Physical Description: Entan is a man of average height, and has a pretty average build too. He’s more fit than most of his buddies back at Healer Hall, due to an active lifestyle at Ista Weyr, but he is still far from matching a dragonrider. His weight is actually rather low due to stress, and there are often bags under his hazel eyes from frequent late-night emergencies and ill-timed inspiration for the study of his craft. Stubble shows on his jaw and dimpled chin for days at a time because he’s too tired or rushed to shave, and his plain brown hair, unwashed more often than he would like, hangs about his narrow face as it will. His gravelly expression often leads others to think he’s a grump, but it’s just how he looks when he’s tired. Which is all the time.
Personality: Life, according to Entan is made up of a series of obsessions: things to concentrate on, to the exclusion of all else. Including sleeping. Oh, and eating too. This is one focused fellow we’re talking about here.
Work is what Entan lives for. He devotes his daylight hours to keeping busy wherever he is needed, and is lucky if he remembers to eat two meals a day. After nightfall, he is on call for emergencies. When there aren’t any emergencies going on, he will often study late into the night. He sleeps only enough to remain alert while on duty.
When romance enters the picture, usually in the form of puppy love, he somehow makes time for it without dipping into the hours he devotes to his craft. Though he can become fixated on a particular woman, he never comes off as creepy. He is as gentlemanly as one can be, never being pushy or overwhelming, though she is constantly on his mind, dancing between medicinal recipes and the latest set of diagnoses.
To his patients, he is brisk and cordial. He displays confidence when diagnosing and treating, even when he isn’t one-hundred percent positive of the outcome, and is generally good at keeping them calm. He tends to extend the brisk-and-cordial behavior to non-patients as well. Any “deeper” part of his personality is deeply buried in his rush to move on to the next task.
History: Entan was born and raised at Healer Hall. Naturally, he began training in the Healer craft from a young age. The boy was always oddly dedicated to his lessons, so much so that his mother and father actually pushed him to try other things. This was pretty unfortunate for Entan – he focused so strongly on what he did that he was only able to juggle one or two different pastimes, personal hobbies included, and still do them well. It was better to leave him to excel wherever he pleased, so that’s what his parents did.
The young apprentice once again gave full attention to his lessons. When it came time to decide on an area of the craft to concentrate in, Entan had his Master choose for him. Feeling that the boy could be trained to fill the need, the Master Healer began teaching him the specifics of caring for older adults ages 40 and up. When Entan walked the tables at eighteen and became a Journeyman, he was assigned to Ista Weyr, where his specialty was in demand for older dragonriders who wished to keep up with the younger generations. He kept quite busy, and happily so, for a couple of Turns.
Then came Lanakirene. She arrived at Ista as a candidate, but in between Hatchings, she was a talented Healer apprentice. Though she was mostly involved in the art of Dragonhealing, Entan saw her quite often, being one of those in charge of maintaining the riders. They worked together from time to time for four Turns, during which he slowly began to take breaks from his job and act like a real person. Even though she was rather boyish in appearance, with no feminine curves to speak of, Entan had grown to have certain feelings for her. She was just a nice girl. She never appeared to return his interest, but his feelings were still the same. Recently, Lanakirene Impressed, so Entan doesn’t see her much anymore. As a result, he’s drowning himself in work again, constantly bringing himself to the brink of exhaustion.
Pets: No time for pets!
Other/Talents: The usual Healer fare, diagnosing symptoms, mixing medications, measuring doses, scheduling therapy, etc. He can focus amidst distraction and during a crisis. He also desperately needs a hobby.
