but he was hardly going to suggest that...

Dammit this kid was crazy, one moment he wants to be all buddy buddy next he wants his a** on a skew. Not thinking, just reacting he throws a small palmful of sand from his pocket at Quinns face, hopefully it's make him forgetful and dazed enough to stop.

Quinn growled and shot out a bolt of lightning to the other boy before he had a chance to react, satisfied when he heard the crack it made when it reached its target.

Immediately afterwards, he was suddenly met with a handful of sand to the face.

"What the--" He paused, and blinked.

And blinked again. Then shook his head to get the sand out of his face.

"Seth, huh? That's a nice name. I haven't seen you around middling, before. Did you just move here, or what?" He leaned against the wall, and crossed his arms, looking at the boy. "And thank you for taking off that hood. It isn't raining, and that style is so tacky!"

It appeared to just dawn on him that the boy had wings on his head.

Wings!
Quinn, haven't you done all this already?
What?

"Well...You have nice hair," he offered.

Seth winced in pain, clutching his stomach where the bolt of lighting had hit him. It was like a sharp stinger piercing straight without breaking skin. Luckily he was able to regain his composer when Quinn was spaced out from his own attack.

Okay, so the guy had forgotten the past few minutes, that was enough to have him switch back to when he was being friendly be prior to his insane mood swing. Now he just had to avoid it happening again as best he could.

"Thanks, nope, I live quite far away from his distinct" If cold remember his previous responses it'd be painfully obvious how much perkier he was trying to be.

Oh his headwings, he'd forgotten about that, so much for Quinn not noticing his was a Golding as well.

He nodded, feeling sort of awkward about being complimented on his hair again. He approached Quinn, hands in his pockets palming more sand, leaning against the wall next to him.

"Thanks...you too" He added a bit awkwardly at the end as he patted him on the shoulder, rubbing more sand at him in the process, sooner he forgot about this the better.

"Oh, then why are you hanging around this boring section of to--" Quinn stopped in his tracks, then blinked again. The other boy had gotten more sand on him, and he completely blanked on what he was talking about.

"Watch where you're going!" You could have killed me! Loser." He jerked away from the other boy. "And you made me lose all my groceries! That's a hole 'nother day of work for me, you know that? Are you high or something?" Quinn sighed. "I guess I'll just have to live. I'm Quinn. You are?"

Quinn, something is very wrong.
What are you talking about?
He's making you lose your memory.
That's stupid. Why would he do that? I don't even know him!

He spotted the boy's wings on his head.

Wings!
Quinn, we've done this before!

He stared blankly at the other boy.

"Well...You have nice hair."

He's a godling. It's dangerous. Attack him. Now!
Attack him?
With lightning!
Uh...Okay, I guess.

He arced a bolt of lightning to Seth, hitting him, once again, squarely in the stomach.

In a morbid sort of way Seth was starting to enjoy this. Seeing this guy slowly loose his short term memories, maybe if he kept going...

"Seth" he answered again sounding very polite, not that he'd remember that in a bit mind you. Now he knew what was coming next.

"Thanks...you too" He replied again in response to the third compliment on his hair. Though he was hit in the stomach again, this time the piercing pain that shot through him resulting I his muscles seizing up for a moment.

That was enough, Quinn was too confused from his attacks to be reasoned with any more. With his other pocketed hand he when for his face with another palmful of sand, hitting him in the face before he could try and get away.
