We're dissecting rats in Science. I saw the teacher emptying out this bin of water into the sink on the first day, and at first I thought it was just water... but then she turned and I saw tails and legs sticking out. Apparently, she was just letting them float there for two days... gonk

Anyways, the rats are YELLOW. Bright yellow. From the preservation chemicals. And mine's tongue is sticking out. I named mine Mika =D. My lab partner (who, may I add, is sucking all the fun out of the lab! I mean, of course I'm giddy--when else do I have a dead rat and surgical tools at my disposal? xd Be afraid...) was constantly after me to stop stroking it, stop poking it, stop whimpering at it, and "For the love of God, stop TALKING to it!"

The teacher said to expose the bones, so, naturally, I picked up a pair of scissors and started hacking away at the leg muscles. My partner complained that I was making a mess, and wanted to do the other leg, but we hadn't skinned that one yet. The partners next to us opened up the chest cavity, and showed us all the innards. They were poking at the small intestines before the teacher made them go back to stripping the muscles.

Just thought I'd share, because some of you would think it's cool/disgusting. Anyone else got any cool/disgusting stories? How's school for everyone, anyway?

And is it bad that mutilating dead things makes me giddy?

The funny thing is, last year I was too sqeamish to dissect the eye so I didn't do it. I laugh at how far I've come. In fact, just today I got to tear out the heart and cut it in half. twisted Now I'm looking for the spleen...
