Strongear was wondering around the pack lands, it was just another evening and he wasn't sure how he wanted to spend it. His siblings were off somewhere, doing something... he wasn't sure what, he was only vaguely listening when they had told him about their plans. He had already decided he wanted to do something different tonight. He just wasn't sure what different was.
Strongear was watching all the adults of the pack go about their business, he thought it was funny having a job that you had to do within a pack. He appreciated it though, if it weren't for all these adults he wouldn't have life so easy. After all it was because of them his mom was able to go about her job in the pack and know that her pups were safe and sound back in the pack's land, however this wasn't always the case as Strongear often ventured off to explore the outside world. He enjoyed the outside world, and had mastered being invisible so he was rarely seen actually leave the pack lands and coming back on.
Strongear sat down and looked around. Everyone was bustling about doing their own thing and Strongear had no idea what he what he wanted to do. He let out a sigh and lied down. He figured something would come to mind eventually, and in the mean time he wouldn't use his energy to walk around doing nothing. Instead he decided he would part take in his favorite pass time and watch the others, and judge them.

Laughingstar left her brother and sister to go wander around again, letting them sleep or hunt or whatever they wanted to do. Since it was night, after all, they would probably end up falling asleep. She hoped they wouldn't stay up very long waiting for her.
She could smell the members of her pack and smiled at each of them when they greeted her, winding her way around the circle of dogs skillfully and made her way to one side of the circle. Once she sat down with a sigh, a new smell entered her nose and she looked down to her right.
"Hello little one. What are you doing out here on the edge?"

Strongear glanced up at the voice, he had seen her approach but didn't think she would actually come sit buy him, it didn't bother him that she was there, but he had never seen her before so he became intrigued. "I was just trying to figure out what I wanted to do today." Strongear answered honestly.
He took a better look at her, she was older then he was, but he wasn't sure by how much, and there was something different about her eyes. He had never seen anyone with eyes like that. He wanted to ask, but then thought better of it.... was it offensive to ask others about things about them like that. He decided to wait and see if she volunteered any information about herself before he asked.
He smiled to her and decided instead just to introduce himself, "Oh and uh Hi, my name is Strongear, or at least that's my name here in the pack." He looked back at her again really trying to take her in this time, he couldn't tell what was different but he knew there was something different. He was excited, he had just found his evening activity, he was going to learn about this new dog, who he had never met... it was an exciting thing for him to meet someone new, he liked watching from a distance and judging others, but it was always more exciting to meet them and make a new friend, he wagged his tail excitedly.

She smiled at the juve beside her. "Have you decided what you're going to do? Or are you still thinking? I haven't thought about what I was going to do."
Laughingstar heard giggles and whispers from one side and whipped her head to see who it was. The noises stopped when her sightless eyes gazed at them. They were, she knew, whispering about her. She didn't mind it so much. To be honest, she was used to it by now. But at the same time, it really wasn't that uncommon to have a blind member of your family. She smiled at whoever it was in thanks and turned back to the pup.
"Nice to meet you, Strongear. I'm Laughingstar.

Strongear smiled up at her, "Laughingstar, thats a nice name I like it, it just sounds so friendly. Strongear liked to think that one's name said something about them.
Strongear glanced towards the other dogs who had been laughing at her? them? him? He wasn't sure what there problem was.... but she didn't seem to be too bothered by it so he wasn't going to make a fuss.
"I think I have decided what I want to do." Strongear answered her question, "but it kinda depends on you, I was wondering if you would be wiling to spend sometime with me, I would like to get to know you... I have never me you before." Strongear heard what he said and thought it sounded a bit funny, but hopefully she got what he was trying to say.

She smiled back. "That was the point," she told him. "I am very friendly with everyone. And I suppose you're a good listener, for your name?" If that went along with everyone's name meaning something about them, then that's what she would think about Strongear. "Either that or you do have really strong ears," she giggled, tugging on one gently with her teeth.
How sweet of this little one. He was nicer than most males she had met, really. "Of course. I've never met you either; it's important for us to know all our packmates. Are your parents here with you in the pack"

Strongear giggled as Laughingstar tugged on his ear, she was playful, which was nice he always had more fun with others that were playful. "I'm not sure if I am a good listener..." Strongear said thoughtfully. "But my ears are good I want to be a Scout! he announced proudly, he realized he was kind of trailing off, which was a bad habit of his.
He shifted his weight getting comfortable. " I love to meet others in the pack. I try hard to at least recognize the faces of everyone in the pack." he said this proudly, but really the way he came to know everyone's face was because he enjoyed sitting on the sidelines watching and judging. "My mother is a part of the pack, she came here just before me and my brothers and sisters were born, I have a large family 7 siblings. I have no father though." He trailed off, he wasn't sure how he felt about his lack of father. He decided to just move past the statement, "How about you do you have family in the pack with you?"

