It was a clear day, or as clear as he could tell with the canopy looming overhead. The trees were starting to become a far too familiar sight. He started to think, with a now fallen expression, that it was time to move on again. The idea of being confined to one area was something he could never understand. And yet, even he, as old and practiced as he was now, still grew accustomed to the feel of a certain area and sometimes found it hard to leave. The regretful emotions would linger for a while, but always faded eventually. There was only one place in the world he would always have a true longing for. That was the very place he was headed now.

Lifting his head, Tuyet took a quick whiff of the fresh air. He knew exactly which direction was the proper one. Were he to spin in a circle until dizzy, he would always be able to lift his head, shut his eyes, and know without a doubt which way to turn to catch the distant scent of the snowy mountains (or an imagined smell from his memory, at least).

Letting out a soft breath, the male stopped in his trek, taking a moment to turn back to the path he'd been wandering. Maybe... he would take another moment to wet his throat before continuing on. Moving only a slight bit off track, he trotted in the direction of one of the many streams that snaked from the river.

Bastet cautiously bent down to take a drink of water, her ears flickering, listening for any sign of danger. She had been traveling for a while and was used to being on her own but sometimes she wished she had a herd to watch her back but she hadn't had one of those since she had been younger.

Sipping the cool water, Bastet's tail shifted back and forth, her coloring sometimes stuck out and it made her nervous to be out in the open. She was supposed to be the hunter and any time she wasn't her nerves were reflexed in her twitching tail. Ironically it also twitched when she was happy or angry so it really wasn't a good indicated of her moods.

Coming up on the stream in no time, he immediately dipped his muzzle in the cool flow. His throat really had been drier than he imagined. It was nice to get one last sip in this forest territory before moving on to home, where the water was frigid enough to stop even a seasoned drinker in their tracks. Lifting his head once satisfied, an off-colored tongue slipped between his lips, lapping at a bit of leftover liquid on his fine fur.

It was then he noticed something at his front. Yes, the other Kirin was on the other side of the stream and down a ways, but still. Perhaps his thirst had distracted him or perhaps he was simply being unobservant. But that certainly wasn't like him. Tuyet was the type to notice nearly everything. Details were his business and observation his life. Ducking his head, he shook it slightly before moving down the stream and closer to the female with a disarming smile.

The sound of something coming closer caused Bastet to stop drinking and looking around, and sure enough a male appeared to take a drink. He didn't seem to notice her at first but once he did he headed her way. Bastet wasn't sure how to feel about this unknown male heading towards her but she wasn't a coward and held her ground. He didn't look threatening and was smiling so perhaps he didn't mean trouble. Bastet nodded her greeting and continued to watch ready to react at any sign of hostility.

"It's a pleasure." Came his soft voice when he was finally close enough. A socially acceptable distance, he believed, and with the stream still separating them, he hoped she wouldn't mind. Besides, she was still here and had acknowledged his presence. That was a start. "I am Tuyet," he continued, unphased by her silence and actually used to such behaviors from new company. Well, he was honestly used to many, many reactions to his appearances. Introducing himself to a stranger was far from new to him.

"Hello Tuyet, I am called Bastet," Bastet replied politely relaxing slightly when he didn't make a move to get closer to her then she was comfortably with. Her tail, however, was still moving rapidly side to side and the paranoia she developed growing up in the family she had still at the forefront of her mind.

"Bastet," he mimicked, nodding his head slightly. There were many faces in his past, most with names still attached. Remembering was something he liked to do to pass the time. It was nice to look back and think of actually knowing a fellow Kirindae, not just a passing smile and a nameless appearance. In fact, he had whole herds memorized, those that were accepting and trusting enough to speak with him. There weren't always many of those.

Attempting to ignore the slight tenseness of the air--at least for now--he dipped his head to the water, taking another drink. At his back, his tail flicked as well, but in a much calmer rhythm, as well as being slowed by his heavier amount of fur. Eventually, he stood straight again, thinking to make more conversation. "Did you come here for a drink, as well?" he questioned lightly, seeming interested. "This area has quite a few convenient streams."
