Walnut shuffled around in the grass, stopping here and there to dig a little, and then move on. His actions probably looked extremely odd to the casual observer, but they were meticulous and that of an artist. Most the rabbits knew him as a sort of Casanova, but he did enjoy things other than chasing after his latest conquest. (Though a good chase would derail his hobbies in an instant)

His dark chocolate coat glistened in the sunshine overhead, which had given him the idea for the latest rock picture. Why not the sun? Frithrah personified! If he could just find the perfect stones.... it was hard up on the hill. Most had rolled to the outskirts long ago, and with the diseased out there, he kept away from there. The thought of it brought him shivers.

"Narn!" Walnut exclaimed, as he came across a pile of rocks that would be perfect for his quest. Wasting no time, he began shuffling through them, separating them by size and shape.

User Image"What are you doing?"

Cowslip couldn't retain his curiosity any longer. He had been watching the darkly hued buck for some time, and his odd movements and behavior were certainly amusing. Now he just needed to know what the other buck was doing, exactly, and he didn't feel like he wo uld be able to rest his mind until then. Besides, anything to keep from fretting over the possible contamination of the healthy rabbits at the top of the Down.

The spotted, black and white male moved towards Walnut after he voiced his question, eager to take closer look at what he was doing with all of those rocks. He had never seen them used for anything other than a game of bobstones. Was that what this other was preparing for? A good old fashion game of bobstones?

Something about the situation told him that this was not the case.

Looking up, the brown buck shook his head at the black and white rabbit that had spoken. So many never understood, but he liked the look of this fellow, so perhaps he would come to. "I'm actually making a rock picture of Frithrah. When i'm done, it will look like the sun overhead. Anyone that passes this place can be reminded of anything that reminds them of sunny times. Stories, lovers, anything...."

He knew his explanation was perhaps unconventional. He could be cryptic on occasion, without meaning to. Catching an itch behind his ear with his hind leg, he waited for the large buck to reply. Perhaps he should give him something easier to digest?

"My name is Walnut by the way, what's yours?"

"Er, Cowslip. Nice to meet you, Walnut."

The hefty buck leaned back on his haunches and peered down at the earth below his paws, trying to decipher what it was that the othr buck had just said, as well as the image he was trying to creatue. Artforms weren'e exactly commonplace in the barn and he had yet to be exposed to this sort of thing.

Though not wanting to offend, he leaned closer to it and pretended to inspect it closely. "Frithrah? Out of rocks?" He tilted his head upwards to catch a quick glimps of the sun and then turned his gaze downward once more.

"Well, I guess I can sort of see it, but I'm sure I would recognize it more easily once you are finished. Besides, sunny times are much needed, now. I am sure the warren would love to keep them dear."

Sighing a little, he knew that the Buck didn't understand entirely. That was all right though, he didn't do them for anyone else but himself anyway. It beat just sitting around and eating.
"Yeah, when it's finished you should be able to tell what it is, and i agree, warm fun times are always needed! And reminders of them are just as good. This whole business with the captain and the diseased, "He shivered, "It's good to try and find fun in life whenever we can." Cocking his head to the side, he looked at the bunny inquisitively. " So what are your plans for the day? I'd hate to have interrupted something fun..." He gave a small chuckle, noticing the does that had been in the direction the buck had come from.

Cowslip gave the artistic buck a sheepish grin and a bob of his spotted head.

"Not much in the way of things, today, friend. Just wandering after a nice siflay and meeting a few fellow rabbits here and there. I've got a little foster kitten I need to bring up, soon, for her own greens and whatnot." He replied with ease and general cheer as he remained on his haunches and observed the oddly placed rocks t hat the other buck had gathered. It was certainly an interesting hobby, albeit a little odd.

"How long have you been moving rocks? I don't think I've seen any rabbit do that before, but I'll admit, I haven't been in a warren for very long, now." He inquired as he considered the interesting patterns.

Walnut thought for a moment. He'd been doing it since he'd been told the story of them as a child. It wasn't a popular story, so it probably hadn't been re-told in some time. Cocking his head to the side, he listened as he heard that Cowslip had a kitten to take care of. The thought appealed to him, if only to have a family of his own to take care of one day, other than leaving them to their own devices. A forever mate wasn't such a bad idea was it?

"I've been moving rocks since i was a young one. To my knowledge, no one else in the warren does it. I picked it up from a story as a kitten, and it just sorta stuck." He grinned. " It's a strange hobby, but a rabbits gotta have something. How about you? Are you an aspiring storyteller, or Owsla captain? What do you dream about?" It may have been an odd question, but Walnut was an odd sort of fellow sometimes.