"I'm sure you would be a great Scout," she promised him. "If I ever need one, I know who to come and ask for help now. I can do that later, can't I? When you're a big strong Scout helping out the pack?"
Laughingstar smiled sadly at him at the mention of his father. She and her siblings had been lucky to have both parents for their large litter. "I'm one of a litter of thirteen pups. Ours is a bit bitter than yours, I think," she giggled. "I had both parents there for us, thankfully. But my brother and sister came with me to this pride. They're not here right now, they're actually back at the den. They haven't gotten used to the whole 'sleep during the day, hunt at night' thing yet."

Strongear blushed at the mention of him being a big strong scout, he liked the way it sounded. "Of course you could ask me for help!" He would be happy to help her. He smiled at her again.
When Laughingstar mentioned how large her family was he felt silly for saying he came from a big family, he just hadn't met someone with as many siblings as he had yet. "Wow thirteen pups that's huge." He couldn't really imagine having any more siblings in his litter then he already did. "Only three of you came to live here though? Why didn't the whole family come?" This idea of the family separating confused Strongear, of course he was just a kid, but the thought of leaving his mom and siblings wasn't one Strongear liked. Of course he did like to be independent from them some of the time, it was always nice to know he was going home to his family.
"Don't you miss the rest of your family?" he asked her, hoping the question wouldn't upset her. He had laughed when she mentioned her siblings were having problems adjusting to the time schedule the pack kept, "I guess it would be hard coming into a pack like this knowing a different time schedule, I have heard about the problems my mom had when she first came but I was born here so its all I know, I have only been awake during the day a few times."

She giggled. "Yes, it was hard for our parents to find enough food to feed us all! And we had a bunch of boys who ate everything in sight, so mother did not have a good time with that." Her giggles escalated into laughter, remembering the frustrated look on her mother's and father's faces when the food was gone in twenty seconds flat.
Laughingstar gave a shrug in answer, turning her head to stare out into the group before them as they sat on the sidelines. "I'm not really sure. I think we three were the only ones who really wanted to venture out and do more things in the world. Either that or we were the only ones brave enough to do so. But I wouldn't be surprised if some of my siblings ended up in another pack, too. I miss them all, but I have found a new home here."
She nodded. "Yes, I've adapted to it easier because the darkness is better for my eyes, believe it or not. The sunlight doesn't bother them, but I like the coolness night gives me."

Strongear listened to Laughing star thoughtfully. At the mention of her eyes Strongear felt a twinge, he had hoped she was going to explain why her eyes looked different then anyone else he had ever seen. He wondered how he could politely ask about it, she didn't seem to be bothered about her eyes she had infact brought them up so he decided to ask something about them, "Your eyes, they are uh different than anyone's I have seen before."
Strongear realized he hadn't actually asked a question but he had brought the topic up now he would just have to wait an see. He sat almost perfectly still waiting to see what she would say, he hoped that he hadn't scared his new friend away.

She smiled down at him with a gentle smile, pleased and amazed at how polite Strongear was. Any other creature (cub or adult, even) would have asked her outright what was wrong with her eyes. Years of practice had allowed her to be keen with her ears, so many simply thought her pale pink orbs were natural.
"I'm blind," she said simply. "I cannot see a thing. My sister has a heart problem that doesn't let her get too excited or worked up, or else she can't breathe or move at all. My brother is completely normal." Laughingstar giggled. "We all help each other, especially my brother. Both of them are my eyes, when we are together."

Strongear smiled at he again, very happy that she wasn't mad at him asking about her eyes. "Have you always been blind?" he asked. He was glad that she had someone to help her he siblings must be very nice to do something like that to stick by her, "Strongear liked to think he would do the same for any of his siblings if they needed him like that."
"It doesn't seem to slow you down at all, I wouldn't have known if you didn't mention there being something different. You seemed to be able to tell exactly where everyone is." Strongear was very impressed.

She nodded at him. "Since birth," she answered, then shook her head at his next statement. "Nope! Not anymore, at least. I've had some good time to practice, of course. I loved to play games as a pup, so I always would use my ears to listen whenever I could. Then I would win." She laughed.
"Everyone would be so surprised that the blind pup would win."

Strongear was fairly impressed by Laughingstar, "I have my full sight and good ears, and a fair nose and I still can't manage to win against my siblings half the time." he said quietly.
" I think you are amazing" he said bashfully, "You really don't let anything slow you down. I totally rely on all my senses, and if I didn't have my site, well then I wouldn't be able to be a scout." He smiled at here, now aware that she wasn't actually able to see his smiles, but felt a need to smile anyway, he hoped she could sense it in his voice.
He stretched out laying down, looking back out towards the many area of the pack, some adults were starting to return from their night out, hunting and what not, he glanced back up at Laughingstar "Do you find it hard to make friends sometime? I mean there is so much you can't see about them... it would make me nervous...." he trailed of, he was being very truthful with her. Strongear often made friends easily but it wasn't like him to talk this in depth with someone he was much more for the idle chat types of conversation. Although he did always have lots of questions.
