The red she-wolf raced through the trees with her tongue hanging from her mouth, her eyes bright and filled with excitement. Her gaze was focused on a squirrel running for it's life, dashing away from the wolf as if Falcon meant then forest critter harm. The female had no intentions of actually hunting the animal, but there was too much fun in the chase! Half the time she couldn't catch up to them anyhow, always scaring them a bit too soon and they would bolt away before she could get her wits back about her.
Her paws suddenly hit water, the cold liquid splashing up and around her and she stumbled to a stop, her gaze snapping away from the gray animal quickly. She continued to pant as she jumped to another spot of the river to cause another splash of the fresh water, growling and batting playfully at her own reflection. After another moment she leaned down to lap up some of the cool waters, her ears perking as she listened to the sounds of the forest around her.
Some wolves may look upon her and think her still in the mind-set of a pup, but she was often along and had long since decided it was better finding ways to keep one's self entertained rather than walk around brooding because of the fact that you were alone.
She took a deep breath when she was finished drinking and her tail beat lightly against the water, her fur dripping. "Mmm.. if only the others would come around once in a while.." She said out loud, thinking of her siblings. She hadn't seen her family in such a long time, but she didn't think it exactly a terrible thing.

Today wasn't the best of days. It was growing to warm, and to bright for his standards. He preferred to slink around in the cool shadows near this river. He hunted squirrels or rabbits, sometimes a fawn if it were alone. Lone wolves couldn't take down a full fledged deer. Or at least Swayambhu couldn't. Nor did he feel like trying.
Electric blue eyes took in his surroundings, looking to the rock fixtures of the cliffs, taking in the sights of new animals roaming about with their younglings. He could care less about them. It was spring, and Sway never enjoyed that. This wolf was always alone. It was second nature to him; thinking to himself. He entertained himself with thoughts of how he should be. Licking his lips, he looked out into the river, nostrils flaring as he picked up an unfamiliar scent. It was another wolf, from the earthy smell of things.
More than likely a pup, if those splashes were any indication. Ah, well. Slinking along the tree lined riverbank, he followed the noises, watching, looking for who it was. When his gaze came across a female, a glistening red female who looked quite different, Sway paused in his steps. He became uncertain. It clearly wasn't the pup he'd been thinking it was. It was full grown, but she seemed to be having a good time.
Letting himself step out into the shallows, he lapped at the cool liquid and pretended he didn't see her. This would let him figure out what she was doing here, alone. She was a stunning female, he admitted reluctantly. Who'd let such a female go? Perhaps she was like himself. Didn't care for the company of another but every so often.

As she stood thinking her tail fell still, and after a moment her ears twitched. Her gaze narrowed a bit and the only indication she'd become aware of an other prescience was the small and slight tilt of her head. Her nose wrinkled when she realized she couldn't capture the scent and she could feel her muscles tense, but she realized she'd probably be attacked already if the stranger had so wished it. Though she enjoyed games she found herself to be a formidable opponent against any foe who so chose her as being such. In fact she was quick to tell company, though rare it was, how good she was at everything she did. The most annoying part often was the fact that they didn't believe her- or were annoyed with her when she did prove herself to be rather good at doing things in life! But why shouldn't she? She'd been alone for so long, it only made things more entertaining if you did you very best at them. Perhaps out of all the things she could do well her skills of being aware fell quite short. At least, she reasoned, she wasn't as oblivious as some of the stupider wolves she'd met growing up.
her warm, brown orbs turned along with her head as she looked over at the other, scanning along the bank until she spotted the other wolf, not far off from her. She still hadn't moved from her own spot, and her muscles had yet to relax. His gaze- icy blue! was firmly on the water, so she could only assume he had not seen nor smelt her. A small 'wuff' fell from her throat, not very friendly but it wasn't hostile either. She was looking over his form curiously, taking in his coat colors and his muscle mass. He was handsome, but she didn't often let looks get the best of her.
After a moment, regaining some of that childish-playfulness she'd had just before she took a few slow steps forward, lifted a paw, and swiped it in just the manner that would send water flying at him! She gave a great laugh of delight, very pleased with herself, after doing so. Her tail was wagging again and it seemed the tense air about her had melted away. "Hey! It's not good to be so oblivious to what's around you boy!" Her words were taunting, but something about them seemed to hint at good-humor. She really had thought he just hadn't seen her, not that he was ignoring her. She knew her use of 'boy' would probably annoy him, seeing as most wolves around these woods were far to self-important to be having a younger wolf calling them as such. She was quite sure she was younger, at least she had already decided in her mind it was so.
She took another step toward him, still unsure if her actions would cause hostility in the other, and now wasn't very far away. The grin on her maw was presently very large and finally hinting at how friendly she could be.

