So I found out today that my parents are making me to transfer schools. o.o I am going from a University in Gorham Maine to the University of Manoa in Hawaii. At least they have a official Japanese major! >3<
I guess we will see when I get there.

Wow, that's a big change... That sounds nice though, doesn't Maine get snow or something? Hawaii is supposed to be nice I heard, never been there myself though... xD Hawaii isn't that far from Japan either. Supposedly Hawaii is closer to Japan then the US?

Oh no! What about Miss Chloie!? It's cool that you get to be in Hawaii. (and I've heard that teaching Japanese on the west coast and in Hawaii is pretty common so at least you still have that.) I would have hated to transfer schools. What happened? Cost? or is Maine just too far?

I really want to go with her, but nothing is positive and absolute on my part at the moment. I've been talking with my parents to see if they can accept my own major, and the UHM has a lot of classes for a spanish major that isn't offered here. Openly, I'll mention that college is expensive, and my parents are being a little bit less than helpful when it comes to funding for it. Like... only recently did they finish my FAFSA form for the first time (For those who don't know, it's a way to get LOANS, or federal aid!) I'm going to be a Junior......
My financial aid advisor is apparently too busy to sit down and talk too. >.< It's just a really bad time apparently...We have to get everything done by the end of the month! I'm worried. ;-;. It's almost twice as expensive for me to go there as it is here. To put that into perspective... If it would cost $15,000 a year for me to go here, it would cost me $30,000 dollars to go there. By the way, those numbers are rounded down..

You're missing a decimal place in there somewhere...right? Because if you're paying 15 million for school you're getting screwed over... If it's 15,000 then that's not too bad. I paid (in loans) 30,000 a year for my undergrad school. Now I'm paying 8,000 for grad school which I find SUPER exciting! lol

You're right. This late at night my math gets screwy. Thousands, not millions. Still, to my parents it may as well be millions. All I can say is that I'm going to try my very best! I want very badly to go with her to Hawaii. There is a good opportunity for me there. I can also take Japanese classes formally instead of going through pocket-sized grammar books. I haven't gotten a genki book yet, but I'm sure I'll end up needing on for Hawaii. smile

I am really excited to go to Hawaii, and my hope is that Miss Chloie can come with me! heart I used to live in Puerto Rico and from what I hear it is a lot like Hawaii but cleaner. xd The population at my school is mostly Asian, and where Hawaii is so close to Japan and affiliated with Japan it is the best school in America for Japanese culture and language. Not to mention their conventions and Japanese inspired stores (including Lolita!)
I will be far away from home, but it will be a good transition for me before I live in Japan. Thankfully all my friends here promise to keep in touch, and I will see them during the summer. I'm applying tomorrow. Wish me luck~!
