Ren sat on a bench in the park, bored out of his mind, wondering where his twin sister could have gone off to. "Ah well, she does have her own friends after all." He sighed, though, irritated. He hated being bored. He played a bit with some fire magic, then a bit with some water. Then he layed on the bench and stared up at the sky. "Nothing to do... nothing to do..." He could go home... but nobody would probably be there. Or his dad would give him some chores. "nothing to do..."

Zoe frantically sprinted down the park trail, looking for her lost doll. It was hard to believe she was an adult, the way she was always carrying around the doll. She saw Ren sitting on the bench and walked over. "Hey! You there! On the bench!" She poked his arm. "Have you seen a doll anywhere?"

His eyes trailed over to the frantic looking girl. "eh... a... doll?" She looked older than he was. Should she care so much about a dumb toy? Well, his family was odd enough so he knew better than to say something stupid. "Hmm, no. Where did you leave it last? I mean, the parks a big place you know."

"I don't remember! One minute I had her in my hand, and then when I went to look for her again, she was gone!" Zoe started sniffling. "It's the only friend I have! I can't lose it!"

He sat up and looked at her properly. And in doing so, he had to admit to himself she was rather attractive. "Well, I guess I'll help you look for it then. I mean, I don't really have anything better to do. But you know, if you don't find it, you could always make some other friends."

"I could, but I'm no good at making friends. They end up thinking I'm too childish and everything, and then run off..." She looked down at the dirt for a minute, and then back at Ren. He seemed younger than her, but she didn't mind. She wasn't used to being around other people. "Oh! I think I might have left it back at the picnic tables, at the other end of the park! Will you come with me so I don't have to walk all the way back there by myself?"

He shrugged. "Sure, why not. Hey, nothing wrong with being young right? I mean, my parents tell me all the time to 'grow up.' Ah, I'm Ren, by the way. Kinda stupid I guess for not saying that first off."

"Ah! Silly of me to forget. I was just so worked up about my doll. I'm Zoe. Thanks for walking all the way back with me. I really hate being alone. I'm kind of.. clingy."

He shrugged again. "Ah, well, can't be helped. Though a little independence isn't a bad thing." He saw something under the table and picked up a somewhat dirty looking doll. "Is this it?" He handed it to her. "You really should be more careful of your stuff. I mean, I don't know what I would do if I lost my sword. I would be pretty pissed off." it felt odd to be lecturing someone older than him. In fact, it felt odd to be lecturing at all. He supposed it was a strong part of his father's responsiblity side coming out of him.

"Yes! It is!!" Zoe took the doll and hugged it. "Thank you so much, Ren!" She gave him a hug. "I usually am a lot more careful with my things, it just that I was watching a squirrel take food up a tree to its babies, and then I just kind of started following it... Anyhow, I feel like I owe you something. What would you like?"

He laughed. "Hey I didn't help you to get something out of you, ya know. Actually, I should thank you." He stretched a bit. "I mean, you gave me something to do, kept me from being bored. Well, i'm glad you got your doll back.

"But it would make me feel better if you would at least let me buy something to eat, or even just a drink or ice cream or something like that!" She was really happy that Ren had been nice enough to help her out, even though she was a complete stranger.

He shrugged. "well then, if you're really going to insist like that I suppose I could go for an icecream. But don't you late go on and try to say I made you buy it!"

"Oh no! I would never do that!!" Zoe was so startled that she dropped her doll again, and didn't realize it, and started walking in the direction of the ice cream stand. "Come on, let's go get some ice cream."

He sighed, and picked up the doll she had dropped. "You really do need to be more careful if this doll of yours is so important to you. I'm surprised you've managed to keep her this long." He waved it in front of her face. "Mabe I should hold onto for you until your ready to go home?" He thought about it for a second. "On second thought, maye I should walk you home myself after the icecream." His eye twitched at that. He really was starting to sound like his father, being so gentleman like. So some of those lectures had sunk in after all.