The only indication Sway had at the water flying at him, was the sound of the water being disturbed. By the time he looked up, it was too late. His face and chest were completely soaked by this ever playful female. He snorted a little, getting the water out of it before sneezing violently and let out an annoyed noise as he shook himself off, hoping to get her back. No, sway wouldn't be that lucky, the female was still a good distance away from him. "I wasn't oblivious," he said, voice raspy and deep, as if he didn't use it much, which he didn't. Flicking an ear, he shuffled a bit closer to her, arching a brow.
"I noticed you before you noticed me. Didn't see any reason to disturb your..... ...play," his mouth quirked upwards at that last word. Play. Like a puppy. He'd ignored her 'wuff' of warning, or whatever it was, considering the fact she splashed water on him. It was good, though, that he knew she wasn't aggressive. Now she knew he wasn't.
"Be careful, girlie. Causing so much commotion and you're bound to be spotted by a pack and chased down. There's a few near this area." Why was he giving her warning? Despite the fact she was pretty and playful, he didn't know anything about her. It was illogical for him to even be talking to her, right now. He prided himself on being alone. But, perhaps loneliness was taking over. Perhaps he wanted some sort of company. ...Maybe. "To the left, about a mile down, is Juniper. You don't want to get mixed with him. Take one look at you then try to kill you. Don't think he takes to females. I know he's attacked a pup or two. North is a small pack, not very friendly. South..... I'm not sure. I don't go south," he said truthfully. Maybe he should explore going South. See what's out there. Maybe find himself a more suitable den.
Wrinkling his nose at his own thoughts, he looked back up at her and took her in once again. Her reds were beautiful. Not what he was used to seeing; browns and greens of the trees. And the occasional weird color of a squirrel or fox. She had a distinct pattern to her, unlike himself. Sway found himself a very boringly colored wolf compared to stories he'd heard. Rainbow wolves, bright wolves, white wolves... She was red, several colors of it, in fact. "Just... Be careful.." He was going to turn around and leave, mind his own business, but he couldn't move.
Curiosity got the better of him and he asked, "What is your name?" How bold of him.

She watched eagerly at his reaction to the splash she'd given him, and found herself lightly amused at it. Well, he almost seemed indifferent to the action. Neither upset by it (that she could tell) nor ready to splash back. It had been a long shot that he'd be playful anyhow, most adults weren't. Her ears flicked as they drank in his deep, raspy voice and she couldn't help but assume that he was a real lone wolf, one who didn't often want to run into others and chat with them; trading stories of their travels and adventures. She was so captivated by his voice and creating his background in her mind without any input from he himself that she almost missed his words. He wasn't?
As he explained her grin faltered a little and then grew in size as she let out a small chuckle, shuffling in the water and then sitting, tail still swinging in the shallow depths. "Ah, figures." Well, it did make sense that he'd spot her before she'd even realized he was there. It wasn't as if he walked to the stream with his eyes glued to the spot he was going to drink from. "You know, I really think you ought to change your ways... disturbing someone's play, pah!" She yipped, laughing again as she glanced away from him and along the water, swishing her paw in it a bit. "Just like any good little pup I'm more than open to having another join in on my fun!" And then she winked at him, as if it was some secret between the two. She chuckled again, softer this time, before bounding back to all fours and shaking off.
Still, this seemed to be an interesting meeting and after going so long without any social contact she could have cared less if he'd tried to attack her. Hell, that would make a good story for the next friendly wolf she would run into. She didn't think he was unfriendly really, though it was almost as if he was trying to be done with the whole meeting. Girlie, the comment made her beam. She enjoyed wolves who could throw tit for tat back at her, it made life fun. And he was warning her! She wasn't sure why that made her so amused, happy even! She just continued to grin at him, eyes shutting a moment as if she was imagining the scenario he was offering up. "Surely no pack has any right to attack me for enjoying myself, on their territory or not." She stated, almost boasting that she'd do what she liked. She listened all the same though, head tilting a little as he mentioned this Juniper wolf. What an awkward name! Maybe she would just check out the territory a little... oh she could be a fool often enough as it was, but what the he-wold didn't realize was he was just planting fool-hardy ideas into her head. "Hmm, I don't know." She said after a moment, a very impish smile on her features as she moved toward the shore, closer to the male. Her body swayed in a natural, care-free manner. "I'd rather like to think I could be quite charming when I want to be." Oh she didn't mean for it to seem as if she was making a big joke out of his advice, really she didn't! She truly did think she could outrun a pack of wolves, or at least slip by unnoticed.
"Though I suppose it wouldn't hurt to be a little more careful." She said, nose wrinkling as if she detested the idea. Why restrict her wants and whims just because of some lousy pack? "Wouldn't want my pretty face scarred up, eh?" She was finally beside him now and without any understanding of personal boundaries she nudged him with her paw, grinning again. The manner in which she made her comment didn't make her seem conceited, it was clear she was only joking. She knew it wouldn't be very fun for herself if she got caught by a pack... no, she was fairly certain it would end fatally.
Ah! He wanted to know her name! Maybe he wasn't as antisocial as she assumed, or perhaps she was just that excellent. Her tail wagged a little and she sat down right next to him. "Falcon; like those birds, you know?" She seemed quite a bit pleased with her name, always thinking it wasn't silly or complicated, and certainly no other wolf could give her some silly nickname or shorten it into something she hated. Well, unless someone decided to call her Fal, which seemed like it would be a very big inconvenience to her. She leaned toward him a little, her eyes on the stream sitting in front of them. "Just as fast and rumored to be as deadly." She stated, again there was a light, joking manner about her words even as she spoke in a hushed voice, again as if she was sharing some big secret with him. She sometimes liked to sit at the edge of fields, just watching. She'd seen a falcon hunting once, it made her very proud to be named after the creature. "And yours?"

