This is a PRP between:

Rong Wei (Rown)
And
Xiu (Rapid)

Location: A takeaway stand
Weather: Sunny, late morning
PostPosted: Fri Apr 03, 2009 9:50 pm

It had been a few days since the incident of meeting that odd (and dangerous in Xiu’s opinion) person called San and the raevan was still sore about the whole incident. Hazeline had chided him on his behaviour towards that human but…was it really wrong to be wary of someone whom you did not understand and who carried weapons?

Gray wings shifted slightly as the raevan entertained these thoughts. Perhaps he was overreacting…

But no matter. That was over and done with and with luck, Xiu wouldn’t have to meet that person ever again. Right now, there were more important things at hand.

Rounding a corner, Xiu floated up to a familiar eatery. It was full of diners but that was to be expected on a sunny weekend afternoon. The bookstore was busy and Xiu had agreed to buy some lunch for the family although the raevan himself did not require human food. However, the kind of nourishment that he did require could be gotten off these unsuspecting humans…

She was late for work, which wasn't that odd considering she'd been up all night at her other job, and as Rong Wei made her path down the sidewalk towards the booth she would be covering for the afternoon she gave to sign to glance at those surrounding her. Her hair was a slight mess, pulled back into a ponytail to keep it out of her face for now, and her glasses slid down the bridge of her nose with every step she took.

She didn't have time to push them back up, what with her trying to adjust her uniform jacket around her body while also clipping a tie, so when they fell from her face and clattered to the ground in front of a food booth, Rong Wei had to stop. She couldn't see well (read: at all) without them, and now that they were on the ground she would have to bend and grope for them.

Probably in front of no less then twenty people she didn't know. Fabulous.

"Fabulous."

Kneeling down slightly, the Chinese woman began to search the ground.

Xiu was one of the many people lining up at the food both when a woman wearing what was supposed to be a smart looking uniform (save that it had yet to be worn properly) dropped her glasses. Or rather, the glasses sort of gradually slipped down the bridge of her nose until finding no more nose to slide down from, simply fell off and clattered onto the sidewalk. The noise of the falling glasses as well as the curse the woman uttered as she groped about for her spectacles caused a few of the patrons to turn and stare but otherwise, no one made a move to help the lady.

Xiu gave his wings a gently flick as he inched his way out of the long train of people and made his way towards the short-sighted woman. The food could wait couldn’t it? Xiu was sure that Hazeline, Mrs. Bediever and Joshua wouldn’t mind waiting a little longer. It was not like they were on the verge of starvation or anything and this woman needed help. With a crowd like this one, a pair of glasses could easily be trodden if not promptly retrieved.

Floating low to retrieve the fallen glasses, Xiu then made his way towards the Chinese woman. “These glasses, I believe they belong to you,” said Xiu as he held them out before her.

"Thanks."

Rong Wei only had to tap the ground a few times with her hand before someone held her glasses out to her, the blurry outline of the frames recognized by her through memory only, and with a steady hand she reached out to take them and put them on. Her word of thanks was her way of repaying her debt, not even a sign of manners, and when the frames hit her nose she was about to get up and walk off when she saw...what had given her back her 'eyes'.

And she froze. Naturally, because she had no idea what she was looking at.

" . . . .huh."

It was the best she could think of, come up with, to say at the time.

The woman had taken her glasses and thanked Xiu; which was all fine and well until…she had placed them on and had a good look at the raevan. It was clear from the expression on her face that she had never seen a raevan before and not wanting to scare her, Xiu floated back a little and smiled sheepishly.

“You are welcome,” Xiu then added before looking towards the queue. The line was getting longer. Flicking his wings in an amused manner, the raevan returned his gaze to the women. She looked fine, if a bit shocked. “Anything else I could help you with Miss-? The line’s getting rather long and I did promise Hazeline that I’d return with lunch.”

" . . .the hell are you? I know you're not something I drank into being; I didn't drink at all last night."

Well, she hadn't had that much to drink last night anyway, but it certainly wouldn't account for any hallucinations she'd be having during the day time. Rong Wei wasn't a heavy drinker anyway, she often told herself this when others told her she'd had one too many, but if this like this started to show up before her then it was time to drop the bottle.

Or cut back on the casualness of it all. Maybe only one or two drinks every seven months. That might help.

"And my name is Rong Wei, hallucination. Hu Rong Wei."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 06, 2009 10:22 pm

Xiu waited patiently while the other rambled on about not drinking. It was rather amusing actually and the frei couldn’t help letting out a soft chuckle as he watched the other’s antics. When the woman had finally calmed down enough to give him a name however, the white frei nodded before smiling at Rong Wei; amused that she had called him a hallucination.

“If I am a hallucination, how could I have picked up your glasses?” enquired Xiu politely as he eyed the other. “Or have you ever thought that…you could be a fiction of my imagination instead?”

The last question was probably not necessary but Xiu thought that it couldn’t hurt. He was after all, feeling rather playful at the moment and the other’s expression had tickled him. “I am known as Xiu, pleased to meet you Rong Wei,”

Okay, so now she knew she had to be at least thinking a normal person was just looking odd or had one of those 'cosplay' fetishes, because the hallucination had made a good point about being able to hand her back her glasses. Usually such things could not, if she could recall (she couldn't), so that made...sense. Awkward sense, and a feeling of dread sense, but sense.