"What story is it?" There it was again, that curiosity in his tone and in his actions. His white nose twitched and his ears shifted forwards as he inquired about the story that Walnut mentioned. As much as he did not like to admit it, there were many tales of El-ahrairah and other such stories that he had not heared, what with being raised in a hutch by humans.

And this Walnut character was certainly strange, but there was something about the aspiring artist that just appealed to the hefty, spotted buck.

"Stories, though I do enjoy listening to them and telling them, are not my strong suit. I would like to run with the owsla one day, if anything to help strengthen the security of the warren." He leaned back on his haunches and rested a forepaw against his healthy girth, for he was one of large and lean build, and chuckled. "I can throw my weight around, if need be, a pain trying to get down some of the narrower runs, though. What'chu think?" He chuckled as he dropped back to all fours and sniffed and studied one of the rocks. He dare not touch them, lest he upset the darker hued male.

Chuckling, Walnut replied to his show of masculinity. "I think you'll make us a fine officer some day! And to tell you the truth, i don't really remember the story much. Something about a strange warren a rabbit was visiting? They had a huge area underground where they told stories, and all along the wall were these rock pictures, to remind people of the stories, or prompt the storyteller. I think maybe the person telling me was making it up, but it still passes the time." Grinning, he swatted at a fly that was attempting to land on his creation.

Pressing the last stone into place, were a human to view it, it would look like an odd sort of circle that could possibly look like the sun... if one stretched the imagination. "There, all finished. See, you come up to them like this" He went up, using his whiskers and paws to feel the rocks, "And you feel them. That way, in the dark you can still be reminded. As it's day right now, you can obviously see it." Walnut sighed a little, definitely not one of his better creations, but what was a young buck to do but practice more? "I hope to make a grand epic scene when my skill is better, but for now, simple things like a sun."

Cowslip grinned; his ego was being rubbed the right way and this put him almost instantly liking the strange, brown pelted fellow. "Well, it cretainly makes for an interesting tale, and you know, what with some work you could probably make something similar here." He replied as he followed the motions that Walnut had shown him, feeling and sniffing the rocks.

He could certainly see and feel it, now that the other buck had pointed it out. If he had just stumbled on it, he wouldn't be so sure. Now, though, he did have something to look to when warmth was needed in his days and nights.

"It's a lovely sun, I think. Practice makes perfect, though." He stated with a smirk and a tilt of his head. "Far better than I could ever do, I think."

He knew it wasn't the best he could do, but he was glad for the compliment anyway. Walnut liked this fellow! Most people didn't give him the time of day when it came to his rocks. Now however, there was someone really paying attention to what was going on. Perhaps he'd become famous after all.

"So you dream of Owsla eh?" Walnut said, changing the topic off of his latest creation. He was a little self conscious of them after they were finished.
"Fancy yourself some wrestling? I could do with some practice, maybe i'll learn a few new tricks!" he added, slipping it in slyly. As if to spur the other buck on, he got himself into a crouched and ready position, tightening his muscles and making sure he knew his head from tail.

"Indeed, I do." He grinned and sat back on his haunches, noting the other buck's sudden shift in conversation.

"A bit of wrestling, eh?" He dropped down to all fours and crouched, readying himself for the friendly tussle that was about to ensue. "A few tricks? Sure I've got a few to teach!" He chuckled as he braced himself and prepared to spring.

Springing, Walnut made a play swipe at Cowslip. Then he turned around and took off, springing over and around a pair of does that had been sunbathing near them. Hearing their shrieks only made him grin and dig in his nails harder, knowing that the much larger buck would catch up at a moments notice.

Cowslip lurched to one side then bounded swiftly after the smaller stone-mover. He couldn't help but to wear a broad grin as he raced after the buck, who seemed to have to ruin the doe's afternoon with their gallivanting. Of course it wouldn't be any fun without stirring up a wee bit of trouble, now, would it?

Knowing full well that they were probably a bit old for such nonsense, but completely lost in the fun of the chase (and there was also the fact that he hadn't had many bucks to goof off with thus far), he kept his paws thrumming against the earth as he chased after Walnut.

"Causing some trouble, eh?" He called cheerily after the darker buck.

The voice was much closer than he'd anticipated, and Walnut dug in as hard as he could to stay ahead of it. "It's no fun if there isn't trouble!!" He called back. It was true enough. No tales of adventure were ever without their bits of trouble and trickery. Not the ones that were any good at least.

Walnut was feeling in his muscles that he hadn't done this enough lately. He used to run all the time, but had stopped when he'd matured, taking to more solitary things like his stones. Perhaps it was time to get back into it. Who knew, he may even become a runner. He had yet to decide truly what he wanted, but it was good to keep his options open to him.

Turning around the tree, he stopped and twirled, facing the oncoming buck, ready for a round of wrestling. He breathed heavy, waiting the few fractions of a second it would take Cowslip to catch up.