Sway had seen the way she reacted to him speaking. It was a very typical reaction, at least, when he did run into someone. It wasn't often, but it happened from time to time. The brown wolf wasn't aware she was creating his story in her head, nor did he care if he did know. He always let people assume what they wanted and proved them neither right now wrong. Sway took silent pleasure in seeing their confusion and uncertainty about him. He was forever judged on looks before anything else. Yes, Sway was mangy, he knew that, but he did not care once more. He didn't pride himself on his looks, nor did he pride anyone else on their looks.
The wink unnerved the lone wolf and he shuffled back a little as she came close. Why? He had a personal boundary he didn't want crossed. She didn't look or act like she wanted to harm him, but he never knew. Better safe than sorry. Her voice was soothing to his ears, though the mere act of talking and listening was draining little by little. Sway's own energies were used for chasing pray and finding somewhere to sleep. That was part of being a loner; you hardly ever slept in the same bed twice in a row. Sure, you would come back to find the bed later on, but never two days in a row. He'd lost count of where he'd slept through his wanderings. So, she liked to play and flirt, it seemed. Sway often observed winking was a part of flirting, but he was oblivious otherwise. Maybe she meant something different by it. Certainly he wasn't good enough to flirt with. He was a filthy, skinny loner who didn't show any real emotion and wouldn't be able to keep a mate should he ever get one. Whatever, he ignored it then.
Clearly she had no idea of the packs around this place. There were mean, nasty packs that would hunt her down until they killed her. Relentless. Unforgiving. Just like a certain wolf not to far from here either. She was so full of herself, Sway couldn't help but give a slight quirk of the lips. His version of a grin. She had spirit, she had spunk, but she was plain stupid to think she could outrun runners. "They have specific, quick and sure footed wolves for hunting down trespassers or betrayers. You wouldn't last long at all. These wolves trained their lives for their positions; it's a coveted spot in some packs." His throat was seizing up, hurting him to talk. It was getting dryer and more raspy with every word. Surly she wold hear that and forgive him for dipping his head for a long while to drink. The cool liquid was clearing away that dusty, dirty feeling and loosening tight muscles in his throat, as well as cleaning the dust and dirt off his muzzle.
Now she thought she was pretty. He snorted in amusement at that. Yes, she was a pretty thing, but she shouldn't be that full of herself. Have some form of humility. Carefully stepping to one side, he moved further into the water to clean his pelt even more. Without caring what she said or did, he submerged himself completely and came back up not to long, dripping wet. His blue eyes seemed even more creepy in this water at this time of day. Then he moved back to the shallower end and sat in the water, rather enjoying how it spread through his fur to dry, irritated flesh beneath.
Falcon? What an interesting name. They were quick, beautiful and deadly birds. He knew of them before she even had to explain what they were. He nodded a little and then hesitated to give his own name. It'd been a while since he'd had to do that. "Swayambhu."