"Fabulous. Not only am I not dreaming, but you seem to think it's okay to have a sense of humor. This is the last thing I need right now."

The Chinese woman rested her fingertips against her left temple, her expression one of annoyance mixed with a person trying hard to sort things out. No one else seemed so bothered by such a creature floating around him that it made her nervous, almost alien-like, but that was okay. Feeling ill at ease probably meant she wasn't crazy at all.

"And your name is Xiu? That's actually...kind of pretty. How do you write it?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 06, 2009 10:56 pm

Xiu laughed. “A sense of humour is good; for the one being humoured at least,” said Xiu as he watched the woman place her hand onto her temples in an attempt to make sense of this whole incident. “However, I do apologize if it has caused you …some confusion?”

The woman had then asked the frei how his name was written. At this request, it was Xiu’s turn to give her a confused look. “How…do I write it? Ummm…with letters; alphabets?” said Xiu a little quizzically. “But it is spelled as X.I.U.; Hazeline was the one who gave me that name. She is my guardian,”

"Ah."

It was all she had to say as this 'Xiu' seemed to miss her point entirely about how something is written, not spelled in English, but considering it could be worse she let it all slide; Rong Wei had a habit of assuming things and with a name like Xiu she assumed it would be written in Chinese. Her bad.

"Don't worry about bothering me, or troubling me, it's not hard to do on a morning after. I just think that if this is reality then I'm going to come out of this okay, or if this is a dream then I'm hopefully dressed in whatever ditch I'm laying in. Or at least sleeping at the salon where I should be."

She mused on the idea for a while, seconds ticking off a watch that rested on her left wrist, the sounds echoing close to her ear. Usually a calming sound that brought her down from anything to a state of uncaring, the watch didn't fail this time.

"Seeing as we've exchanged named and small talk or whatnot, will you allow me a question of you?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 06, 2009 11:42 pm

((Seeing that Hazeline (although Chinese ) does not know Chinese well, Xiu is pretty much not aware of it hence him not knowing his written name. XD But I could show you the character if you want. ))

Xiu listened as the woman talked about ‘morning after’, ‘reality’, ‘ditch’ and ‘salon’ and doing his own bit of assuming, Xiu assumed that this woman led a very different life from the one he was used to. Hazeline’s life ran pretty much on clockwork and the frei had come to admire his guardian for her sense of never deviating from her life’s schedule. The talk of sleeping fully clothed in a ditch was something the frei could not imagine. Shifting his wings, Xiu nodded as the other asked if he could be questioned.

“Three questions have already been asked previously but sure, I’d be happy to answer them to the best of myknowledge,” replied Xiu smiling.

" . . . . okay then."

So it couldn't tell her the character for its name but it could tell her how many questions she'd asked all along? What the hell was this floating winged thing - some kind of savant monster that was really kind of pretty but it didn't matter?

"First off, what are you? You keep saying you're not a dream and considering it's been about three or so minutes since we've started, maybe longer I don't know, I think I'm staring to believe that; I'm hungry and you're not an all you can eat buffet chef so that rules out my common dreams."

Yes, the portly little Chinese woman often dreamed about chefs of all kinds, but it wasn't because she liked their outfits or wanted to be one someday in her future. She actually didn't know why, but once again that was moving away from the whole topic at hand.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 07, 2009 12:15 am

“An all you can eat buffet chef?” repeated Xiu laughing a little. This human was really amusing. “You do have…odd dreams but as to your question, I am a raevan. Does that answer your question Ms. Hu?” asked Xiu as he folded his arms across his chest. “I was born, or at least that’s what Hazeline says, in a place called Lab 305 and have been placed under Hazeline’s care. There are a few other raevans like me in the sense that they too are half-formed; a term you humans used often to describe us,”

"Lab...Raeven. Oh! I...I've heard of you. I think."

Being created, coming from a lab, hadn't Rong Wei just heard something similar to this only a few days before? She couldn't really trace where it was from, her memory telling her it was probably from some guy she was playing mah-jongg with, though her gut told her it wasn't a guy at all who mentioned something about labs. There were essences mentioned in there too, amongst other things like cheating and counting, but that was the extent of it all.

"Eh, I'll figure it out later on. It's not really that important, I doubt the two of us will ever meet again or I'll see anything like you more then once."

Rong Wei was blunt, but she was being pretty serious and worldly. Gaia was a big place, hardly one for her to keep running into whatever the hell this Xiu-Raven-floaty pretty was, but maybe she'd stepped on someone's grave. After all, she'd met a Raeven only a few days after talking about Lab something-or-other.

"As for my question, yeah, you've answered me. Raised about half a dozen others but we can't stand around talking all day, what with you not being human and me having to get to my job - which I'm still late for."

Of course, this didn't mean Rong Wei was done. She had two more questions, but she would have to think of them quickly. The Chinese woman was pretty shrewd when in want of things, even if they came free or she had to take them, and answers out of Xiu seemed like something.

"Another question, you said Guardian. You are incapable of caring for yourself, am I to understand?"
