"Think will be good idea!" Noyama chimed happily, taking another sip of her tea. She may not have approved of chairs, but using cups only made sense. Besides, the livingroom floor was...less threatening than being in the kitchen, anyway. There were sharp objects in there, and she wasn't completely certain Karoko and Noharu had gone yet... It didn't take much to set her sister off.
"If you say so," Sango mumbled, not very assuringly. It did make some sense when she thought about it. Judging by her choice of crushes so far, this might over all be a good idea. "Where's Pukio at, anyway?"
"On way," the demon answered, glancing around. What was taking her so long, anyway?

There was an audible crash as Pukio came swinging through the front door, knocking the dust out of her coat, and the bits of mud off the bottom of her shoes. Hastily, she plucked her tennis right off, stashing them hurridly in the front hall (dumping her coat on top of them), before diving down the hall into the living room. Ryker was, apparently, swinging from poor Pukio's shoulder. So much for supporting baby's head...
Pukio snatched Ryker off her shoulder, placing him neatly on a pillow on the floor -- and promptly forgetting about him; or at least, appearing to. It wasn't as if the kid could get into much trouble. Just because he'd started crawling around and pulling stuff off tables...--Nevermind. Cheerfully, Pukio moved toward the little cluster of people.
"Afternoon; sorry I'm late. Roak started eating something on the way home, and it took a bit of doing to get him to come along." Smiling brightly, the young woman folded herself up, promptly sitting down.

"Oh..." For just a brief time Noyama wondered if perhaps she did have the wrong the idea. It wasn't that she didn't think it couldn't work. Rather...she was suddenly scared of the results if it did. Judging by what she knew of the baby this far, and all she knew about Kilah, this could possibly mean the end of the world as we know it.
Ah, well. All gotta die sometime.
"Sango, get Pukio tea, yes?" Noyama requested politely. Her daughter--ironicly now older than her--eyed her warily for a moment before sighing heavily and rising to her feet.
"Alright," she agreed, and off into the kitchen went the demon slayer.
"Anyway, Pukio," Noyama continued cheerfully. "Remember telling about Momoro, yes? The island ruler of where Noyama is from. Vanish recently, gone for very long time and no sign of him."

Pukio offered Sango a quick, appreciative smile -- well, at lease the young woman knew how to be a good guest; for the most part, anyway -- before flicking her attention sharply back toward Noyama. For a long moment, the pale haired woman blinked rather blankly at her friend, and then apparently whatever it was clicked, and recognition spread across her features. "The kid Kilah's engaged to; or...something like that?" she asked abruptly, perking up slightly. "Dead or something?" PRobably eaten by crocodiles. Who knew what was on that freaky-deaky island...
Ryker, meanwhile, was entertaining himself solely by unravelling himself from his blanket. Pukio generally used it more as a confinement device ("To keep him still!" she argued) than to keep the baby boy warm. It was, if nothing else, teaching the boy how to wriggle out of tight spaces, and how to chew apart complicated knots. Pukio, though rather inept when it came to be a guardian, was apparently inadvertantly educational on some points (a fact she would deny violently should the suggestion of such a thing ever arise).

"Don't know," she replied quietly. The island was void of an animal life aside from the provided and throughly examined guardians such as Gizmo, who could never do such a thing. They also lacked diseases, amazingly enough. As far as Noyama could remember, there had been but one death that was even rumored to have been a murder--by Noharu, no less. Hopefully, he HAD just vanished. Just the same, gone was gone.
"But, yes, was engaged to Kilah. Odd just leave, never done so any rulers have. Island now under the care of Momoro's two helpers, but when Kilah old as Noyama and Sango, island belong to her." She paused. How to put this without making Kilah sound so...much like she really was...
"Kilah like power and money and things very much. Too much. Ruler have those things, yes. Need something to distract her. Keep from becoming to mean and ruining island." And probably be overthrown and lynched by said island's inhabitants... Anyway, more to the point. "Kilah need new engagement with Momoro gone. Kilah like Ryker very much, yes, and Ryker will grow quickly to catch up with Kilah. So..."

Pukio straightened visibly. The island was...going to be Kilah's? She couldn't help it. The first thought that popped into her head was "vacation spot." Long beaches, populated by lovely young men, none of which had probably ever seen anything but purple haired, fox-eared women. --Pukio drove the thought abruptly from her mind. She didn't even like the idea of maleable young men with purple hair. Purple wasn't her color. But the long beaches and the surf...that she could handle.
"Oh, really?" She inquired, leaning forward slightly toward Noyama, eyebrows arching. Something to keep Kilah distracted, eh? Pukio started slightly, blinking. Ryker? She straightened, casting the baby boy a quick glance. "Ryker?" She repeated, out loud this time. Well, sure Kilah seemed to like him, but... "--Exactly how have you come to the conclusion that this will keep Kilah from ruining the island? I mean, er, technically speaking."

For once in her life, Noyama had thought something through, and well at that! She seemed prepared for the question and answered without hesitation, "Kilah have crush on boy named Jax, once. Keep her very distracted, yes. Not hurt anyone or yell at sisters for days. Kilah and Jax fight, Twila says, but this different. Ryker and Kilah grow up together, yes? Get along well, and things work out better. Kilah have to make time for Ryker and island. Too busy to destroy island instead."

Pukio nodded slowly, steepling her fingers thoughtfully. By this time, Ryker had escaped his blanket, and was beginning to work his way up to hands and knees, pulling himself along across the floor curiously. He spied something shiny on that low table in the corner... Pukio didn't notice, or in the very least ignored Ryker's movements.
For a long time, Pukio sat in the same manner: lips pursed thoughtfully, tapping her forefingers against one another in a thoughtful manner. Finally, she let her hands drop, and shrugged. "Groovy." She shifted, reclining slightly and using her hand to support her. "Sounds like a plan, to me; there anything we gotta do? Ceremonies, papers to sign, yadda yadda?"

Noyama smiled approvingly and got to her feet. With slightly surprising speed, she managed to snatch Ryker up and held him out infront of her, ears twitching thoughtfully. "No," she said to Pukio, shaking her head. "Not until older. Arranged now, yes. Ryker and Kilah will be together later."
Now, all that was left was to talk Kilah herself into it...

Pukio nodde, carefully pushing herself to her feet. She cast Ryker a curious glance, eyebrows arching slightly as the dark haired boy's hands came up, reaching for Noyama's ears curiously. Ryker made a face, fingers clenching into fists indignantly. They looked soft. He wanted to touch them... Pukio shrugged, grinning slightly. Was it right of her to just go off arranging lives? --Meh, whatever. She didn't do moral conflict. Ryker liked Kilah anyway, what problem could their possibly be?
"So it's settled then. Ryker will cheerfully be Kilah's distraction, and I will happily vacation on the beach. Golden." --She really needed to start thinking about what she said before she blurted them out. Oh well. Smiling brightly, Pukio held out her hands for Ryker, fluffing the boy's hair lightly.

Perhaps Noyama wasn't quite as stupid as others had come to think over the many months since she'd arrived in Gaia. As she handed Pukio the baby over, she smiled brightly and added in a naive yet somehow sly way, "Be very rich, yes... island rulers get many nice, expensive things. Worth much even here."
Pukio. Check. Ryker's opinion didn't mean too much. After all, he was a baby. Albiet a cute one, but still a baby. They could raise him to get along with and like Akilah. Shame Akilah herself was already twelve. That would complicate things. "Anyway, go find Kilah now. Let her know."
And thus, the fox demon fluttered happily into the other room. She was eager to move her own and Pukio's family away from their sister and into another home, but for now, this was first...