She took in most of his movements, how he seemed uncomfortable by certain things she did and she wondered why that was. It was often that Falcon found herself to be uncomfortable around others and wasn't quite sure how to react to others being uncomfortable around her. She was very good company after all, and why should anyone be unnerved by her? What could she have possibly done wrong?
He continued to lecture her on the packs surrounding the area and she felt her smile falter a little, her ears flicker back slightly in annoyance. But what he said made sense, and she wasn't stupid enough to continue questing it or making herself believe she was faster than someone born to do that sort of job. "So you're worried about me then?" She grinned, expression going back to normal. She watched as he moved into the water, not even realizing that speaking was waring him out just a bit. All that she was an opportunity to play, and while sitting there she shifted her weight from paw to paw and almost whined out, wanting very much to go tackle him into the water.
She refrained, though it made her a little sore with herself. "I guess I'm not used to hearing about such nosy buggars. It's so... odd to me. Wolves like that I mean, and not just a mouthful of wolves... so many of our kind have became so.." She looked off into the distance a bit, voice dropping. "Vicious." She sighed and shook her head, not liking her own words one bit.
As she glanced back she was once more drawn to his icy gaze, the sun catching it in such an odd manner. They were the most stunning eyes she could remember seeing, something was just so... interesting about them, they were bright and odd and the way the sun played off of them seemed unnatural, as if they were constantly glowing. She found herself leaning closer to the other to study them more. "Swayambhu.." Her voice was quiet again cause she was still staring at his eyes, entranced by them. She shook her head after a moment and focused as best she could, tail giving a few wags. "Does it mean anything?" she asked slowly, head tilting to the side.

"Self-manifested or that which is created by its own accord." She asked, and that's what his name meant. He'd chosen it himself when he was old enough too wander away from his mother. He remembered that, but not her. It was odd, how the brain could block out very specific memories. Often times, Sway was caught up in his own thoughts, sorting them, pushing them to the sides to make sense of what he was thinking, or trying to recall. Memories always flashed before his eyes like a black and white, silent movie. He never remembered conversations, but he remembered body language, actions, faces sometimes names, if he felt they were important enough to him.
Those blue eyes flicked back to her as he saw her shift from paw to paw. Apparently she was restless. Restlessness was a sign of needing to work off energy. The best way to do that was to hunt, in his own opinion. He had never once played before. He wouldn't be sure how too. Quite possibly, he would turn her down if she even asked him about playing. But he did move toward her, mainly to get out of the water. His paws moved fluidly in the water, as if he did this all the time. He was, actually. He spent his time in the water because it helped build up leg muscles, which was better to hunt with. When he walked past her, he did notice how his fur brushed along her own, but didn't take it to mind.
He had a feeling she would ask about his name. Where it came from, why he was named that. So before she could launch into a bunch of questions, he'd offer an answer. "I named myself. I don't remember my given name, but that one seemed to fit. I don't remember anything past finding that name for myself. How it came to be, was it popped into my head after talking with a raven who knew a bit about languages. I believe he'd mentioned it and I took a liking to it."
Now his throat was really sore. He winced as he cleared his throat and shook his head. She needed to either talk to him, so he didn't have to talk, or leave. Either way, he wasn't going to do too much more talking.

She shifted again and moved in a slow, tight little circle before bowing slightly. She was stretching out her muscles as she assumed she would be sitting and chatting with the male for a while yet. She sat with her tail curled about her paws, ears perked and head slightly tilted as she listened to his name meaning. She thought perhaps that the meaning was less beautiful than the actual name, but interesting on it's own behalf. As her maw opened to further question it's whereabouts he seemed to almost read her mind, answering what she'd not gotten the chance to ask of.
"Named yourself?" It was rhetorical, merely a question to herself prompting her to think on her own name. She could only assume that her mother had some inkling of who her pups would become, naming them after other animals for traits she saw beginnings of. Falcon thought her name to be very suiting for herself. "It's odd how names become so suiting for their holder, isn't it? I think that it's wonderful that you've named yourself... it seems almost more proper than having a parent bind you to a name that isn't your own choosing." But it also served to make her further curious of his past. "All of my brothers and sisters were named like myself, after animals. But I think they all turned out well suited to their names." She paused again, head shifting to tilt to the other side.
Her ears flicked back slightly, he'd already cleared his throat a few times. Her father would do that when he was irritated, trying to get attention or just had something bothering his throat. So which did this Sway have attached to that throat clearing? Her gaze shifted toward the sun peaking through the trees after a moment, trying to gauge what time of day it was. She was reluctant to even hint that she would be leaving soon, so rare was the chance to be social these days. Still, it was there... tugging at her heart. She needed to go on again, she needed to find something. But what? "It was a wonderful meeting Sway... if only it could last longer." She smiled weakly, bounding to her paws and stretching out her limbs again before bowing her head and shifting past him. She glanced over her shoulder, tail wagging. "Perhaps the gods will smile down at us and let our paths cross again one day." Or perhaps she would never see this wolf again, who could say?
